Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here it is! I am writing one and two editions of gospel poems for my book manuscript, entitled, Sister Theresas Lighthouse. I am called Sister Theresa West by my church congregation members and my close christian friends in my community. As a woman of God, I was blessed with the gift of writing gospel poems and quotes throughout my teenage and adulthood years. I have been collecting gospel poems and rap lyrics throughout the years while not only learning about Righteousness, but experiencing it and understanding the values of being a Christian, and pitfalls of getting caught up in the wrong path. Sister Theresas Lighthouse includes poems that give expressions of thanks to god, our Creator, our Father, and our lover, and also my words of expression give explanations of how wonderful it is to be obedient to God, Almighty. I write these poems as ammunition to fight against Satan who tries so much to rid us of the light of gospel truth. This time has come for me to rearrange these powerful lyrics in this book and to be read out loud or read as a rap lyric. For instance: No matter what others say, others do, Stay on, the right path, It will benefit you!!! Another poem I wrote: Im a preacher of God Most powerful stuff, Exploiting His Word, Midst the smooth, and the rough! Yes, these poems are like the lighthouse on a hill that gives directions of not only going the right way, but also knowing how to avoid the danger zones. This book of gospel verses gives light . . . .but at a wider range. Written by TWEST

Download or read book St. Brendan's Lighthouse and The Falcon's Nest written by Shawn A Lohan and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2024-09-19 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A decade ago, Shan narrowly escaped the clutches of a secret right-wing cabal hidden within the English government. He embarks on a journey of understanding to the Isle of Man in search of his Celtic past. Little does Shan know that his would-be kidnappers are once again in hot pursuit, and the facts he will uncover delve deeper than he could have imagined—even into secret government groups and political conspiracies. Also involved in this dangerous game of cat-and-mouse are Inspector Maloney of the Irish GARDA and a former enigmatic member of the IRA and those wishing to do him and his father, harm. Can Shan untangle the many-layered mysteries that await him on the Isle of Man and outwit his pursuers? St. Brendan’s Lighthouse and the Falcon’s Nest, the second novel in The St. Brendan Series , is an action-mystery novel deftly woven into the fabric of the Isle of Man—landmarks, architecture, and the famous Isle of Man TT motorcycle race bring the setting to life and invite the reader to delve into its history along with Shan. Bringing in characters from The Three Coins, Lohan’s father’s novel, St. Brendan’s Lighthouse and the Falcon’s Nest is a text that speaks through its plot and its very construction about the importance of family and history. “This road was a universe unto itself, for if thoughts were leaves and hopes were the winds upon which they drifted, this landscape would be brimming and deep, recognized for what it contained if your heart only had eyes.”

Book excerpt: Soul Sisters by Lesley Lokko is a rich, intergenerational tale of love, race, power and secrets which centres on the lifelong friendship between two women: Scottish Jen McFadden and South African-born Kemisa Mashabane, known to her friends as Kemi. Since childhood, Jen and Kemi have lived like sisters in the McFadden family home in Edinburgh, brought together by a shared family history which stretches back generations. Kemi was educated in Britain alongside Jen and the girls could not be closer; nor could they be more different in the paths they take in life. But the ties that bind them are strong and complicated, and a dark family secret exists in their joint history. Solam Rhoyi is from South Africa’s black political elite. Handsome, charismatic, charming, and a successful young banker, he meets both Kemi and Jen on a trip to London and sweeps them off their feet. Partly influenced by her interest in Solam, and partly on a journey of self-discovery, Kemi, now 31, decides to return to the country of her birth for the first time. Jen, seeking an escape from her father’s overbearing presence, decides to go with her. In Johannesburg, it becomes clear that Solam is looking for the perfect wife to facilitate his soaring political ambitions. But who will he choose? All the while, the real story behind the two families’ connection threatens to reveal itself – with devastating consequences . . .
