Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is my life journey - the hardest part; at 40 I was a single mother who had a kid to raise, huge debts, a life to live and I was jobless. There weren't any pre set formula to fall back upon. Reality hit harder than a truck would at the speed of 130 kilometers per hour. What transpired in the subsequent 13 months have been recorded in this book. No economics class or commerce subject could have prepared one for such travails. It was a time I discovered who were my true friends and what was my strength. It would be a lie if I say I had not contemplated suicide at the lowest point during the journey. I did but I decided to fight back with all I had - I had nothing left except the fighting spirit. Hardest lessons learnt were about people who had basked in my suffering. Greatest lesson learnt was that options are aplenty around us, it is up to us to grab what we can and pull ourselves out of the abyss. I had emerged unscathed from that battle, wiser and most important of all - very shrewd. I have recorded my 13 months' journey as a guide to those women who are in similar predicament. Believe me, there are ways to raise funds and continue your life, than to fall victim to anyone who is out to take a free ride on you!

Book Synopsis Raising Thinkers: Preparing Your Child for the Journey of Life by : Tremaine Du Preez
Download or read book Raising Thinkers: Preparing Your Child for the Journey of Life written by Tremaine Du Preez and published by Marshall Cavendish International Asia Pte Ltd. This book was released on 2017-04-15 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The skills in shortest supply for the future workplace are not technical, but behavioural – creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking. Raising Thinkers begins with an exploration of this skills gap in developed countries across the East and West from a national, corporate and educational perspective. In Asia there is growing unhappiness with a school system that is too narrowly focused on rote learning and teaching to test. In the West there is much debate about the efficacy of school systems that either cater largely to the lowest levels of ability or that too blindly strive to top global education rankings. Raising Thinkers provides insight into the future that today’s children will inhabit as adults and what public school systems are currently serving up. It covers the mechanics of high-level, critical and creative thinking, problem solving and decision making and proposes a curiosity-based approach to problems that should be taught right from school-going years. School reform will always lag behind the ever evolving needs of the corporate world. For current scholars and parents, change will come too late – therefore Raising Thinkers is also a guide aimed at helping parents and caregivers bridge the skills gap in fun, useful and practical ways.

Book excerpt: Mackenzie “Kiki” Forbes finds herself in a pickle. Either become her snarky sister’s nanny, or move halfway across the country to work as assistant-to-the-stylist of a country music star. Neither job sounds ideal, although bedazzling cowboy boots may be a hell of a lot more interesting than ironing her brother-in-law’s underwear. But life on the road as the errand coffee girl for a sold-out tour leaves much to be desired. That is, until Kiki meets her sinfully sexy new boss’s boss… Tatum Reed’s career is flying high. He’s up for country music’s Entertainer of the Year and he’s headed out on a nationwide sold-out tour. So why does he feel like it’s all about to implode? His superstar ex-girlfriend seems determined to make his life difficult, his opening act is a handful, and the new girl on his tour, the feisty brunette, is quickly getting under his skin. In this crazy world of showbusiness Tatum needs to learn who he can trust, but that doesn’t come easily, because the one person who holds all the cards may just throw them down and walk away. Life in the public eye is never all it’s cracked up to be, which has both Kiki and Tatum questioning what they’re really doing with their careers, and their hearts.

Book Synopsis The Radio Boys and Girls by : Mike Adams
Download or read book The Radio Boys and Girls written by Mike Adams and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-11-03 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Series fiction about wireless and radio was a popular genre of young adult literature at the turn of the 20th century and an early form of social media. Before television and the Internet, books about plucky youths braving danger and adventure with the help of wireless communication brought young people together. They gathered in basements to build crystal sets. They built transmitters and talked to each other across neighborhoods, cities and states. By 1920, there was music on the air and boys and girls tuned in on homemade radios, often inspired by their favorite stories. This book analyzes more than 50 volumes of wireless and radio themed fiction, offering a unique perspective on the world presented to young readers of the day. The values, attitudes, culture and technology of a century ago are discussed, many of them still debated today, including immigration, gun violence and guns on campus, race, bullying and economic inequality.

The good news is that through intentional, active mourning, you can and will find your way back to hope and healing. This compassionate guide will show you how.
