Book Synopsis Lubrication Fundamentals, Revised and Expanded by : Don M. Pirro
Download or read book Lubrication Fundamentals, Revised and Expanded written by Don M. Pirro and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Careful selection of the right lubricant(s) is required to keep a machine running smoothly. Lubrication Fundamentals, Third Edition, Revised and Expanded describes the need and design for the many specialized oils and greases used to lubricate machine elements and builds on the tribology and lubrication basics discussed in previous editions. Utilizing knowledge from leading experts in the field, the third edition covers new lubrication requirements, crude oil composition and selection, base stock manufacture, lubricant formulation and evaluation, machinery and lubrication fundamentals, and environmental stewardship. The book combines lubrication theory with practical knowledge, and provides many useful illustrations to highlight key industrial, commercial, marine, aviation, and automotive lubricant applications and concepts. All previous edition chapters have been updated to include new technologies, applications, and specifications that have been introduced in the past 15 years. What’s New in the Third Edition: Adds three new chapters on the growing renewable energy application of wind turbines, the impact of lubricants on energy efficiency, and best practice guidelines on establishing an in-service lubricant analysis program Updates API, SAE, and ACEA engine oil specifications, descriptions of new engine oil tests, impact of engine and fuel technology trends on engine oil Includes the latest environmental lubricant tests, definitions, and labelling programs Compiles expert information from ExxonMobil publications and the foremost international equipment builders and industry associations Covers key influences impacting lubricant formulations and technology Offers data on global energy demand and interesting statistics such as the worldwide population of nuclear reactors, wind turbines, and output of hydraulic turbines Presents new sections on the history of synthetic lubricants and hazardous chemical labeling for lubricants Whether used as a training guide for industry novices, a textbook for students to understand lubrication principles, or a technical reference for experienced lubrication and tribology professionals, Lubrication Fundamentals, Third Edition, Revised and Expanded is a "must read" for maintenance professionals, lubricant formulators and marketers, chemists, and lubrication, surface, chemical, mechanical, and automotive engineers.
Book Synopsis Automotive Lubricants Reference Book by : Arthur J. Caines
Download or read book Automotive Lubricants Reference Book written by Arthur J. Caines and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The automotive lubricants arena has undergone significant changes since the first edition of this book was published in 1996. Environmental concerns, particularly reagarding improvement of ar quality have been important in recent years, Reduced emmissions are directly related to changes in lubricant specifications and quality, and the second edition of the Automotive Lubricants Reference Book reflects the urgency of such matters by including updated and expanded detail. This second edition also considers the recent phenomenon of increased consolidation within the oil and petroleum additive arenas, which has resulted in fewer poeple for research, devlopment, and implementation, along with fewer competing companies. After reviewing the first edition the authors have fully reviewed and updated the information to fit in with the changes in technology and markets. Chapters include, Introduction and Fundamentals Constituents of Modern Lubricants Crankcase Oil Testing Crankcase Oil Quality Levels and Formulations Practical Experiences with Lubricant Problems Performance Levels, Classification, Specification, and Approval of Engine Lubricants. Other Lubricants for Road Vehicles Other Specialized Oils of Interest Blending, Storage, Purchase, and Use Safety Health, and the Environment The Future.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook covers the general area of lubrication and tribology in all its facets: friction, wear lubricants (liquid, solid, and gas), greases, lubrication principles, applications to various mechanisms, design principles of devices incorporating lubrication, maintenance, lubrication scheduling, and standardized tests; as well as environmental problems and conservation. The information contained in these two volumes will aid in achieving effective lubrication for control of friction and wear, and is another step to improve understanding of the complex factors involved in tribology. Both metric and English units are provided throughout both volumes.
Book Synopsis Tractors and their Power Units by : D. Smith
Download or read book Tractors and their Power Units written by D. Smith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the time of the writing of the fourth edirion of this textbook, the agricultural economy in the United States and Canada was depressed. The prices paid to farmers for their grain crops were very low, and consequently most farmers in North America could not afford to buy a new tractor when needed; there fore, the sales of tractors and other farm machines were much below normal. The farmer who was the victim of the depressed economy was forced to "make do." Instead of purchasing a new tractor when the old one needed to be replaced, the farmer usually purchased a used or second-hand tractor or repaired the old one. In a strict sense, tractors usually do not wear out; instead, they become obsolete. The farmer who owns an obsolete tractor would prefer to replace it with one having more power, more speeds, more conveniences, a better hydraulic system, lower operating cost, or all of the above. But farmers in the United States, Canada, and other industrial nations will continue to want to purchase tractors that have all of the features, in cluding microprocessors, found on other vehicles.
