Book excerpt: Wild Billionaire Romance These wild billionaire playboys are used to getting their way… There isn’t much money can’t buy, especially when it comes to pleasure. But can these curvy women tame these billionaire beasts and win their love? Or will their souls be sucked into oblivion by the wanton bliss their bodies crave more and more with every surrender? Each of our heroes wears a mask on the outside to face the world, but his disguise comes off when he runs into the one female who makes his blood run hot. Need and possessive passion abound in these books, but our heroes know only one way to control their desires. Will they f*ck the feeling they see as weakness out of their systems, or will their needs only grow more wild with every touch, kiss, and plunge into ecstasy with the object of his affections? His Wild Temptation She was a temptation he couldn’t afford, but letting her go was not an option. Marat was the face of Volkov Industries. With his movie star good looks, he attracted class and money to the multi-billion dollar corporation, not to mention all the right PR. But being born with the face of an angel had its disadvantages. Expected to entertain associates, Marat’s activities were anything but celestial. And yes, it was exhausting. Sent on an errand to Sin City in the name of business, Marat needed a diversion. The curvy goddess serving drinks was exactly what this playboy billionaire craved. He was not looking for forever, but some temptations were too good to let go. Destiny Valdez ran away to Vegas as a teen with her head full of dreams. A dozen years later, those dreams were dust. Pulling a double shift with her slimy boss giving her a hard time was not how she’d planned to spend her birthday. But that was life. She never expected a proposition from one of the most handsome men she’d ever seen. Daring her to take what she wanted, Marat Volkov presented the type of opportunity she only ever fantasized about. A night in his bed sounded exactly like what she needed. Waking up married? Not so much. She thought he was playing, but keeping his curvy Dumplin’ was a wild temptation he could not resist. Book excerpt: This noir saga, filled with deadly temptation and betrayal, is presented for new fans and old with an oversized and slipcased hardcover that includes a portfolio and exclusive print. Dwight is a man at the end of his good years, and the end of his rope. With a murky, violent past, weathered by years of alcoholism, he’s a man with nothing to his name but a seedy gumshoe job, his own demons, and memories of things that might’ve been love. Then one day one of those memories walks back into his life—Ava, in the flesh. She’s never forgotten about him, not after all these years, and now he’s her last chance to live another day. Frank Miller’s return to his comic opus graphic novel series continues with the luxury edition of Volume 2 A Dame to Kill For. High-end materials and finishes, and iconic textures from the series combine in a package which evokes the striking asphalt jungle that is Sin City. Housed in a cloth-covered slipcase with foil stamping and printing is an oversized hardcover featuring a soft-touch matte finish with spot gloss and foil stamping. New to this edition is a three-page gallery featuring cover art for Volume 2. The slipcase includes a matching portfolio featuring a deluxe print of new artwork by Frank Miller. As an added bonus, each volume’s slipcase has a different letter from the logo, placed on the front cover in such a way that alone it looks like a splash of red wrapping around the slipcase. But when all seven volumes are together it is clear that the grouping spells out “Sin City.” Discerning fans and new readers can experience this noir masterpiece where old flames die hard in the most lavish edition to date! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, a city that he loved, Jonathan Foster was forced to come to grips with its reputation for racial violence. In so doing, he began to question how other cities dealt with similar kinds of stigmas that resulted from behavior and events that fell outside accepted norms. He wanted to know how such stigmas changed over time and how they affected a city’s reputation and residents. Those questions led to this examination of the role of stigma and history in three very different cities: Birmingham, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. In the era of civil rights, Birmingham became known as “Bombingham,” a place of constant reactionary and racist violence. Las Vegas emerged as the nation’s most recognizable Sin City, and San Francisco’s tolerance of homosexuality made it the perceived capital of Gay America. Stigma Cites shows how cultural and political trends influenced perceptions of disrepute in these cities, and how, in turn, their status as sites of vice and violence influenced development decisions, from Birmingham’s efforts to shed its reputation as racist, to San Francisco’s transformation of its stigma into a point of pride, to Las Vegas’s use of gambling to promote tourism and economic growth. The first work to investigate the important effects of stigmatized identities on urban places, Foster’s innovative study suggests that reputation, no less than physical and economic forces, explains how cities develop and why. An absorbing work of history and urban sociology, the book illuminates the significance of perceptions in shaping metropolitan history.
