Book excerpt: "Great teams are comprised of ordinary people that are empowered and inspired. They are empowered to solve hard problems in ways their customers love yet work for their business. They are inspired with ideas and techniques for quickly evaluating those ideas to discover solutions that work: they are valuable, usable, feasible and viable. This book is about the idea and reality of "achieving extraordinary results from ordinary people". Empowered is the companion to Inspired. It addresses the other half of the problem of building tech products?how to get the absolute best work from your product teams. However, the book's message applies much more broadly than just to product teams. Inspired was aimed at product managers. Empowered is aimed at all levels of technology-powered organizations: founders and CEO's, leaders of product, technology and design, and the countless product managers, product designers and engineers that comprise the teams. This book will not just inspire companies to empower their employees but will teach them how. This book will help readers achieve the benefits of truly empowered teams"--
Download or read book Empowered written by Sarah Banet-Weiser and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2018-10-25 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Empowered Sarah Banet-Weiser examines the deeply entwined relationship between popular feminism and popular misogyny as it plays out in advertising, online and multimedia platforms, and nonprofit and commercial campaigns. Examining feminist discourses that emphasize self-confidence, body positivity, and individual achievement alongside violent misogynist phenomena such as revenge porn, toxic geek masculinity, and men's rights movements, Banet-Weiser traces how popular feminism and popular misogyny are co-constituted. From Black Girls Code and the Always #LikeAGirl campaign to GamerGate and the 2016 presidential election, Banet-Weiser shows how popular feminism is met with a misogynistic backlash of mass harassment, assault, and institutional neglect. In so doing, she contends that popular feminism's problematic commitment to visibility limits its potential and collective power.

Book Synopsis God's Empowered People by : Steven M. Fettke
Download or read book God's Empowered People written by Steven M. Fettke and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-12-15 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professional ministers and their work as church leaders have dominated church and pastoral ministry studies. Lay ministry studies have been neglected. In the local church, lay ministries are often defined solely by their voluntary service in the local church, and even then are regarded as secondary to the work of the professional minister(s) leading the local church. This study proposes that the word "minister" should be applied to all believers and that professional ministers and their ministries should serve the larger group doing ministry: the laity. Lay ministry should not be understood only as that service done in the local church, but should be understood as a call received and obeyed by the laity to "do the work of ministry" in their work places and their neighborhoods, as well as their local churches. Following Amos Yong's theology of disability and the formation of the L'Arche communities found throughout the world, this God's Empowered People will show how the local church can welcome all in Christ's name into a community of the Spirit in which people are loved and respected for who they are. From such a welcoming, loving, and respectful community can come people of varying abilities who discover their special gifts of ministry, then take their gifts into the work world, market place, and neighborhoods to "do the work of ministry" in Christ's name. They will be able to go places and do things no professional minister could go or do, yet still need the professional minister to help prepare them to "do the work of ministry." Thus, professional and lay ministries are not competitive but complementary. In such a community of professional and lay ministries operating cooperatively, all have the opportunity to express wisely their gifts in their arenas of calling and influence.

Book excerpt: Empowered YOUth: A Father and Son’s Journey to Conscious Living is the heartfelt story of Michael and Jeffrey Eisen who rose up from a tumultuous, emotional past to come together in a loving, respectful relationship as father and son; coach and student. Through this engaging narrative they help deconstruct the paradigms and beliefs that contribute to anxiety, stress and unrest within the family unit. They provide a refreshing perspective on how parents and kids can work together to empower and support one another by opening the channels of communication, dissolving fear and surrendering the need for control. With a perfect balance of moving stories, applied learning, and practical wisdom, Empowered YOUth offers guidance and insights for parents, young people and educators. While adults will instantly relate to Jeffrey’s struggle to connect with his children, provide for his family, and listen to his own heart’s desire, young people will love Michael’s honest and emotional examination of an angst-filled childhood laden with stress, sadness, isolation, and self-inflicted pressure. Through this story of a relationship broken apart and put back together, Jeffrey and Michael provide inspiration for those looking to empower the next generation in a more loving, open and intuitive way. Empowered YOUth will leave readers feeling hopeful, passionate and optimistic.

Download or read book Hannah Arendt And Education written by Mordechai Gordon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-05 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hannah Arendt And Education: Renewing Our Common World is the first book to bring together a collection of essays on Hannah Arendt and education. The contributors contend that Arendt offers a unique perspective, one which enhances the liberal and critical traditions' call for transforming education so that it can foster the values of democratic citizenship and social justice. They focus on a wide array of Arendtian concepts?such as natality, action, freedom, public space, authority and judgment?which are particularly relevant for education in a democratic society. Teachers, educators, and citizens in general who are interested in democratic or civic education would benefit from reading this book.
