Book Synopsis Buttress’s World Guide to Abbreviations of Organizations by : Jean C. Swinbank
Download or read book Buttress’s World Guide to Abbreviations of Organizations written by Jean C. Swinbank and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1054 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of over 60 000 entries, including significantly more than 20% new or revised material, not only updates its predecessor but also continues the policy of extending coverage to areas dealt with only sparsely in previous editions. Special attention has been paid to the Far East, Australasia and Latin America in general, and to the People's Republic of China in particular. The cross-referencing between a defunct organization and its successor (indicated by ex and now) introduced into the last edition, has been extended. Otherwise the policies adopted in previous editions have been retained. All kinds of organizations are included - international, national, governmental, individual, large or small - but strictly local organizations have been omitted. The subject scope includes activities of all kinds, in the fields of commerce and industry, education, law, politics, public administration, religion, recreation, medicine, science and technology. The country of origin of a national organization is given in brackets, unless it is the home country of the title language or can be deduced readily from the title itself. Acronyms of parent bodies of subsidiary organizations are also added in brackets. Equivalences are used to link acronyms in different languages for the same organization. A select bibliography guides the reader to specialist works providing more detailed information.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 882 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of well over 50,000 entries not only updates its predecessor but considerably increases the coverage of Latin America and Eastern Europe. I have been aided in this work by two colleagues at Glasgow University Library, Dr Lloyd Davies and Barbara MacMillan, and in general revision by Kate Richard. Close on 20% of the text has been altered. The equivalences, introduced into the last edition, linking acronyms in different languages for the same organization, have been extended. New to this edition is the cross-referencing between a defunct organization and its successor. Otherwise the policies adopted in previous editions have been retained: strictly local organizations are omitted, but the subject scope includes activities of all kinds; the country of origin of a national organization is given in brackets, unless it is the home country of the title language or can be readily deduced from the title itself. Acronyms of parent bodies of subsidiary organizations are also added in brackets. A select bibliography guides the reader to specialist works providing more detailed information. Particularly at a time of such widespread political change affecting organizational structures in so many countries, it is impossible to ensure complete up-to-date accuracy in a work of this kind. Readers are earnestly invited to inform me of any errors and omissions for attention in a later edition of this work. H. H. Bibliography Acronyms, Initialisms and Abbreviations Dictionary. 13th edn. Book Synopsis The International Political Economy of the BRICS by : Li Xing
Download or read book The International Political Economy of the BRICS written by Li Xing and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring to what extent the BRICS group is a significant actor challenging the global order, this book focuses on the degree and consequence of their emergence and explores how important cooperation is to individual BRICS members’ foreign policy strategies and potential relevance as leaders in regional and global governance. The BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) have come to play an important role on the global political scene. As a group, and as individual countries, they have taken initiatives to establish new institutions, and have engaged in yearly summits that coordinate their voice and focus on intra-BRICS cooperation. In this sense, the BRICS may be seen as a "balancing coalition", and often the main opposing force to Western powers. Looking at the debate around the role of the BRICS as an actor, expert contributors also explore the international political economy (IPE) of individual BRICS countries as systemically important countries with highly asymmetrical individual power capacities. The comprehensive theoretical and empirical coverage of this timely volume will be especially useful to students, researchers and professionals interested in ongoing academic debates around the IPE of emerging powers, and those researching global governance and globalization.

Book Synopsis Foreign Policy Of India -7E by : V N Khanna
Download or read book Foreign Policy Of India -7E written by V N Khanna and published by Vikas Publishing House. This book was released on 2018 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authoritative work on India's foreign policy rests on the fundamental values of international relations that India has cherished. Efforts have been made to analyze these values and to evaluate to what extent these have been implemented and to what extent these have been effective. This edition of the book has been updated to include new issues that have emerged and have come to dominate Indias foreign policy concerns. Indias stance on Climate Change has undergone an evolution in the last two decades which is important to understand. Similarly, Indias relation with Israel which was tepid and limited till 1992 has undergone a radical transformation ever since. India has forged a close and important partnership with Israel which will be critical going forward for it, especially in the defence sector. India and Israel have also come to share a sense of solidarity, being common victims of terrorism as was highlighted by the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks of 2008. Thus, it is important to take stock of Indias growing relationship with Israel. Furthermore, the rise of China is the biggest geopolitical challenge India faces in this century. This edition discusses how India is seeking to formulate a foreign policy in accordance with its emergence as a major international power. It also discusses Indias relations with its neighbours in South Asia.

Book Synopsis The Legal Foundations of INTERPOL by : Rutsel Silvestre J Martha
Download or read book The Legal Foundations of INTERPOL written by Rutsel Silvestre J Martha and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of the extremely well regarded first edition of this title, the legal regime which forms the basis for INTERPOL has changed significantly due to increasing criticism and calls for reform. This timely new edition provides a complete update to reflect the significant developments within the Organization since 2010. This new edition also examines INTERPOL's internal and external law and situates INTERPOL's assistance to its members in the legal regime of responsibility. It is the first text to undertake this task. It draws on the jurisprudence of the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files and the authors' extensive experience before this body to discuss in great detail how an individual can challenge INTERPOL's interventions (including the issuance of notices) on the basis of the Organization's internal rules. It also meticulously describes the procedures under which INTERPOL members might challenge INTERPOL's interventions and how an individual can hold INTERPOL responsible for breaches of its external law. Retaining the clarity of expression and expert analysis that were hallmarks of the first edition, this book is required reading for practitioners and academics alike. It provides academics with a valuable case study on the creation of an international organisation and the responsibility of international organisations, and it offers practitioners a forensic analysis of how to challenge INTERPOL and its actions.
