Inspired by a story he found interesting, he joined Stefano Guerra, Enrico Solito, and Mauro Castellini in writing The Adventures of Mary Morstan Watson.

Book excerpt: Volume II of the Redacted Sherlock Holmes presents more stories manifestly too scandalous to publish in the lifetime of the Great Baker Street detective. Here we meet Sherlock Holmes as he investigates: - why the publication of a British Government report of a recent war is being delayed; - the continued career of James Windibank, villain of A Case of Identity; - the mystery behind the commissioner of a musical masterpiece; - a notorious killing in 1930's Berlin; and - the complex relationship between Queen Victoria, her family and her domestic servants. Finally, The Adventure of the Fourth Messenger elucidates the contribution of Sherlock Holmes to the writing of the Bible. Mr Pearson mixes canonical stories, history and speculation to produce a sensationally entertaining brew which all lovers of serious sleuthing will find themselves unable to put down. In this volume: - The Alcock Report - The Camberwell Tyrant - An Anonymous Commission - The German Interpreter - The Prince and the Munshi - The Adventure of the Fourth messenger

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2017 is the 130th anniversary of the publication of A Study in Scarlet, the first recorded adventure of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John H. Watson. What an amazing journey it's been! In addition to the pitifully few sixty tales originally presented in The Canon, published between 1887 and 1927, there have been literally thousands of additional Holmes adventures in the form of books, short stories, radio and television episodes, movies, manuscripts, comics, and fan fiction. And yet, for those who are true friends and admirers of the Master Detective of Baker Street, where it is always 1895 (or a few decades on either side of that!) these stories are not enough. Give us more! In March 1998, legendary radio dramatist, producer, writer, director, and founder of Imagination Theatre listened to this request and broadcast the first of an astounding number of Holmes radio shows over their United States network of stations. In the intervening years, 128 original Holmes episodes (and one recently found "lost" episode") were broadcast before Imagination Theatre closed its doors in early 2017. Additionally, the cast and crew performed their version of the entire Holmes Canon between 2005 and 2016, featuring the same actors as Holmes and Watson, (John Patrick Lowrie and Larry Albert, respectively,) as well as having every script adapted by the same author, M.J. Elliott - something that has never been done before. Astonishingly, this great number of episodes were written by a relatively small group of dramatists. Imagination Theatre's departure from the airwaves left a great void, both in terms of those seeking "movies for your mind", but also those wanting new quality stories about the true Sherlock Holmes, set in the correct period, and featuring tales that truthfully represented Holmes and Watson. This book serves both to honor Jim French and his lifetime of achievements, and also Mr. Sherlock Holmes, along with the dramatists, cast, and crew who brought the new adventures to life. Inside this volume, you will find a script by every one of the authors who wrote about Holmes for Imagination Theatre, representing some of the finest new Holmesian storytelling to be found, and honoring the man described by Watson as "the best and wisest … whom I have ever known." Featuring fourteen scripts from every writer who contributed to the series run of Imagination Theatre's Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have once again taken up some of the most intriguing cases. Join them as they investigate disappearances, violent murders, and burglary and solve the mystery of a strange yellow-faced figure and an unusual business agreement. A collection of eleven short stories, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes introduces Mycroft, Holmes’ elder brother, in ‘The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter,’ and Professor James Moriarty, the criminal mastermind and Holmes’ archenemy, in ‘The Adventure of the Final Problem.’ The stories continue to thrill their readers. The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes are a collection of twelve short stories published in The Strand as further episodes of the Adventures between December 1892 and December 1893 with original illustrations by Sidney Paget. They were first published as a collection in 1894. They include one of the most famous Sherlock Holmes stories, "The Adventure of the Final Problem", in which Doyle "killed" Holmes. Several of the stories are told in a way which is more from Holmes' own point of view, as he tells Watson some of the early work that he did before meeting the doctor. · "The Adventure of the Silver Blaze" · "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" [note 1] · "The Adventure of the Yellow Face" · "The Adventure of the Stock-Broker's Clerk" · "The Adventure of the Gloria Scott" (Holmes's first case, described to Watson) · "The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual" (another early case, told by Holmes to Watson) · "The Adventure of the Reigate Puzzle" · "The Adventure of the Crooked Man" · "The Adventure of the Resident Patient" · "The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter" (Mycroft appears for the first time) · "The Adventure of the Naval Treaty" · "The Adventure of the Final Problem" (Watson reports the death of Holmes) About the Author: Arthur Conan Doyle was born on 22 May 1859 in Edinburgh into a prosperous Irish family. He trained as a doctor, gaining his degree from Edinburgh University in 1881. He worked as a surgeon on a whaling boat and also as a medical officer on a steamer travelling between Liverpool and West Africa. He then settled in Portsmouth on the English south coast and divided his time between medicine and writing. Sherlock Holmes made his first appearance in 'A Study of Scarlet', published in 'Beeton's Christmas Annual' in 1887. Its success encouraged Conan Doyle to write more stories involving Holmes but, in 1893, Conan Doyle killed off Holmes, hoping to concentrate on more serious writing. A public outcry later made him resurrect Holmes. In addition, Conan Doyle wrote a number of other novels, including 'The Lost World' and various non-fictional works. These included a pamphlet justifying Britain's involvement in the Boer War, for which he was knighted and histories of the Boer War and World War One, in which his son, brother and two of his nephews were killed. Conan Doyle also twice ran unsuccessfully for parliament. In later life he became very interested in spiritualism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1887 and 1927, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote sixty Sherlock Holmes stories, and his great Canon has become the most praised, most studied, and best-known chapter in the history of detective fiction. Over twenty thousand publications pertaining to the Sherlock Holmes phenomenon are known to have been published, most of them historical and critical studies. In addition, however, almost since the first stories appeared, such was their uniqueness and extraordinary attraction that other authors began writing stories based on or derived from them. A new genre had appeared: pastiches; parodies; burlesques; and stories that attempted to copy or rival the great detective himself. As the field widened, there was hardly a year in the twentieth century in which new short stories or novels did not appear. Many hundreds are now known to have been published, some of them written by authors well-known for their work in other literary fields. The non-canonical Sherlock Holmes literature not only constitutes a literary field of considerable historical interest, but includes many stories that are both enjoyable and fascinating in their own right. Although a large bibliography on these stories exists, and a few limited anthologies have been published, no attempt has previously been made to collect them all and discuss them comprehensively. The Alternative Sherlock Holmes does so: it provides a new and valuable approach to the Sherlock Holmes literature, as well as making available many works that have for years remained forgotten. Presented as an entertaining narrative, of interest to both the aficionado and the scholar, it provides full bibliographic data on virtually all the known stories in the field.
