Book Synopsis Control System Components by : Desai
Download or read book Control System Components written by Desai and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The operation of each component is discussed and explained in detail in order to illustrate the function and action of each component in the composite system. Examples are used wherever possible to illustrate the principles discussed. Diagrammatic illustrations are used profusely throughout the book to make the descriptive text interesting and self-explanatory. Although a large number of books dealing with the theory of control engineering are available, most of them do not deal with the varied range of components used in modern control systems. This book is an attempt to fill this need. It comprehensively covers many typical components of primary interest to the control-system engineer. A number of different types of electrical, electromechanical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic control devices, which form integral parts of open-loop and closed-loop control systems, have been presented to enable the students to understand all the types of control systems or equipment that they may encounter in different fields of industry. This book is especially designed to cater to the need of a one-semester course in Control System Components, particularly for the undergraduate students of Instrumentation and Control Engineering. It will also be a highly useful text for the students of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering during their study of the theory of Control Engineering. This book will teach them about the components required to build practical control systems.

Download or read book Optimal Control written by Michael Athans and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-04-26 with total page 900 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geared toward advanced undergraduate and graduate engineering students, this text introduces the theory and applications of optimal control. It serves as a bridge to the technical literature, enabling students to evaluate the implications of theoretical control work, and to judge the merits of papers on the subject. Rather than presenting an exhaustive treatise, Optimal Control offers a detailed introduction that fosters careful thinking and disciplined intuition. It develops the basic mathematical background, with a coherent formulation of the control problem and discussions of the necessary conditions for optimality based on the maximum principle of Pontryagin. In-depth examinations cover applications of the theory to minimum time, minimum fuel, and to quadratic criteria problems. The structure, properties, and engineering realizations of several optimal feedback control systems also receive attention. Special features include numerous specific problems, carried through to engineering realization in block diagram form. The text treats almost all current examples of control problems that permit analytic solutions, and its unified approach makes frequent use of geometric ideas to encourage students' intuition.

Download or read book Applied Mathematics for Engineers and Physicists written by Louis A. Pipes and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2014-07-16 with total page 1043 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most widely used reference books on applied mathematics for a generation, distributed in multiple languages throughout the world, this text is geared toward use with a one-year advanced course in applied mathematics for engineering students. The treatment assumes a solid background in the theory of complex variables and a familiarity with complex numbers, but it includes a brief review. Chapters are as self-contained as possible, offering instructors flexibility in designing their own courses. The first eight chapters explore the analysis of lumped parameter systems. Succeeding topics include distributed parameter systems and important areas of applied mathematics. Each chapter features extensive references for further study as well as challenging problem sets. Answers and hints to select problem sets are included in an Appendix. This edition includes a new Preface by Dr. Lawrence R. Harvill. Dover (2014) republication of the third edition originally published by McGraw-Hill, New York, 1970. See every Dover book in print at www.doverpublications.com
Book Synopsis On the Libration of a Gravity Gradient Stabilized Spacecraft in an Eccentric Orbit by : Albert J. Fleig (Jr.)
Download or read book On the Libration of a Gravity Gradient Stabilized Spacecraft in an Eccentric Orbit written by Albert J. Fleig (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: General analytical methods for predicting planar and three dimensional attitude motion of a gravity gradient spacecraft in an elliptical orbit are developed. Regions of stability from the linearized planar equation of Mathieu form are plotted versus inertia parameters and orbit eccentricity. Similar plots showing the effects of damping are presented. The planar equation for larger eccentricities is examined with asymptotic expansion methods (KBM) for increased accuracy. An analysis based on the Hamiltonian and using canonical transformations and the method of averaging is applied to the three degree of freedom equations. Thirty-two combinations of resonant eigenfrequencies, indicating both nonlinear and parametric resonances, and including six previously shown by Breakwell and Pringle, are found. Nineteen of these combinations lead to unbounded increases in the amplitude of oscillation of one or more of the spacecraft modes. Eight lead to significant interchanges of energy between modes. The remaining five have little effect.

Book Synopsis Aircraft Dynamics and Automatic Control by : Duane T. McRuer
Download or read book Aircraft Dynamics and Automatic Control written by Duane T. McRuer and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 809 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aeronautical engineers concerned with the analysis of aircraft dynamics and the synthesis of aircraft flight control systems will find an indispensable tool in this analytical treatment of the subject. Approaching these two fields with the conviction that an understanding of either one can illuminate the other, the authors have summarized selected, interconnected techniques that facilitate a high level of insight into the essence of complex systems problems. These techniques are suitable for establishing nominal system designs, for forecasting off-nominal problems, and for diagnosing the root causes of problems that almost inevitably occur in the design process. A complete and self-contained work, the text discusses the early history of aircraft dynamics and control, mathematical models of linear system elements, feedback system analysis, vehicle equations of motion, longitudinal and lateral dynamics, and elementary longitudinal and lateral feedback control. The discussion concludes with such topics as the system design process, inputs and system performance assessment, and multi-loop flight control systems. Originally published in 1974.
