Years later, in Los Angeles, she is a sought-after bartender, renowned as much for her brilliant cocktails as for the mystery that clings to her. Across the city, Emilie Dubois is in a holding pattern, yearning for the beauty and community her Creole grandparents cultivated but unable to commit. On a whim, she takes a job arranging flowers at the glamorous restaurant Yerba Buena. The morning Emilie and Sara first meet at Yerba Buena, their connection is immediate. But soon Sara's old life catches up to her, upending everything she thought she wanted, just as Emilie has finally gained her own sense of purpose. Will their love be more powerful than their pasts? At once exquisite and expansive, astonishing in its humanity and heart, Yerba Buena is a testament to the healing qualities of a shared meal, a perfectly crafted drink, a space we claim for ourselves. Download or read book FrameShifting written by Alison Heiser and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-04 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FrameShifting is a unique user-centered guide to collaborating with others that combines structure and creativity. The FrameShifting methodology draws upon Alison Heiser's extensive experience as an executive and consultant working with leaders and teams in blue chip organizations including P&G, LensCrafters, Michelin, Accenture, Microsoft, BASF, Steelcase and many others. FrameShifting breaks new ground with the concept of Frame Archetypes. We profile the FrameBuilder, FrameSeeker, FrameMaster and FreeRadical using stories, illustrations, and real-life examples to describe their skills, Achilles' heels, and opportunities for growth. All over the world teams are working together to solve challenges they've never seen before. And far too often, an endless series of meetings leave people frustrated and with little to show for their efforts. FrameShifting is a skill that can be learned, and with practice it will step change how leaders and teams collaborate to drive innovative problem-solving in any organization. From the Foreword: "What Alison and Mary have done is to illuminate the discipline of problem framing and using frameworks effectively, making what has historically been more of an art into a learnable science that consultants of all flavors can use to increase the impact of their work with clients. However, this book is not just for consultants. It's for any businessperson who wants to learn to solve gnarly problems - and, importantly, to solve the right problems - with greater insight and rigor. And, importantly, it's for collaborators who want to engage others in the exploration and solving of tough problems. FrameShifting is as much a collaboration approach as it is a problem-solving approach."-Melissa Quinn, Innovation Advisor and Coach, former COO and Managing Director, Doblin, Deloitte Consulting
Book Synopsis The Ultimate RV Logbook by : Brandon Cave
Download or read book The Ultimate RV Logbook written by Brandon Cave and published by . This book was released on 2018-12-05 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ultimate log book for RVers who want to keep great records of where they've been! Record campground information like: Hookups available Bathhouse conditions Amenities Road Conditions Campsite conditions Management/Staff Info Booking/Cancellation Notes Local Area Notes Sightseeing Notes and A LOT more! There's even extra space to add your own notes for each site! Great for RVing in: Class A Motorhomes Class C Motorhomes Travel Trailer RV 5th Wheel RV Class B Motorhome Custom Vans This book is an amazing tool for your travel adventures. We, as full-time RVers ourselves, wanted to produce something that would actually be useful for other RV travelers. Our goal was to create a place where you can record all of the great (and sometimes not so great) notes & impressions of your camping spots as you wander about in your RV. We made this book a place to store information but also easily find those notes again later, so we incorporated an easy-to-use referencing system, organized by U.S. state (or you can fill in your own regions). This way, when you need to look back on your notes from two, three, or even 20 years later, you will be able to quickly find them. Here's how to use this book: Log Your Stays: Turn to the first log and start writing! Use our prompted notes and checkoffs to record basic information and then also add your own notes as a refresher for your memory later. We didn't make space for every possible scenario (there are so many!) So, use the extra space to write down anything you think you might want to know later. For instance, you may note more things like low/high water pressure, road noise, or management/staff names & notes. Did you spend way too much on laundry here? Make a note of it! Did you see a sasquatch walk casually through your campground on Friday night? Make a note of it! And share the picture! You did get one, right? Our Referencing System: It's so simple! Let's begin with the Site Logs. Each Site Log has a number in the corner. When you log a campsite, take a second to record that site's Log Number in the back of the book in its reference section. Most reference sections are simply a state. However, some states are larger (and more popular) than others, so we broke them down into smaller regions for even quicker reference. For instance, we've broken Texas down to 5 regions: North, West, Central, Gulf Coast & Panhandle. Maintenance Logs: In the back of the book, there are pages dedicated for recording RV maintenance. Just record the date, service performed, mileage, and any other notes there so you have that information later.
Download or read book Kerala written by Richard W. Franke and published by Food First Books. This book was released on 1994 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kerala, a state in southwestern India, has implemented radical reform as a development strategy. As a result, Kerala now has some of the Third World's highest levels of health, education, and social justice. Originally published in 1989, this book traces the role that movements of social justice played in Kerala's successful struggle to redistribute wealth and power. A 21-page introduction updates the earlier edition. This book underlines the following positive lessons that the Kerala experience offers to developing countries: Radical reforms deliver benefits to the poor even when per capita incomes remain low. Popular movements and militant progressive organizations with dedicated leaders are necessary to initiate and sustain reform. Despite their other benefits, radical reforms cannot necessarily create employment or raise per capita income. Local reformers are restricted by national politics. Public distribution of food is a highly effective policy in poor agrarian economies. Devoting significant resources to public health can bring about low infant mortality, high life expectancy, and low birth rates even when incomes are low. Widespread literacy and educational opportunities can help create a more just and open social order. Meaningful land reform can reduce inequalities and give resources to the poor. Wage and working-condition laws can help effect more equitable resource distribution even in a poor economy. Greater socioeconomic equality can lead to lower levels of violence and a healthier social and political environment. Women can benefit from radical reforms not aimed at them, but special attention must eventually be given to their needs. Progressive forces, including Communist parties, can play a major positive role in benefiting very poor Third World citizens. Radical reforms can shield the poor against recessions. Contains over 200 references. (TD)
