Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Epizootic Ulcerative Fish Disease Syndrome covers both the background and current information on the EUS disease relevant to fisheries and aquaculture delivered in a systematic and succinct way. The book is an essential resource for the aquaculture and fisheries researcher interested in finding solutions to the spread of the disease across the globe and students in relevant programs, including an in-depth description and analysis of the disease, as well as the structure and composition of the virus, while offering prevention and control methodologies. Clinical veterinarians, aquaculture disease practitioners, farmers, and those who are interested in aquatic virology will find this book to be a useful guide on the topic. Examines different manifestations of the disease, and includes different methodologies of studies, such as histopathological, histochemical, bacteriological, mycological, virological, and enzymological Provides background information describing fish as a significant food source and avocation, the diversity of fishes in the globe, and the panorama of diseases fish can be exposed to Describes all major species affected by EUS and its pattern of spread, along with suggested strategies for control and prevention

Book Synopsis Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (Eus) in Labeo Bata (Ham.) by : Arunjyoti Baruah
Download or read book Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (Eus) in Labeo Bata (Ham.) written by Arunjyoti Baruah and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (EUS) is one of the most destructive diseases amongst fresh and brackish water fish species in the Asia-Pacific region. Almost all species of freshwater and brackish water fishes can be infected but certain important food species such as Mugil cephalus, snakehead and Indian major carps, are particularly more susceptible to EUS. Labeo bata (Bata), a minor carp which has not been previously reported among the species affected by EUS, however recent disease surveillance has shown EUS infections in them. In the present study the infectivity and role of Aphanomyces invadans (primary causative agent of EUS) in the development of ulcerative condition in bata and the effect of such condition on immunological, biochemical, and hematological changes were investigated. Fungus isolation was done from the affected muscle. Histopathological study of muscle and liver tissue from the ulcerated fish was attempted along with the studies on horizontal transmission of EUS among the cohabited fishes.
Book Synopsis Plant DNA Fingerprinting and Barcoding by : Nikolaus J. Sucher
Download or read book Plant DNA Fingerprinting and Barcoding written by Nikolaus J. Sucher and published by Humana Press. This book was released on 2012-03-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular cloning and DNA-based analysis have become part of every molecular life science laboratory. The rapid adoption of DNA-based techniques has been facilitated by the introduction of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which has made cloning and characterization of DNA quick and relatively simple. PCR is virtually part of every variation of the plethora of approaches used for DNA fingerprinting today. Plant DNA Fingerprinting: Methods and Protocols aims to bring together the different currently available genome-based techniques into one repository. This volume contains detailed protocols for the preparation of plant genomic DNA, fingerprinting of plants for the detection of intra-species variations, the use of DNA barcoding, as well as methods for the bioinformatic analysis of data. Also included are several discussions on the broader issues of genome-based approaches in order to provide a sound understanding of the principles of these methods. Written in the successful Methods in Molecular BiologyTM series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible protocols, and notes on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and easily accessible, Plant DNA Fingerprinting: Methods and Protocols is tailored principally for those who seek to augment their current methods of plant analysis and quality control using genome-based approaches as well as for scientists and researchers in different plant sciences.
