My name is John Goodwill, and, with grandson Frank, this is the story of our cross-country trip to find my daughter, Faith. Forty-five years ago, I ran away from the pain of her mental illness and live with a secret, broken heart. Faith just turned sixty years old, and I wonder absolutely everything about her. As a fun surprise, Frank and I meet curious characters who share raw truths, helping tear down my walls of denial and shame. "This homeless artist is like shattered pieces of glass from a broken goblet" (Just Bob). "She didn't know what was happening to her son. Mom always believed I could learn to live with who I am" (Sea Wind and Gang). "God works in mysterious ways. We are sent a helper, support in most unlikely packages. This one comes with short, frizzy orange hair and a nose ring. What else could I need?" (Josie). "The cure is a shot in the eye? Not for me! Get my pants, Frank, we are out of here" (Grandfather). "We get to a crossroad. We can give our dreams one final push. Then we know deep inside we are finished" (Nurse Hatchett). "Judgment? To some, I look more like a cartoon character than a servant of God, yet I carry the Lord's spirit, just like you" (Chaplain Charlie). Our lives, if you could go back and choose one moment in time to do differently, would you? When the storm is calmed, what is left in your clear reflection upon the still waters now? Seeking My Daughter Faith: Parables from The Forgotten details spiritual adventures of the forgotten among us and stories of God's mercy, forgiveness, and love. When you see an RV going down the road, think of me, reflect on all of us. As long as we breathe, there are chances for do-overs with the ones we love and with ourselves.

This book was released on 2021-09-06 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Camino―or The Way―to Santiago is a five-hundred-mile, thirty-three-day walk across Spain's extreme conditions to reach the beloved Cathedral of Santiago. Ron “Willie” Williams walked The Way two and a half times, a total of twelve hundred miles. Why? It is less about what he gains, and more about what he loses along The Way―old behaviors, unforgiveness, and a tendency to play God. Journey with Willie through the chapters of Lost and Found Along The Way, as he sheds these tendencies, and in doing so finds a renewed, richer, and deeper faith. The first few chapters are narrative historical fiction portraying James in Acts 12:2 facing his execution along with supposed reactions from his loved ones. At the end of this narrative, we transition back to nonfiction with the discovery of James' gravesite some eight hundred years after his martyrdom. Willie then explains how the Camino pilgrimages began along the Camino, also known as, The Way. No other nonfiction book offers such a unique back story of Saint James and the Camino. The following chapters, and the bulk of the book, follow Willie's own Camino journeys, present vivid descriptions of the geography on the trail and historical background provide readers with a nearly firsthand experience of The Camino de Santiago. True and dramatic faith walk stories demonstrate God's hand in people's lives and guide readers to dig deeper into their own spiritual life and get outside their comfort zone. The final chapter of Lost and Found Along The Way instructs fellow sojourners in how to follow Willie's example to strengthen their own faith and share it with those who have lost their own faith―no hiking boots required.

He had a great job, a loving wife, and two talented children. However, he felt completely lost, and all of these relationships were suffering as a result. He struggled with the basic questions of which everyone must find their own answers: Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing with my life? Is there more to life than only what I can see? A chance encounter with a mysterious miracle ignites his curiosity, and a feisty elderly woman named Evelyn becomes part of his journey. Will this complicated and sometimes tumultuous relationship between a middle-aged man and a homebound widow provide just the answers he needs? Will this help him to weather the storms of life threatening to destroy his family? And will this relationship fill a void within her, too, at a time when she finds herself very alone? A heartwarming story of spiritual renewal, When the Lost Seek the Lonely demonstrates that everyone's life is capable of touching someone else and that sometimes God speaks to us in unusual ways. This inspirational novel is a must-read for anyone struggling with their day-to-day life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Introduction: The Gift of Faith When I first put my faith in Christ, He gave me a gift of faith. I thought every Christian received the same gift. In that moment, I suddenly believed God could do anything, absolutely anything. I believed the whole Bible was true, from cover to cover. I believed anything God did in the past He could do again. And I believed He could do even greater things than these—even through me. As Jesus said, “Truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these...” (John 14:12). It wasn’t until several years later, when I took a spiritual gifts “inventory,” that I realized God had given me a “gift” of faith, a supernatural gift to believe God can do supernatural things. And it was then that I realized God wanted me to use this gift as He wanted all of us to use our gifts—for building up others in their faith. Or, as the Apostle Paul says, “to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12-13). But I wondered how to do this. As I asked others, they said that whenever I would tell them my stories of faith—how God had worked in my life—they were encouraged in their faith to believe that God could work in their lives too. Yes! That made sense. When people needed a boost in their faith, I could give them some of mine. Isn’t that the way with all of our gifts? When people need wisdom or money or healing or help or encouragement, we share with them whatever wisdom or money or healing or help or encouragement we have been given (see 1 Corinthians 12-14). So I began that day sharing my stories of faith in a more intentional way—writing them down, sending them out, and telling them to others when they needed a lift. And that’s what I’m doing with this book for you. If you need a boost in your faith, if you need to believe that God can do something impossible for you, if you need to know that God is real, that He loves you, that He is FOR you and has a purpose for your life, then this book is for you. Because, along with hope and love, faith is one of the top three things we all need in life (see 1 Corinthians 13:13). With that as an introduction, I’d like to begin telling you a few of my stories of faith, starting with the day I was born. Well, not that far back! I’ll start with the day I was born again, at age 23, the day I put my faith in Christ—and He put His gift of faith in me. Eric Elder

Book excerpt: This collection draws heavily from the core devotional strain in Miller’s poetry, offering what novelist Fenton Johnson described in his review of Iron Wheel as “the vision and experience of that place where dark merges seamlessly into light; the house and home of grace—unasked for and perhaps undeserved, but transformative all the same.” Framed by meditations on the beginnings and possible post-human ends of culture, the new poems reflect on the callings and limits of art in responding to desire, history, mortality, and injustice. Set in the American South, Wales, France, the Czech Republic, and Sudan, the poems address and invoke the divine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholars and the faithful have many honest differences about the authorship and authenticity of the Gospel stories. Were they revealed by God? Were they shaped, edited, and chosen by those who survived persecution and eventually organized the church? What might have been omitted from among all the events—known and unknown—that swirled around Jesus’ short life? This novel reimagines key aspects of the life of Jesus using sixteen “tales” told by minor characters mentioned or implied in the Bible. These witnesses tell of his birth, the development of his belief system, and their own roles in the miracles that later became glorified in the Bible. What emerges is Jesus’ humanistic ethic—compassion for the poor and marginal, primacy of love over hate and power, and essential worth of both sexes. The novel imagines conversations Jesus might have had with these witnesses, with his doubts, humility, and faith displayed in terms we might understand today. These forgotten stories help him emerge from the shadows as the true Son of Man.

Book excerpt: A holistic, positive answer to modernist and post-modernist challenges to Christian faith. Recent trends in theology have adapted to what has been assumed to be universally valid scientific thinking, thereby contributing to the erosion of traditional protestant belief. Pointing to parable as a tool of understanding and appealing to aesthetic appreciation as an analogy, the author makes an impassioned call for a return to an assured biblical faith. The answer lies in a fuller epistemology and a profounder ontology to explain the universe and man’s place in it.

Book excerpt: When we become Christians, we consciously repent of our bad habits--a promise to make a 180° turn from habits that displease God toward habits that please Him. We do this through and by faith alone. Yet faith alone does not suddenly “make good” our promise. It is our faith that gives us the reason to act upon our promise, but our action is still needed. So how do we put action into our plan? How do we rid ourselves of these bad habits and substitute habits that are in God’s will? This book will help you do just that…create a lifestyle of doing God’s will. You will learn how to: * Develop a lifestyle of greater respect for God * Love God with all of your being * Learn to love and care for others * Witness in a way that takes your personality and abilities into account * Develop a lifestyle where Bible study is a throughout-the-day activity And that’s why this book is called LET’S GET GROWING, CHRISTIANS! It’s about practically applying plans of action to get you growing as a Christian—living a life of doing God’s will.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace..." (I Peter 4:10). The women whose stories are in these pages display many exceptional traits. They are wise, dependable, thrifty, energetic, and unselfish. They are good wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. Some will stand out in one or more of these spheres, while others will shine in different areas. But there is one thing they all have in common: they were all very courageous. How do these women show their courage? Many will exhibit grace under fire. They have a strong presence of mind. They are able to act decisively because they are sure of their convictions. A courageous woman can say, "I'm sorry," and mean it. She is gracious. Courageous women depend on God. They trust Him and accept His will in their lives. They are willing to accept what God gives them in their lives. When they perceive His will, they put their all into the tasks before them. Brave women are willing to take a stand for what they believe. They will draw a line in the sand and not cross it. Unjust powers, no matter how fearsome, will not deter them from their righteous goals. Courageous women also love others. They are unselfish. They put the needs of others ahead of their own. Their confidence in God's call in their lives is high enough to free them to be able to act independently. Women of courage will share Christ's gospel of peace, forgiveness, joy, and love with others. We live in uncertain times. Only the courageous woman will get through the perils holding her head up high. In these stories, we have examples before us of how a victorious life can be lived.
