Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philip Lee Gardner was born and lived on a farm in Indiana. He is a part of a family of preachers as his father, his three brothers and his brother-in-law as well as he himself were part of the ministry in one phase or another. He graduated from Mays High School in Mays, Indiana and then from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo. Later he received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree for the work he did in India, Russia and Haiti. His ministries have been for churches with membership from 15 to 1,100. A lot of his time was spent in counseling and helping people working through marital problems. He has personally seen and experienced many of the things he writes about as he has been in more than one marriage. Because of his background he desires to help other people profit from his mistakes. He wants to pass on lessons he has observed others learn, as well as what the scriptures say on the subject. He is not an advocate of a second marriage but he has been there and done that and wants to help others be more successful in following God's plan for the home.

Book excerpt: Perhaps the closest a human being comes to visiting another planet is to descend into the sea.In Soundings, Kennedy Warne connects his lifelong exploration of the underwater world with a global story of humanity' s relationship with the sea.Drawing on more than 20 years of fieldwork for National Geographic, he shares experiences that range from diving with harp seals under the sea ice of the Gulf of St Lawrence to following the legendary &‘ sardine run' along South Africa' s Wild Coast; from watching turret-building ghost crabs in Arabia to witnessing the impact of dynamite fishing in the Philippines; from swimming with crocodiles in the Okavango Delta to finding seahorses on the Eastern Cape. From a myriad underwater encounters a wider conversation emerges about human engagement with the sea. One question dominates: How can we care for and reconnect with the oceans around us?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone seeking to live a godly life will suffer some oppression; this mission is inescapable. Therefore, we ought not to be amazed when it comes. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf (1 Peter 4:16). God has the answers to all our problems and is always true to his word. But He never put a time frame on it. He is never in a hurry! There is nothing we can do to speed him up, nor help him out. We must wait! Pain and suffering teach us not only to wait on God but to trust his timing. Trusting His timing helps to solidify our faith and enhance our spiritual progression. Just when things look hopeless, and the future looks uninviting, God will show up and show his powers. God is in full control. Waiting on God requires faith and a whole lot of patience. Dont become weary in well doing for God has promised to reward those who wait on him. From Tribulations to Restoration is an inspiring spiritual handbook that is designed to help believers face difficulties faithfully. The author, Debra Sanders Clark, encourages readers to trust Gods Word and provision to get through lifes most difficult moments. After reading this book, readers will be able to: -evaluate their lives and their relationship with Christ -understand Gods unconditional love, His faithfulness and His promises -become empowered, to grow spiritually During difficult times, we are encouraged to remain faithful and trust God. Because one day soon the waves will subside and suddenly we will find ourselves on the other side of the storm. Then we can shout, thank you Lord, I made it over, I couldnt made this journey without you.

Book excerpt: International Marine Mammal Law is a comprehensive, introductory volume on the legal regimes governing the conservation and utilisation of marine mammals. Written as a textbook, it provides basic overviews of international conservation law, which enable the reader to understand the greater implications of governance of a specific group of species. Paired with biological information on some marine mammal species, the international regimes for whales, seals and polar bears are explored — either as part of global regimes of international environmental governance or as regimes that were specifically designed for them. The book concludes with outlooks on the future of international marine mammal law, particularly in light of Japan’s withdrawal from the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling in July 2019.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joseph Bates was born in 1792 in Rochester, Massachusetts. At the age of fifteen, he accepted a job as a cabin boy aboard the Fanny, sailing from New York City to London. Thus began his career on the high seas, which culminated in Joseph becoming a respected ship captain. During one of his trips, Joseph read the Bible his wife had packed in his trunk and was converted. Thus set in motion his most important quest—developing a deeper understanding of Scripture and a deeper love for his Lord and Savior. In 1839 Bates accepted the teachings of William Miller. Then, months after the Great Disappointment, in the spring of 1845, Joseph accepted the seventh-day Sabbath truth. Consequently, he shared this good news with James and Ellen White, which resulted in his second career as a speaker, writer, and founding pioneer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which was formed in 1863. The Autobiography of Elder Joseph Bates provides an in-depth look into his childhood, his adventures traversing the ocean, his conversion and the reform movements he supported, and his study of Scripture and the biblical truths he discovered.
