The use of these modes allows unambiguous flavor tagging and a combined fit of the D[sup 0] decay time and D*[sup +]-D[sup 0] mass difference ([Delta]M) distributions. The high-statistics sample of unmixed semileptonic D[sup 0] decays is used to model the [Delta]M distribution and time-dependence of mixed events directly from the data. Neural networks are used to select events and reconstruct the D[sup 0]. A result consistent with no charm mixing has been obtained. R[sub mix] = 0.0023 [+-] 0.0012 [+-] 0.0004. This corresponds to an upper limit of R[sub mix]

Results are compared to previous BABAR analysis using hadronic decays. Book excerpt: We set a preliminary 95% C.L. exclusion on the oscillation frequency of B[sub s][sup 0]-[bar B][sub s][sup 0] mixing using a sample of 350,000 hadronic Z[sup 0] decays collected by the SLD experiment at the SLC during the 1997-98 run. The analyses determine the b-hadron flavor at production by exploiting the large forward-backward asymmetry of polarized Z[sup 0][yields] b[bar b] decays as well as information from the hemisphere opposite that of the reconstructed B decay. In one analysis, B decay vertices are reconstructed inclusively with a new topological technique, and separation between B[sub s][sup 0] and[bar B][sub s][sup 0] decays exploits the B[sub s][sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup -] cascade charge structure. In the other analysis, semileptonic decays are selected and the B decay point is reconstructed by intersecting a lepton track with the trajectory of a topologically reconstructed D meson. The two analyses are combined with a third analysis described elsewhere to exclude the following values of the B[sub s][sup 0]-[bar B][sub s][sup 0] mixing oscillation frequency:[Delta]m[sub s]

Book excerpt: The time dependence of B[sub d][sup 0]-B[sub d][sup 0] mixing has been measured using a sample of 150,000 hadronic Z[sup 0] decays collected by the SLD experiment at the SLC between 1993 and 1995. The analysis identifies the semileptonic decays of B mesons with high (p, p[sub t]) leptons and reconstructs the B meson decay length and charge by vertexing the lepton with a partially reconstructed D meson. Vertex charge is used to enrich the selection of neutral over charged B mesons. This method results in a sample of 581 neutral decays with high charge purity. The B candidate is tagged at production with a combined tag that exploits the large polarized b forward-backward asymmetry in conjunction with the opposite hemisphere b jet charge. The final state is tagged by the sign of the high (p, p[sub t]) lepton. From their preliminary analysis the authors find a mass difference between the two B[sub d][sup 0] mass eigenstates of, [Delta]m[sub d]= 0.452[+-] 0.074(stat)[+-] 0.049(syst) ps[sup[minus]1].
