Book excerpt: I report on a measurement of \CP-violating asymmetries ($A_{\Gamma}$) between effective lifetimes of $D^0$ or $\bar{D}^0$ in fully reconstructed $D^0\to K^+ K^-$ and $D^0\to \pi^+\pi^-$ decays collected in $p\bar{p}$ collisions by the Collider Detector at Fermilab experiment. The full CDF data set corresponding to $9.7$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity is used. The flavor of the charm meson at production is determined by exploiting the strong-interaction decay $D^{*+} \to D^0 \pi^+$, while the contamination from mesons originated in $b$-hadron decays is evaluated and subtracted from the sample. Signal yields as functions of the observed decay-time distributions are extracted from maximum likelihood fits and used to measure the asymmetries. The results, $A_\Gamma (K^+K^- ) = \bigl( -1.9 \pm 1.5 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 0.4 \mathrm{(syst)} \bigr)\times10^{-3}$ and $A_\Gamma (\pi^+\pi^- )= \bigl( -0.1 \pm 1.8 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 0.3 \mathrm{(syst)} \bigr)\times10^{-3}$, and their combination, $A_\Gamma = \bigl( -1.2 \pm 1.2\bigr)\times10^{-3}$, are consistent with the SM predictions and other experimental determinations.

I have seen no review comparable to the excellent summary of electric dipole moments by S Barr and W Marciano … the volume offers a generally readable entry into this field for a reader who has a basic background in particle physics.” John F Donoghue Science “… this book performs a very useful service for anyone active or interested in CP violation, both as a source of primary information and as a work of reference.” K J Peach J Phys. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We measure CP-violating asymmetries of neutral charmed mesons in the modes D° → K−K and D° →?−?+ with the highest precision to date by using D° → K−?+ decays to correct detector asymmetries. An analysis of 385.8 fb−1 of data collected with the BaBar detector yields values of a{sup KK}{sub CP} = (0.00 ± 0.34 (stat.) ± 0.13 (syst.))% and a{sup?{pi}}{sub CP} = ( -0.24 ± 0.52 (stat.) ± 0.22 (syst.))%, which agree with Standard Model predictions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on the final measurement of the CP-violating $B_s^0$ mixing phase $\beta_s^{J/[psi][phi]}$ in √s = 1.96 TeV proton-antiproton collisions collected with the Collider Detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Using a sample corresponding to 9.6 fb-1 of integrated luminosity, we fit the decay-time evolution of $B_s^0$ → J/[psi] (→ [mu]+ [mu]-) [phi] (→ K+ K−) decays in which the b-quark content at production and the CP parity of the final state are identified. The interference of decays with and without mixing renders the $B_s^0$ mixing phase observable. The phase is determined to be -0.06

Download or read book Search for CP Violation in B0 to D(*)±K0 Π± Decays written by Troels C. Petersen and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the idea of considering three-body decays with final state B to DKpi in the pursuit of the notoriously elusive unitary angle gamma, the initial steps towards its measurement are presented. Using a sample of approximately 88 million BBbar pairs collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II collider, a measurement of the branching fractions BO to D+- KO pi-+ and BO to D*+- KO pi-+ are presented for the entire Dalitz region: Br(BO to D+- KO pi-+) = (4.97 +- 0.69 +- 0.55) x 10^(-4) Br(BO to D*+- KO pi-+) = (3.00 +- 0.66 +- 0.29) x 10^(-4). In both decay modes the dominant resonance is the K*+-(892) between the neutral kaon and the charged pion. Measuring the branching fractions of the corresponding resonant two-body decays yields: Br(BO to D+- K*-+) = (4.78 +- 0.58 +- 0.53) x 10^(-4) Br(BO to D*+- K*-+) = (3.22 +- 0.59 +- 0.29) x 10^(-4). Performing a time-dependent CP asymmetries fit of the resonant decay mode BO to D+- K*-+ yields: C = 0.93 +- 0.18 +- 0.03 ABS[lambda] = 0.19 +- 0.25 +- 0.04 S = 0.18 +- 0.28 +- 0.02 Delta S = 0.08 +- 0.28 +- 0.02. As the amplitude ratio ABS[lambda] is consistant with zero, no interference sensitive to gamma can be established at this point.

Book Synopsis CP Violation in the D0 -] Pi+ Pi- Decay at CDF. by :
Download or read book CP Violation in the D0 -] Pi+ Pi- Decay at CDF. written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a measurement of the CP violating asymmetry in D° →??− decays using approximately 215,000 decays reconstructed in about 5.94 fb−1 of CDF data. We use the strong D*+ → D°?+ decay ('D* tag') to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP-conserving strong c{bar c} pair-production in p{bar p} collisions. Higher statistic samples of Cabibbo-favored D° → K−?+ decays with and without D* tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. The result, A{sub CP}(D° →?+?−) = [0.22 ± 0.24 (stat.) ± 0.11 (syst.)]%, is the world's most precise measurement to date and it is fully consistent with no CP violation.
Book Synopsis Search for CP Violation Using $T$-odd Correlations in $D0̂ \to K+̂ K-̂ \pi+̂ \pi-̂$ Decays by :
Download or read book Search for CP Violation Using $T$-odd Correlations in $D0̂ \to K+̂ K-̂ \pi+̂ \pi-̂$ Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We search for CP violation in a sample of 4.7 x 104 Cabibbo suppressed D° → KK−?+?− decays. We use 470 fb−1 of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e− storage rings running at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. CP violation is searched for in the difference between the T-odd asymmetries, obtained using triple product correlations, measured for D° and {bar D}° decays. The measured CP violation parameter is A{sub T} = (1.0 ± 5.1{sub stat} ± 4.4{sub syst}) x 10−3.

Book Synopsis Search for CP Violation in Hyperon Decays by :
Download or read book Search for CP Violation in Hyperon Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Direct CP violation in nonleptonic hyperon decays can be established by comparing the decays of hyperons and anti-hyperons. For [Xi] decay to [Lambda] [pi] followed by [Lambda] to p[pi], the proton distribution in the rest frame of Lambda is governed by the product of the decay parameters [alpha]{sub {Xi}} [alpha]{sub [Lambda]}. The asymmetry A{sub {Xi}[Lambda]}, proportional to the difference of [alpha]{sub {Xi}}[alpha]{sub {Lambda}} of the hyperon and anti-hyperon decays, vanishes if CP is conserved. We report on an analysis of a fraction of 1997 and 1999 data collected by the Hyper CP (E871) collaboration during the fixed-target runs at Fermilab. The preliminary measurement of the asymmetry is [Alpha]{sub {Xi}{Lambda}} = [-7 ± 12(stat) ± 6.2(sys)] x 10−4, an order of magnitude better than the present limit.

Book Synopsis Measurement of CP-Violating Asymmetries in $D^0 \to \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $D^0 \to K^+ K^- $ Decays at CDF. by :
Download or read book Measurement of CP-Violating Asymmetries in $D^0 \to \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $D^0 \to K^+ K^- $ Decays at CDF. written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a search for non-Standard Model physics through the measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in the singly-Cabibbo- suppressed $D^0 \to \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $D^0 \to K^+ K^- $ decays reconstructed in about 5.9 fb-1 of CDF data. We use the strong $D^{*+} \to D^0\pi^+$ decay ("D tag") to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP-conserving strong cc pair-production in pp collisions. Large samples of Cabibbo-favored $D^0 \to K^-\pi^+$ decays with and without D tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. The results are the world's most precise measurements to date and have been published by Physical Review D in January 2012 [1].
