King Sarthak of the mighty kingdom of Manukeshwar faces this great dilemma in naming his successor. The contenders to the throne are the upright and virtuous Kanishka, son of a learned Rishi, and his own firstborn, the selfish and arrogant Prince Jaivant. Breaking centuries of oppressive tradition, the King names the valorous commoner as heir. Humiliated and aggrieved, Jaivant bides his time. Using age-old deceit and treachery, he succeeds in usurping the throne. But he does not anticipate the resolve of the ascetic warrior. The stage is set for a mighty struggle. Through an interlinked web of events and emotion, through love, envy, deceit and romance, the book tells the story of a crusade to restore dharma in a kingdom afflicted by despotic dynastic rule. Sattva Rajas Tamas is the story of powerful opposing forces. It is also the tale of a man’s remarkable resolve to keep fighting for truth and justice, to never give up. The ancient tale has disconcerting parallels in our modern times. Though the times have changed, the conflict between dharma and adharma has not.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents our experiences, our journey - of my two brothers and me in quizzing. Its written mostly by Satish in discussion with his brothers Yogesh and Suresh Pai.We began quizzing when we were in schools and college across Hyderabad and Vijayawada. We took part in nearly every college quiz in and around Andhra Pradesh in the late 80s and early 90s, and also at some college fests and later open quizzes across India.Quizzing today is vastly vastly different from the pre-internet era where small towns had a disadvantage over the metros given limited access to libraries and knowledge/ trivia banks. However the more quizzes we took part in, we learnt that those from small towns were not very different from metro folk, and across the years we realised we could crack even the national quizzes. There's a lot more interest and awareness of quizzing in India today not just due to the popularity of TV shows like KBC, but also a greater participation and sponsorship by the business and local communities and institutions. In fact what as a full-time career was not imaginable when we grew up, is now possible given how prevalent quizzing is in India. This book would help put perspective of quizzing as it is today, its evolution, as well as tips on how to be a better quizmaster and participant. The book chronicles several aspects of quizzing as we experienced it and as we grew into our adult lives. We cover some of our experiences in smaller town India and the challenges and unique circumstances we faced. The book also talks about the different types of quizzes. quizmasters, questions, formats etc that had been used and re-invented today. We will talk about a few of our favorite quizmasters and what made them stand out in our memories. The key aspect of this book we think is its easy-to-read style - somewhere between a relaxed leisure book, a magazine as well as a compendium of learning's. While there are sections, it will not be one continuous long essay and instead will contain snippets on the topic (max 3 pages each) compiled in an interesting sequence. The reader can start anywhere, read a piece within a couple of minutes, as well as move to another different piece elsewhere in the book. The entire book should be readable within a flight or overnight at most. Some chapters have sample questions to illustrate the points being made, and the focus has been in making this book and quizzing interesting, inspiring and memorably distinct. We hope it inspires parents of children, as well as students reading it. Overall this is meant to be a fun leisure book to read. This might resonate especially with those who have been on a similar journey and had roots in smaller towns and what they experienced and faced when they hit the metros or reached a national level from local/ regional. We earnestly hope this will inspire them too.
