Fresh, very virulent pus was obtained from a child a few weeks old, suffering from purulent Ophthalmia. One drop was placed under each upper lid, the eyes closed with a light bandage. A violent inﬂammation set in within twenty-four hours, accompanied with extreme chemosis, great oedema of the lids, purulent secretion very pro fuse. Constitutional disturbance not very great, and with the exception of the great tention of the lids, he did not suffer much pain. Opiates were not required, nor were any applications made to the eyes. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.
