Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Salt Johnson has had his heart broken, or at least his ego dented, but he's about to meet a man who wipes away every bad memory Salt ever had. Saul 'Salt' Johnson had a crush on the wrong man. No surprise. He doesn't have much experience when it comes to relationships despite his age. Being a cowboy in Montana means keeping in the closet, which has left Salt with a long line of one-night stands. Getting hired on at the Mossy Glenn changes all of that, and he's beginning to see that maybe he can have more than he's been settling for. He just doesn't expect to find it with another one-night stand. Andy Calder spent years taking care of his brother Destry and helping to raise his nephew, Ty. Now both are gone—Destry passed away and Ty being raised by Andy's spiteful younger brother. Andy hasn't forgiven himself for being manipulated after Destry's death. He just hopes Ty is happy. Andy's working hard to build up the company he'd started with Destry, wanting to leave Ty a legacy he could build on. Things just aren't going as planned, and when he decides to blow off some steam with a sexy, rough cowboy, they end up connecting in a way neither of them ever expected. It's definitely not a one-night stand kind of thing.

Book excerpt: In the second book of the series about The Mustang Club, entitled Rides Again, Boots and Saddles, the personal memory continues. The phrase Boots and Saddles refers to the cavalry bugle call which told the troopers it was time to get on the trail. Like the soldiers of the old west the club members took to the open road. They ventured forth to again devote themselves to the duty and honor wrought in the prestige of the muscle cars they owned.Memories came back into their lives as they took into account the new meaning which came with their graduation. Each young man had kept his car in tip top shape. Polished until the sun was like an orb that reflected the endearment shown his love. That love was not misplaced. Like a trusted old horse, when needed it would take the saddle. Then to muster forth as the challenge was issued by the throated rumble when the boots pumped the throttle. Reflections sometimes grow dim with the passage of the years. The trails embarked upon take us to different places to meet new faces and garner a taste of an intriguing love. And when at a crossroads by chance perhaps the meeting shares the memories. That faint rumble, like a distant thunder still invokes the passion.

Book Synopsis United States Military Saddles, 1812-1943 by :
Download or read book United States Military Saddles, 1812-1943 written by and published by University of Oklahoma Press. This book was released on 1988-09-01 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A large part of American history was written from the seat of a military saddle. While the United States Army used horse-mounted fighting men from the very beginning, it was in the nineteenth century - from the decade before the Mexican War through the Indian wars - that the dashing cavalry units captured the American imagination. The horse solders remained part of the army until 1943, when the military converted them to mechanized forces. Even so, West Point did not tear down its stables and abandon its riding-proficiency requirement until 1947. The long retention of the cavalry was due to affection for the memory of the glorious role of the cavalry in American military history.

Book excerpt: Combining humorous and serious real-life events and the author's everyday observations and memories, Stable Stories is an entertaining continuation of Green's first book, Tales from the Saddle. I remember when I was down in the Sierra Vista area, you know, just being a plain old country boy and not expecting much out of life to get involved in the stable business and ranch business, to make contact, rub shoulders, communicate with so many celebrities. It s kind of an unbelievable story, but this happened to me. I didn't t go out looking for it. It just came to me in the type of work I was doing. So, it goes to show you, if you re working at the right place, at the right stable, good things will come your way. And so will memories that will last forever

Book Synopsis Boots and Saddles by : Elizabeth Bacon Custer
Download or read book Boots and Saddles written by Elizabeth Bacon Custer and published by Digital Scanning Inc. This book was released on 1999-05 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boots and Saddles is in reality a bright and sunny sketch of the life of Mrs. Custer's late husband, General George A. Custer, who fell at the battle of Little Big Horn. After the war, General Custer was sent to the Indian frontier. His wife was of the party and she is able to give in minute detail the story of her husband's varied career since she was almost always near the scene of his adventures. She touches on themes little canvassed by the civilian, and makes a volume equally redolent of a loving devotion to an honored husband and attractive as a picture of necessary duty by the soldier.
