Book excerpt: You can call me Ryan is book one of a seven part series called "the Unity of the Faith series". Unity of the Faith is a concept laid out by the Apostle Paul in Ephesians chapter 4. This book follows Ryan, a 38-year-old bakery chain owner, who is brought back to God by a series of hard to ignore events. God calls Ryan to be a modern day prophet and member of the foretold 144,000 army of God as prophesied in the Book of Revelation. God helps Ryan fix the things that ail him in his life that Ryan didn't even understand were holding him back. Ryan tries to emulate the Apostle Paul but discovers he is something altogether different and God gives Ryan the opportunity to lead a modern day Pentecost as the Apocalypse begins. David Campion describes himself as a very common man. Writing has always been somewhat of a hobby for him and he says that he never saw himself as an author. Instead he always thought more of himself as a father, husband and friend first. He describes himself as privately spiritual but discovered a love of writing as an outlet for expressing his faith in God. David's first professional writing experience came as a member of the United States Army as a broadcast and print journalist. He has permanent veteran status and is extremely proud of his service to his country. David says his motives for writing, are from a deep felt empathy for his fellow Christians and country. That his deepest desires are to see Christians put aside what separates them and join together in their common love of Christ and to therefore be able to return his country to being a true Christian nation.

Book excerpt: A prologue describes the location and beautiful physical setting of the story and sets the western theme of self-reliance and willingness to fight for survival in a hostile world. Colorado Palmer-Winston is the attractive young Mayor of a small city struggling for prosperity in the rural backwater of the Cowboy State. The success of her ranch, her city, her marriage and even her physical safety are threatened by the criminal activities of aggressive strangers who flood into the area in search of mineral riches. The laid-back, friendly cattle culture is contrasted with competitive amoral ambitions of mining industry newcomers. Crime appears, along with environmental degradation of rivers, prairie and ranchlands that change the landscape of the new mining region. Social and political issues of the Korean War period impact everyone affected by the uranium discovery and many lives are changed forever. The story of Milo Harris, a black cowboy, and his love affair with a white businesswoman explores racial bias of the pre-Rosa Parks era. You may have been born too late remember the days before color television, computers and cell phones but there was a rich culture and technology that foreshadowed the rapid progress of the latter half of the century.

Book excerpt: Gale: the Time Transport Man is a humorous fictional book about the titular character's retired United States Marine Corps buddies, Uncle Al, Trevor, and his best friend, Louis, referred to as the gang. This book is also about Gale, who is a hopeless romantic and is in and out and back in love and how he copes losing for a year his love Michelle, then Crystal. The affair with Crystal and the sequential divorce found Gale in a new union with Ryan. Only a midlife crisis has Ryan wanting to fill a void, her being bisexual, along with Gale's lesbian daughter Naya and granddaughter Keke and how Gale handles this matter. Gale can freeze time and change time and can go back in time and into the future. He can freeze himself, and no one can see or touch him, making him, in a sense, invisible. He can also transport people, things, or himself. He has telepathy, and lastly, he can float. Gale, the Time Transport Man hangs out on Earth, but he is not from Earth. He also hangs out on Earth 2, which is in the twenty-sixth century, the seventh dimension, in the year 2501, some 479 years into Earth's future, but he is not from Earth 2. Gale is actually from Earth 3, which is in the thirty-second century, the thirteenth dimension, in the year 3100, some 1,079 years into Earth's future and six hundred years into Earth 2's future, or six generations has passed. And Earth 2 has no idea that Earth 3 exists. Gale, who lives in Wyandanch, New York, drives an electric self-driving/flying SUV car/helicopter with solar panel roof. Besides his former employment in the Marine Corps and as a chief in the Department of Corrections, he is presently a college professor teaching at Farmingdale State College, in Farmingdale, New York.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 18 Holes with Teddy Greenstein is a collection of articles from Greenstein's Chicago Tribune column detailing his time golfing with and interviewing various sports coaches, broadcasters, and players — some more experienced than others in the game of golf. Greenstein has played with a wide number of sports influencers, both retired and active: members of the Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks, as well as Heisman Trophy winners, hall of famers, and course designers. Greenstein includes the interviewee's handicap, final score, and golf philosophy, while his light, conversational style makes for articles that are both humorous and informative. Greenstein refers to his "18 holes with..." column as "journalism's greatest scam," as it allows him to tee off with some of his greatest heroes — but it also allows him to share their stories. 18 Holes with Teddy Greenstein gives readers a glimpse at sports celebrities when they are removed from their comfort zones and placed on the fairway. This collection, from a seasoned Chicago Tribune journalist, is perfect for all fans of golf — from casual to fanatic — and sports fans in general.
