Nous pouvons même nous demander s'il n'y a plus guère que l'école qui confronte les enfants à l'écriture manuelle... Et dans ce cas, les enfants prêtent-ils encore une utilité à cette façon d'écrire? D'après la mise en parallèle des mécanismes d'apprentissage de l'écriture manuscrite et des mécanismes d'apprentissage de l'écriture à l'ordinateur, ce mémoire cherche à déterminer les troubles de l'écriture pour lesquels l'utilisation de l'ordinateur semble indiquée, et donc sur quelles données se base la prescription d'un telle aide. Par ailleurs, lorsque l'on prescrit un ordinateur à un enfant pour lui faciliter la tâche d'écriture, laissse-t-on pour autant de côté l'apprentisage de l'écriture? Car selon certains auteurs, l'apprentissage de l'écriture manuelle présente des avantages non négligeables, permettant à l'enfant de s'approprier le langage écrit, et d'accéder plus facilement à l'élaboration du sens. Qu'en est-il alors, des enfants à qui l'on prescrit un ordinateur comme aide technique à lapprentissage de l'écriture? Suivant ces questionnements, ce mémoire s'interroge également sur la place de l'orthophonie dans la rééducation de l'écriture, face aux autres professions concernées. Quelles spécificités possède l'orthophoniste en matière de prise en charge de l'écriture? L'ordinateur a-t-il un rôle à prendre au sein de cette prise en charge? Notre approche considère les enfants et adolescents présentant des troubles de l'écriture isolés ou associés à diverses autres pathologies.

Research has consistently demonstrated significant and substantial correlations between reading fluency and overall reading achievement. Despite the great potential for fluency to have a significant outcome on students’ reading achievement, it continues to be not well understood by teachers, school administrators and policy makers. The chapters in this volume examine reading fluency from a variety of perspectives. The initial chapter sketches the history of fluency as a literacy instruction component. Following chapters examine recent studies and approaches to reading fluency, followed by chapters that explore actual fluency instruction models and the impact of fluency instruction. Assessment of reading fluency is critical for monitoring progress and identifying students in need of intervention. Two articles on assessment, one focused on word recognition and the other on prosody, expand our understanding of fluency measurement. Finally, a study from Turkey explores the relationship of various reading competencies, including fluency, in an integrated model of reading. Our hope for this volume is that it may spark a renewed interest in research into reading fluency and fluency instruction and move toward making fluency instruction an even more integral part of all literacy instruction.
