Book Synopsis Reliability-Based Mechanical Design, Volume 2 by : Xiaobin Le
Download or read book Reliability-Based Mechanical Design, Volume 2 written by Xiaobin Le and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-01 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A component will not be reliable unless it is designed with required reliability. Reliability-Based Mechanical Design uses the reliability to link all design parameters of a component together to form a limit state function for mechanical design. This design methodology uses the reliability to replace the factor of safety as a measure of the safe status of a component. The goal of this methodology is to design a mechanical component with required reliability and at the same time, quantitatively indicates the failure percentage of the component. Reliability-Based Mechanical Design consists of two separate books: Volume 1: Component under Static Load, and Volume 2: Component under Cyclic Load and Dimension Design with Required Reliability. This book is Reliability-Based Mechanical Design, Volume 2: Component under Cyclic Load and Dimension Design with Required Reliability. It begins with a systematic description of a cyclic load. Then, the books use two probabilistic fatigue theories to establish the limit state function of a component under cyclic load, and further to present how to calculate the reliability of a component under a cyclic loading spectrum. Finally, the book presents how to conduct dimension design of typical components such as bar, pin, shaft, beam under static load, or cyclic loading spectrum with required reliability. Now, the designed component will be reliable because it has been designed with the required reliability. The book presents many examples for each topic and provides a wide selection of exercise problems at the end of each chapter. This book is written as a textbook for senior mechanical engineering students after they study the course Design of Machine Elements or a similar course. This book is also a good reference for design engineers and presents design methods in such sufficient detail that those methods are readily used in the design.

Download or read book Robust Reliability in the Mechanical Sciences written by Yakov Ben-Haim and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the book is to develop methodology for reliablity analysis which is particularly suited to the types of partial information characteristic of mechanical systems and structures. The book is designed as an upper-level undergraduate or first-year graduate text on robust reliability of mechanical systems. It will give the student or engineer a working knowledge of robust reliability which will enable him to analyse the reliability of mechanical systems. Each chapter is introduced with a brief conceptual survey of the main ideas, which are then developed through examples. Problems at the end of each chapter give the student the opportunity to strengthen and extend his or her understanding.

Book Synopsis Reliability Design of Mechanical Systems by : Seongwoo Woo
Download or read book Reliability Design of Mechanical Systems written by Seongwoo Woo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-12 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes basic reliability concepts – parametric ALT plan, failure mechanism and design, and reliability testing with acceleration factor and sample size equation. A generalized life-stress failure model with a new effort concept has been derived and recommended to calculate the acceleration factor of the mechanical system. The new sample size equation with the acceleration factor has also been derived to carry out the parametric ALT. This new parametric ALT should help a mechanical/civil engineer to uncover the design parameters affecting reliability during the design process of the mechanical system. Consequently, it should help companies to improve product reliability and avoid recalls due to the product/structure failures in the field. As the improper or missing design parameters in the design phase are experimentally identified by this new reliability design method - parametric ALT, the mechanical/civil engineering system might improve in reliability by the increase in lifetime and the reduction in failure rate.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechatronics brings together computer science, mechanics and electronics. It enables us to improve the performances of embedded electronic systems by reducing their weight, volume, energy consumption and cost. Mechatronic equipment must operate without failure throughout ever-increasing service lives. The particularly severe conditions of use of embedded mechatronics cause failure mechanisms which are the source of breakdowns. Until now, these failure phenomena have not been looked at with enough depth to be able to be controlled. Provides a statistical approach to design optimization through reliability Presents an experimental approach for the characterization of the development of mechatronic systems in operating mode Analyzes new tools that effect thermal, vibratory, humidity, electric and electromagnetic stresses
Book Synopsis Fiber Optics Engineering by : Mohammad Azadeh
Download or read book Fiber Optics Engineering written by Mohammad Azadeh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-08-05 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the past few decades, information technologies have been evolving at a tremendous rate, causing profound changes to our world and our ways of life. In particular, fiber optics has been playing an increasingly crucial role within the telecommunication revolution. Not only most long-distance links are fiber based, but optical fibers are increasingly approaching the individual end users, providing wide bandwidth links to support all kinds of data-intensive applications such as video, voice, and data services. As an engineering discipline, fiber optics is both fascinating and challenging. Fiber optics is an area that incorporates elements from a wide range of techno- gies including optics, microelectronics, quantum electronics, semiconductors, and networking. As a result of rapid changes in almost all of these areas, fiber optics is a fast evolving field. Therefore, the need for up-to-date texts that address this growing field from an interdisciplinary perspective persists. This book presents an overview of fiber optics from a practical, engineering perspective. Therefore, in addition to topics such as lasers, detectors, and optical fibers, several topics related to electronic circuits that generate, detect, and process the optical signals are covered. In other words, this book attempts to present fiber optics not so much in terms of a field of “optics” but more from the perspective of an engineering field within “optoelectronics.

Book Synopsis Fatigue Testing and Analysis by : Yung-Li Lee
Download or read book Fatigue Testing and Analysis written by Yung-Li Lee and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-04-18 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatigue Testing and Analysis: Theory and Practice presents the latest, proven techniques for fatigue data acquisition, data analysis, and test planning and practice. More specifically, it covers the most comprehensive methods to capture the component load, to characterize the scatter of product fatigue resistance and loading, to perform the fatigue damage assessment of a product, and to develop an accelerated life test plan for reliability target demonstration. This book is most useful for test and design engineers in the ground vehicle industry. Fatigue Testing and Analysis introduces the methods to account for variability of loads and statistical fatigue properties that are useful for further probabilistic fatigue analysis. The text incorporates and demonstrates approaches that account for randomness of loading and materials, and covers the applications and demonstrations of both linear and double-linear damage rules. The reader will benefit from summaries of load transducer designs and data acquisition techniques, applications of both linear and non-linear damage rules and methods, and techniques to determine the statistical fatigue properties for the nominal stress-life and the local strain-life methods. Covers the useful techniques for component load measurement and data acquisition, fatigue properties determination, fatigue analysis, and accelerated life test criteria development, and, most importantly, test plans for reliability demonstrations Written from a practical point of view, based on the authors' industrial and academic experience in automotive engineering design Extensive practical examples are used to illustrate the main concepts in all chapters
