Book excerpt: It's not all about the money; the key to true riches Leo Tolstoy said, "Nobody knows where the human race is going. The highest wisdom, then, is to know where you are going." Yet many today chase the false rabbits of success: status, luxury, reputation and material possessions. In the quest to "have it all," our lives often lack real meaning and purpose. Beyond Wealth is the antidote. New York Times bestselling author Alexander Green takes things right down to brass tacks: We are here for a short time. Knowledge is limitless. Therefore, the most critical knowledge is not any particular skill but rather wisdom about "how to live." Fortunately, men and women have had several thousand years to think about what it means to live "the good life." And the answers found here, from Plato and Aristotle to Mahatma Gandhi and Stephen Hawking, will both surprise and delight you. Beyond Wealth provides insightful commentary on the most important aspects of our lives: love, work, honor, trust, freedom, death, fear, truth, beauty and other timeless issues. The book is both a thought provoking read and the ideal gift, guaranteed to ennoble, uplift and inspire.

Book excerpt: Is Your Life Over as You Know It...Or Simply Just Beginning? The Road to Purpose provides a road map to help guide you through the fear and uncertainty that often comes with life transition. Whether you are a young adult moving from school to your first career, a business owner getting ready to exit the business you have put your heart and soul into, or a seasoned executive recently downsized and figuring out what to do next, you will see yourself in the stories of one man's journey and the lessons learned that resulted in living a life of meaning and purpose. In The Road to Purpose: The Roadmap for Overcoming Life's Major Transitions Greg Pestinger charts the five major growth areas that are often the result of major life-changing events and eloquently delivers signposts along the way to get you past the disappointment, fear, and sometimes, hopelessness. He uses his own stories as a metaphor to help you through your struggles for meaning and purpose, specifically: How to grieve and accept the transition How to get to know yourself all over again, the real you who has often been buried by a busy life How to find the courage to be your authentic self How to resolve to love yourself for who you are How to make the commitment to living a life of awe and wonder The Road to Purpose acknowledges the pain and disappointment of transition and uses that pain to help you live the life you were meant to lead, a life of meaning and purpose. A life full of wealth, happiness, and intention in service to others. Join me on the journey of a lifetime. Your future will be more amazing than you could ever imagine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was born in the years of the baby boomers. At this time, it was the years of segregation. We were poor people, if one would compare those times to today. Now, we would have been considered poor, but no one knew it then as everyone in the community was in the same state odd being. If my family didn’t have certain food or ingredients for their meal, we could go next door and get it. The same would be true if the people next door needed something to complete their meal, they could come to our house, and if we had it, we would give it to them. There were separate water fountains on the streets side by side. However, they were labeled colored only and White only. One day, as I was on the street alone, I drank from the White only fountain. I found that the water was the same as was in the colored only fountain. As people had jobs, without them knowing it, the jobs were a form of legal slavery. The workers had not been out of the community to discover that they were being paid wrong. When I got older and graduated from high school, I left home to attend college, I found that this was true and tried to let the Black workers know. The White owners of the businesses told the Black people not to listen or talk to me as I was a troublemaker. There were many Black athletics in the area, but we were not allowed to play on teams with the White boys as we were not smart enough to compete with them until they were going to other communities to compete with other White teams. Then they wanted us as they found that by using us, they would win.
