Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rising To Meet Our Transformation began as a few thoughts that mushroomed into many ideas that were in my poetic brain flow for quite awhile. Thus I began putting these thoughts into a wide array of poems on paper. Some of these poetic ideas the reader may closely relate to; yet other poetic words may still be more personal and private. As I wrote I allowed the flow of words and ideas to make their impact; then I changed and rearranged where the order and actual word composition required a better flow. Transformation was the key ingredient of this book and in many instances it will be just that. Nonetheless there are poetic thoughts that relate to a different type of change which may not be totally transforming, but at the same time be identifiable. My hope is that there will be a adequate array of poems that would spark the audience. Transformation requires a radical change in our thinking which translates into our personal life and living. Often we change to survive or become enamoured with a new idea that fills our void' so we change while our surroundings remain somewhat intact. Yet in real time our environment will recreate itself so we will eventually be transformed into a new age so let us begin! Bill Leahy December 2013

This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Achieving a long-term acceptable level of manufacturing profitability through productivity requires the total commitment of management teams and all staff in any manufacturing company and beyond. Awareness and continuous improvement of manufacturing costs behind losses and waste is the core goal of the Manufacturing Cost Policy Deployment (MCPD). Achieving this goal will continually uncover the hidden reserves of profitability through a harmonious transformation of the manufacturing flow, coordinated by the continuous need to improve manufacturing costs. Setting annual targets and means for manufacturing costs improvement (more exactly for costs of losses and waste, and the exact fulfillment of these) requires mobilization of all people in the company to carry out systematic improvement activities (kaizen) and systemic improvement actions (kaikaku) of the processes of each product family cost. The MCPD system was born out of careful observation of the challenges, principles, and phenomena of manufacturing companies and the profound discussions with the people in these companies at all levels. Manufacturing Cost Policy Deployment (MCPD) Transformation: Uncovering Hidden Reserves of Profitability is organized in three sections. The first section presents the concept and the need for an MCPD system from a managerial perspective. In the second section, the transformation of manufacturing companies through the MCPD system is presented, more precisely the details of the initial steps of the implementation of the MCPD, the three phases and the seven steps of the MCPD, and the elements necessary for a constant and consistent application of the MCPD. In the last section, there are two examples of the MCPD implementation in two different types of industries, namely, manufacturing and assembly industry and process industry, and two case studies for the improvement of manufacturing costs for each (cost of equipment setup loss, using kaizenshiro; replacement of bottleneck equipment and associated costs of losses, using kaikaku; cost of quality losses with improving operators’ skills to sustain quality, using kaizen; and cost problem solving with the consumption of lubricants for one of the equipment, using A3).

Book excerpt: Thousands of years ago, various streams of Suras travelled to the west from their land of origin in the foothills of the Himalayas, expanding their footprint from present day india to west Asia. New civilisations flourished, and new land routes were established. As rulers of the world, the Suras assumed the title of the Devas, or the gods. With time, the Suras broke up into two groups. Those not agreeing with the strict life principles of the Suras separated, and assumed the label, the Asuras. They were mostly at loggerheads with the Suras, but came together to discover the sea routes in an expedition known as Samudra-Manthan. The journey revealed an amazing world of mysteries. But quarrels broke out for the possession of a wonder plant called Soma. THE RISE OF THE DEVAS is a concept novel that treats ancient legends from a different perspective.

Book excerpt: "Each of these essays is a sharpened weapon for the battles looming large on the horizon." -George Ciccariello-Maher, author of Building the Commune "Combining the most creative thought from the global North and South, Why Don't the Poor Rise Up? promises to be an indispensable resource for understanding why the new revolutionary movement of the 21st century will emerge from the ranks of the most marginalized by capitalism and colonialism." -Ajamu Baraka, editor of Black Agenda Report Even mainstream media like the New York Times and The Economist have recently posed the question: Why don't the poor rise up?, uneasily amazed that capitalism hasn't met with greater resistance. In the context of unparalleled global wealth disparity, ecological catastrophe, and myriad forms of structural oppression, this vibrant collection offers a reassessment of contemporary obstacles to mass mobilization, as well as examples from around the world of poor people overcoming those obstacles in inspiring and instructive new ways. With contributions from Idle No More cofounder Alex Wilson, noted Italian theorist Franco "Bifo" Berardi, and nineteen other scholars and activists from around the world, Why Don't the Poor Rise Up? presents a truly global range of perspectives that explore the question of revolution, its objective and subjective prerequisites, and its increasing likelihood in our time. Ajamu Nangwaya, Ph.D., is an educator at Seneca College with over twenty-five years of experience in community organizing and advocacy. Michael Truscello, Ph.D., is an educator at Mount Royal University and author of the forthcoming book- The Infrastructure Society.

Book excerpt: A leading foreign policy thinker uses Chinese political theory to explain why some powers rise as others decline and what this means for the international order Why has China grown increasingly important in the world arena while lagging behind the United States and its allies across certain sectors? Using the lens of classical Chinese political theory, Leadership and the Rise of Great Powers explains China’s expanding influence by presenting a moral-realist theory that attributes the rise and fall of great powers to political leadership. Yan Xuetong shows that the stronger a rising state’s political leadership, the more likely it is to displace a prevailing state in the international system. Yan shows how rising states like China transform the international order by reshaping power distribution and norms, and he considers America’s relative decline in international stature even as its economy, education system, military, political institutions, and technology hold steady. Leadership and the Rise of Great Powers offers a provocative, alternative perspective on the changing dominance of states.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Change is the law of life. This precept holds for individuals and organi-zations alike. Radical change, called transformation, is not so frequent. Organizational transformation entails fundamental changes that encompass the entire gamut of the organization. A successful transformation exercise begins with formulating a set of Objectives at the beginning and ends up with realizing the desired Outcomes. This book delves deep into the intricacies of the life cycle of organizational transformation and explains how it can be managed effectively adopting a systematic and step-by-step methodology. In this well-researched text, the author, J. Satyanarayana, with his vast and varied experience in the field of management and governance, gives a brilliant exposition of managing transformation. The book postulates the O2O (Objectives to Outcomes) framework as a seven-step methodology. The methodology, in a sense, is a meta-framework for transformation. It harmonizes and synthesizes altogether 40 sub-frameworks, which include some well-known concepts, such as Porter’s Value Chain Framework, Kaplan and Norton’s Balanced Scorecard, and Hammer’s BPR framework. The author illustrates the O2O framework through a Case Study on Passport Seva Project, designed by him, and being implemented all over India to transform the quality of passport-related services provided to the citizens. This text, with its blend of theory and practice, would prove extremely valuable to the students of management and commerce. It should also be a valuable reference book to the administrators and management consultants. KEY FEATURES : By expounding the O2O methodology, the book addresses the managerial requirements of conceptualizing, designing and implement-ing major transformation projects. Focuses on the four principal dimensions of transformation, namely, Process, People, Technology, and Business Model while explaining the major concepts. Interspersed with plenty of examples to illustrate the concepts. Includes chapter-end review questions to drill the students in self-study.
