Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Riding the Tide of Change" is a unique book as it covers both, the metaphysical and physical aspects of preparing for the events often referred to as Earth changes. Unlike many of the metaphysically oriented books on Earth changes, "Riding the Tide of Change" avoids grand theories, sensationalism, or far-out speculations. And unlike most of the disaster preparedness and survival books, it explains clearly that hoarding of food and survival gear is a futile endeavor if you neglect the inner work of opening, healing, and releasing. Based on a view of humans as, above all, spiritual beings the author explains clearly and succinctly the metaphysical laws underlying the process of manifestation and healing. He outlines the role we play as co-creators and why the healing of ourselves and the planet are intricately interwoven. Dr. Luthke explains the stages of the transformation process and gives the reader tools to advance the inner work needed in preparation for a New Millennium. For those who wish to take practical steps towards preparing for the Earth changes, the appendix offers a comprehensive list of preparedness items and where to get them. Accessible, yet profound, "Riding the Tide of Change" offers a message of hope and empowerment! Book excerpt: Cecil Rogers felt life passing him by, so he quit middle management and became a professional sailor, drifting from one adventure to another as the tide changed under him. Riding the tide of the growing Bahamian marijuana smuggling industry, Rogers led flotillas of speedboats, participated in airplane drops, and established hashish trade routes. These experiences culminated in a pivotal role in the largest marijuana smuggling operation in San Francisco history, under the renowned , "King of Pot", Bruce Perlowin. Peppered with history and amusing anecdotes, Ride the Tide details Rogers' search for identity and offers commentary on the Bahama Islands as can be told only by one who has lived a life on the sea.

Download or read book Imdeduya written by Gunter Senft and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents five variants of the Imdeduya myth: two versions of the actual myth, a short story, a song and John Kasaipwalova’s English poem “Sail the Midnight Sun”. This poem draws heavily on the Trobriand myth which introduces the protagonists Imdeduya and Yolina and reports on Yolina’s intention to marry the girl so famous for her beauty, on his long journey to Imdeduya’s village and on their tragic love story. The texts are compared with each other with a final focus on the clash between orality and scripturality. Contrary to Kasaipwalova’s fixed poetic text, the oral Imdeduya versions reveal the variability characteristic for oral tradition. This variability opens up questions about traditional stability and destabilization of oral literature, especially questions about the changing role of myth – and magic – in the Trobriand Islanders' society which gets more and more integrated into the by now “literal” nation of Papua New Guinea.

Download or read book Running Against the Tide written by Captain Lee and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-09-18 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the star of Bravo’s hit reality show Below Deck comes Running Against the Tide, the “Stud of the Sea’s” first-ever memoir recounting his journey from landlocked Saginaw, Michigan to the high seas, where he has spent more than twenty-five years as a superyacht captain. The cast members of Below Deck are known for their catfights, scheming, personal attacks, and long-held grudges, but what keeps viewers coming back week after week is resident hero Captain Lee, the only cast member to appear in all five seasons. But you don’t have to be one of Below Deck’s 1.5 million weekly viewers to appreciate Captain Lee’s story, which offers a glimpse behind-the-scenes at the luxury yachting industry and one of Bravo’s biggest franchises. From having to reclaim his drunk captain's lost papers in the Dominican Republic to unwittingly crewing a drug boat out of Turks and Caicos to navigating the outrageous demands of the super-rich in New York City, Captain Lee's tales from the high seas run the gamut, proving time and time again why he’s a fan favorite: he’s occasionally profane, he’s often surprising, but he’s never dull and, for the first time, he’s here to tell all.
Download or read book Girls in Power written by Laura Fingerson and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Girls in Power offers a fascinating and unique look at the social aspects of menstruation in the lives of adolescent girls—and also in the lives of adolescent boys. Although there has been much research on other aspects of gender and the body, this is one of the few books to examine menstruation and the first to explore how it plays a part in power interactions between boys and girls. Talking openly in single- and mixed-gender settings, individuals and groups of high school–age girls and boys share their interpretations and experiences of menstruation. Author Laura Fingerson reveals that while teens have negative feelings about menstruation, teen girls use their experiences of menstruation as a source of embodied power in their interactions with other girls and with boys. She also explores how boys deal with their own reduced power. The book extends our theoretical and analytical understanding of youth, gender, power, and embodiment by providing a more balanced view of adolescent social life.
