Book Synopsis Inquiries in Philosophical Pragmatics by : Fabrizio Macagno
Download or read book Inquiries in Philosophical Pragmatics written by Fabrizio Macagno and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-11 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Together with the volume “Inquiries in philosophical pragmatics: Linguistic and theoretical issues,” this book provides a journey through the more recent developments of pragmatics, considering both its philosophical and linguistic nature. This first volume is devoted to the theoretical models developed from a philosophical perspective, including both the newest advances of the classical theories and approaches, and pioneering and interdisciplinary ideas proposed to face the challenges of the fields and areas of practice and analysis. The topics investigated, which include implicatures, reference, presupposition, speech acts, metaphor, relevance, and common ground, represent the core of the state of the art in philosophical pragmatics. Research on these matters have been continuously changing the way that we can look at them. This book serves as a collection of works from the most eminent authors who represent the theoretical developments of the approaches that defined this field, together with the new philosophical insights coming from more applied disciplines such as argumentation, discourse analysis, or linguistics. The combination of these two perspectives provides a unique outline of the current research in pragmatics.
Book Synopsis The Drama of the Messiah in Matthew 8 and 9 by : Solomon Pasala
Download or read book The Drama of the Messiah in Matthew 8 and 9 written by Solomon Pasala and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2008 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In contrast to the other synoptic evangelists the author of Matthew proceeded differently in many respects. Why did he modify the text so much and arrange ten miracle narratives one after the other at one stretch with minor interruptions? Why did he place the so-called «miracle chapters» immediately after the Sermon on the Mount. Why did he enclose them between two summary statements on either side? These are only some of the unanswered questions about chapters 8 and 9 of Matthew's Gospel. Beginning with Aristotle's theory of the drama or tragedy, the author suggests that the way the evangelist has reworked and reorganized the miracle narratives is similar to the structure of the classic drama. By discovering the narrative strategies and the discourse aspect, we are able to demonstrate how each episode corresponds to the different moments of a plot such as the initial situation, inciting moment, complication, climax with suspense and finally resolution and denouement.

Book Synopsis Semantica. Forme, Modelli e Problemi by : Paolo Petricca
Download or read book Semantica. Forme, Modelli e Problemi written by Paolo Petricca and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2019-12-13T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Linguistica, semiotica, traduzione by : Donella Antelmi
Download or read book Testi brevi di accompagnamento. Linguistica, semiotica, traduzione written by Donella Antelmi and published by Universitas Studiorum. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Italian Language in the Digital Age by : Georg Rehm
Download or read book The Italian Language in the Digital Age written by Georg Rehm and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-07-25 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This white paper is part of a series that promotes knowledge about language technology and its potential. It addresses educators, journalists, politicians, language communities and others. The availability and use of language technology in Europe varies between languages. Consequently, the actions that are required to further support research and development of language technologies also differ for each language. The required actions depend on many factors, such as the complexity of a given language and the size of its community. META-NET, a Network of Excellence funded by the European Commission, has conducted an analysis of current language resources and technologies. This analysis focused on the 23 official European languages as well as other important national and regional languages in Europe. The results of this analysis suggest that there are many significant research gaps for each language. A more detailed expert analysis and assessment of the current situation will help maximise the impact of additional research and minimize any risks. META-NET consists of 54 research centres from 33 countries that are working with stakeholders from commercial businesses, government agencies, industry, research organisations, software companies, technology providers and European universities. Together, they are creating a common technology vision while developing a strategic research agenda that shows how language technology applications can address any research gaps by 2020.
