Book excerpt: The authors recently demonstrated the reacceleration of a bunched beam through an induction accelerator cell in support of the two-beam accelerator concept. They present the results of this experiment including amplitude and phase measurements of the extracted microwave power at 11.424 GHz. They also describe progress in achieving a two-beam accelerator microwave source design that is efficient and cost effective for linear collider applications.

This book was released on 2012-12-27 with total page 747 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the contributions to the 17th Symposium of STAB (German Aerospace Aerodynamics Association). STAB includes German scientists and engineers from universities, research establishments and industry doing research and project work in numerical and experimental fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, mainly for aerospace but also for other applications. Many of the contributions collected in this book present results from national and European Community sponsored projects. This volume gives a broad overview of the ongoing work in this field in Germany and spans a wide range of topics: airplane aerodynamics, multidisciplinary optimization and new configurations, hypersonic flows and aerothermodynamics, flow control (drag reduction and laminar flow control), rotorcraft aerodynamics, aeroelasticity and structural dynamics, numerical simulation, experimental simulation and test techniques, aeroacoustics as well as the new fields of biomedical flows, convective flows, aerodynamics and acoustics of high-speed trains.

Book Synopsis Cosmic Ray Diffusion in the Galaxy and Diffuse Gamma Emission by : Daniele Gaggero
Download or read book Cosmic Ray Diffusion in the Galaxy and Diffuse Gamma Emission written by Daniele Gaggero and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-07-09 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The original work presented in this thesis constitutes an important contribution to modern Cosmic Ray (CR) physics, and comes during one of the most exciting periods of this field. The first part introduces a new numerical code (DRAGON) to model the CR propagation in our Galaxy. The code is then used to perform a combined analysis of CR data, making it possible to determine their propagation properties with unprecedented accuracy. The second part is dedicated to a theoretical interpretation of the recent crucial experimental results on cosmic electron and positron spectra (PAMELA, Fermi-LAT experiments). Using the tools developed in the first part of the thesis, the author convincingly argues for the existence of a new spectral component, which could arise either from local astrophysical sources, such as pulsars, or from Dark Matter annihilation or decay. This thesis is a highly advanced work; the methods, analysis and results are clearly and carefully presented. This work is set to become an important reference document for any future work in this area.

Book Synopsis Energy Budget in the High Energy Universe by : Junji Hisano
Download or read book Energy Budget in the High Energy Universe written by Junji Hisano and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The existence of materials with very high specific energies greatly exceeding the local virial temperature is best represented by cosmic rays, whose origin has long been a mystery. Recent astrophysical observations in X-ray, gamma-ray, neutrino, and high energy cosmic ray experiments, in conjunction with theoretical studies, have revealed various new aspects of the high energy universe, including promising candidates for cosmic ray acceleration sites. As each approach has its own advantages and limitations, it is expected that joint efforts by experimentalists and theorists in various related fields are essential. The contributions in this volume include observation of the universe through a wide range of techniques for detecting cosmic rays, neutrinos, X-rays and gamma-rays, as well as theoretical considerations in understanding their nature and astrophysical aspects.
