This book was released on 2012-04-02 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The National Planning Policy Framework 2012 sets out the Government's planning policies for England in achieving sustainable development and how these are expected to be applied. It sets out the requirements for the planning system only to the extent that it is relevant, proportionate and necessary to do so. It provides a framework within which local people and their accountable councils can produce their own distinctive local and neighbourhood plans, which reflect the needs and priorities of their communities. This Framework does not contain specific policies for nationally significant projects for which particular considerations apply. Divided into thirteen chapters, with three annexes, it looks at the following areas, including: building a competitive economy; ensuring town centre vitality; supporting a high quality communications infrastructure; delivering high quality homes; protecting the Green Belt; meeting the challenges of climate change, flooding and coastal change; conserving the natural and historic environments and facilitating the sustainable use of minerals.

This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), whether by a hostile nation, a terrorist group, or an individual, poses a potentially serious threat to the U.S. One of the greatest concerns is that a WMD may fall into the hands of terrorists or that terrorists will develop their own WMD. This review evaluated the readiness of the Dept. of Justice (DoJ) and its components to respond to a potential WMD incident. In addition, it examined the readiness of DoJ components¿ field offices in the National Capital Region to respond in a coordinated way to a WMD incident. The report concluded that DoJ as a whole, and components within the Dept., have not implemented adequate WMD response plans. Illustrations.

This book was released on 2006-11-29 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication sets out the national planning policy framework for delivering the Government's housing objectives, and it should be read in conjunction with other relevant statements of national planning and housing policy (particularly PPS1 on sustainable development (2005, ISBN 0117539392) and the forthcoming planning statement on climate change). It has been developed in response to the recommendations of the Barker Review of housing supply (H.M. Treasury, 2004, ISBN 1845320107) and is based on a range of policy issues including: improving the affordability and supply of housing in all communities, including rural areas; achieving high quality housing; securing a mixture of housing in relation to tenure, price and households; and making effective use of existing housing stock. It sets out policies designed to achieve these outcomes, based upon a number of key principles including: sustainable development, a strategic approach to spatial planning and housing, market responsiveness, collaborative working, evidence-based policy approaches, outcome and delivery focus.

Book excerpt: The past several years have seen an increase in the use of toxic weapons -- i.e., inexpensive and easily acquired chemicals and industrial waste -- on the part of state as well as nonstate actors. Nonetheless, little analysis has been done on the nature and extent of this threat either to the military or to the U.S. homeland. This report examines the implications of toxic weapon use for military planning and concludes that such weapons merit further analysis.

The book details current practices, strategies, and the key players involved in emergency management, especially in the U.S. but also around the world.
