Book Synopsis Ultra-Low Field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance by : Robert Kraus Jr.
Download or read book Ultra-Low Field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance written by Robert Kraus Jr. and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is designed to introduce the reader to the field of NMR/MRI at very low magnetic fields, from milli-Tesla to micro-Tesla, the ultra-low field (ULF) regime. The book is focused on applications to imaging the human brain, and hardware methods primarily based upon pre-polarization methods and SQUID-based detection. The goal of the text is to provide insight and tools for the reader to better understand what applications are best served by ULF NMR/MRI approaches. A discussion of the hardware challenges, such as shielding, operation of SQUID sensors in a dynamic field environment, and pulsed magnetic field generation are presented. One goal of the text is to provide the reader a framework of understanding the approaches to estimation and mitigation of low signal-to-noise and long imaging time, which are the main challenges. Special attention is paid to the combination of MEG and ULF MRI, and the benefits and challenges presented by trying to accomplish both with the same hardware. The book discusses the origin of unique relaxation contrast at ULF, and special considerations for image artifacts and how to correct them (i.e. concomitant gradients, ghost artifacts). A general discussion of MRI, with special consideration to the challenges of imaging at ULF and unique opportunities in pulse sequences, is presented. The book also presents an overview of some of the primary applications of ULF NMR/MRI being pursued.

Book excerpt: This two-volume handbook offers a comprehensive and coordinated presentation of SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices), including device fundamentals, design, technology, system construction and multiple applications. It is intended to bridge the gap between fundamentals and applications, and will be a valuable textbook reference for graduate students and for professionals engaged in SQUID research and engineering. It will also be of use to specialists in multiple fields of practical SQUID applications, from human brain research and heart diagnostics to airplane and nuclear plant testing to prospecting for oil, minerals and buried ordnance. While the first volume presents the theory and fabrication of SQUIDs, the second volume is devoted to applications. It starts with an important aspect of the analysis of measured magnetic signals generated by current sources (the inverse problem), and includes several chapters devoted to various areas of application, namely biomagnetism (research on and diagnostics of human brain, heart, liver, etc.), detection of extremely weak signals, for example electromagnetic radiation and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. The volume closes with a chapter on motion detectors and the detection of gravity waves.
Book Synopsis Résonance magnétique nucléaire à SQUID by : Gae͏̈l Paquignon
Download or read book Résonance magnétique nucléaire à SQUID written by Gae͏̈l Paquignon and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences by : W. H. Shafer

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing. house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 25 (thesis year 1980) a total of 10,308 theses titles from 27 Canadian and 214 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 25 reports theses submitted in 1980, on occasion, certain universities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

This book was released on 1997 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'EXPERIENCE A ETE CONCU POUR L'ETUDE DE LA SUPRACONDUCTIVITE DANS DES SYSTEMES A FERMIONS LOURDS, QUI EST PROBABLEMENT DE NATURE NON CONVENTIONNELLE. LEURS PROPRIETES PHYSIQUES DEPENDENT FORTEMENT DE LA QUALITE DES ECHANTILLONS, C'EST POURQUOI ON ETUDIE DES MONOCRISTAUX DE HAUTE QUALITE. A CAUSE DE LA LONGUEUR DE PENETRATION FINIE DE LA RADIOFREQUENCE DANS LES METAUX CECI NECESSITE DE TRAVAILLER A DES FREQUENCES 100KHZ. C'EST DIFFICILE AVEC DES METHODES CONVENTIONNELLES DE RMN, BIEN ADAPTEES POUR DES FREQUENCES TYPIQUES DE >10 MHZ. ET A 100 KHZ, UNE DETECTION A SQUID DEVIENT PLUS SENSIBLE QUE LES METHODES CONVENTIONNELLES. LA PLUS GRANDE PARTIE DE CE TRAVAIL A ETE LA MISE AU POINT DE L'EXPERIENCE. IL A FALLU TROUVER LA GEOMETRIE LA MIEUX ADAPTEE, ECRANTER L'EXPERIENCE DES PERTURBATIONS ELECTROMAGNETIQUES ET DIMINUER LE BRUIT CAUSE PAR LES VIBRATIONS. UNE AUTRE DIFFICULTE EST VENUE DE L'INEVITABLE PARAMAGNETISME DES MATERIAUX DE CONSTRUCTION. IL IMPOSE UNE EXCELLENTE STABILITE EN TEMPERATURE ET D'AUTRES PRECAUTIONS POUR EVITER LES ECHAUFFEMENTS PAR LA RADIOFREQUENCE. DANS NOTRE EXPERIENCE DE RMN A SQUID ON DETECTE LA RELAXATION LONGITUDINALE DE L'AIMANTATION D'UN ECHANTILLON APRES UNE EXCITATION SELECTIVE DES NOYAUX A LA FREQUENCE DE LARMOR (AVEC LES METHODES CONVENTIONNELLES ON UTILISE UNE DETECTION RESONANTE A CETTE FREQUENCE POUR MESURER LA COMPOSANTE TRANSVERSE DE L'AIMANTATION NUCLEAIRE). LA MESURE DU TEMPS DE RELAXATION SPIN-RESEAU EST PAR CONSEQUENT DIRECTE ET LE TEMPS DE DEPHASAGE TRANSVERSE (T#2) N'INFLUENCE PAS LA MESURE. NOTRE EXPERIENCE EST ENTIEREMENT CONTROLEE PAR ORDINATEUR ET PERMET LA MESURE DE T#1 ET DE LA FORME DE RAIE AUTOMATIQUEMENT EN FONCTION DE LA TEMPERATURE DANS UN CHAMP MAGNETIQUE FIXE. LES RESULTATS SUR LES ECHANTILLONS DE TEST MONTRENT BIEN QUE LA SENSIBILITE DU NOUVEAU MONTAGE EST SUFFISANTE POUR L'ETUDE DE MONOCRISTAUX DE SYSTEMES A FERMIONS LOURDS ET A NOTRE CONNAISSANCE, ELLE EST INEGALEE DANS LA LITTERATURE.
