Download or read book Advances in Condition Monitoring and Structural Health Monitoring written by Len Gelman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-02 with total page 759 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprises the selected contributions from the 2nd World Congress on Condition Monitoring (WCCM 2019), held in Singapore in December 2019. The contents focus on digitalisation for condition monitoring with the emergence of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) and the Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT). The book covers latest research findings in the areas of condition monitoring, structural health monitoring, and non-destructive testing which are relevant for many sectors including aerospace, automotive, civil, oil and gas, marine, and manufacturing industries. Different monitoring systems and non-destructive testing methods are discussed to avoid failures, increase lifespans, and reduce maintenance costs of equipment and machinery. The broad scope of the contents will make this book interesting for academics and professionals working in the areas of non-destructive evaluation and condition monitoring.

Book Synopsis Texture and Anisotropy of Polycrystals II by : C. Esling
Download or read book Texture and Anisotropy of Polycrystals II written by C. Esling and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural, as well as man-made, materials are often assumed to behave uniformly, exhibiting equal strength in all directions, because most of them have a polycrystalline structure. The anisotropy of the individual crystals, however, is smoothed out only in the presence of a large number of grains having a random distribution of orientations. In reality, there usually remains an anisotropy due to the existence of preferred orientations. Its magnitude depends upon the statistical distribution of grain orientations - the crystallographic texture or, more simply, the texture. -This governs the extremes, of the physical property of interest, which a single crystal of the material under consideration can exhibit in directional tests. Local variations in texture, as well as the arrangements and types of grain/phase boundaries, may give rise to inhomogeneous material properties. The texture also carries with it information on the history of a material's processing, use and misuse. A knowledge of the texture is a prerequisite for all quantitative techniques of materials characterization, and is based upon the interpretation of diffraction-peak intensities. It is also necessary to model the relationships between microstructural features and physical or mechanical properties. Therefore, the texture is of great value for quality control in a wide range of industrial applications, and in basic materials research.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1041 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the Proceedings of the International Conference on Nuclear Data for Science and Technology held at Jillich in May 1991. The conference was in a series of application oriented nuclear data conferences organized in the past under the auspices of the Nuclear Energy Agency-Nuclear Data Committee (NEANDC) and with the support of the Nuclear Energy Agency-Committee on Reactor Physics (NEACRP). It was the fIrst international conference on nuclear data held in Germany, with the scientific responsibility entrusted to the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry of the Research Centre Jillich. The scientific programme was established by the International Programme Committee in consultation with the International Advisers, and the NEA and IAEA cooperated in the organization. A total of 328 persons from 37 countries and fIve international organizations participated. The scope of these Proceedings extends to a wide range of interdisciplinary topics dealing with measu rement, calculation, evaluation and application of nuclear data, with a major emphasis on numerical data. Both energy and non-energy related applications are considered and due attention is given to some fundamental aspects relevant to the understanding of nuclear data.
