This book was released on 2009-10-28 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most common document formalisation for text classi?cation is the vector space model founded on the bag of words/phrases representation. The main advantage of the vector space model is that it can readily be employed by classi?cation - gorithms. However, the bag of words/phrases representation is suited to capturing only word/phrase frequency; structural and semantic information is ignored. It has been established that structural information plays an important role in classi?cation accuracy [14]. An alternative to the bag of words/phrases representation is a graph based rep- sentation, which intuitively possesses much more expressive power. However, this representation introduces an additional level of complexity in that the calculation of the similarity between two graphs is signi?cantly more computationally expensive than between two vectors (see for example [16]). Some work (see for example [12]) has been done on hybrid representations to capture both structural elements (- ing the graph model) and signi?cant features using the vector model. However the computational resources required to process this hybrid model are still extensive.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial intelligence has now become an indispensible tool at the centre of problem-solving in a huge range of digital technologies, and remains one of the most vibrant topics for discussion and research. This book presents a compilation of the articles presented at the 22nd (2019) edition of the International Conference of the Catalan Association for Artificial Intelligence (CCIA), held in Mallorca, Spain, from 23 – 25 October 2019. This annual conference is an international event that serves as a meeting point for researchers into artificial intelligence based in the area of the Catalan speaking territories and for researchers from around the world. The book is divided into 8 sections. The first contains summaries of the 3 invited talks presented at the conference: ‘New methods for fusing information and the computational brain’, by Javier Fernandez; ‘From correlation to imagination: Deep generative models for artificial intelligence’ by Joan Serrà; and ‘Explainable AI’ by Anna Monreale. The remaining 7 sections contain 47 papers covering ethics and E-governance; machine learning; constraints and SAT, optimization and fuzzy; data science, recommender systems and decision support systems; agent-based and multi-agent systems; computer vision; and sentiment analysis and text analysis. The book provides an overview of the latest developments in the field, and as such will be of interest to all those whose work involves the study and application of artificial intelligence.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fourth edition of this bestselling textbook explains the principles of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications. Using clear and concise language, it provides a solid grounding across the full spectrum of AI techniques, so that its readers can implement systems in their own domain of interest. The coverage includes knowledge-based intelligence, computational intelligence (including machine learning), and practical systems that use a combination of techniques. All the key techniques of AI are explained—including rule-based systems, Bayesian updating, certainty theory, fuzzy logic (types 1 and 2), agents, objects, frames, symbolic learning, case-based reasoning, genetic algorithms and other optimization techniques, shallow and deep neural networks, hybrids, and the Lisp, Prolog, and Python programming languages. The book also describes a wide range of practical applications in interpretation and diagnosis, design and selection, planning, and control. Fully updated and revised, Intelligent Systems for Engineers and Scientists: A Practical Guide to Artificial Intelligence, Fourth Edition features: A new chapter on deep neural networks, reflecting the growth of machine learning as a key technique for AI A new section on the use of Python, which has become the de facto standard programming language for many aspects of AI The rule-based and uncertainty-based examples in the book are compatible with the Flex toolkit by Logic Programming Associates (LPA) and its Flint extension for handling uncertainty and fuzzy logic. Readers of the book can download this commercial software for use free of charge. This resource and many others are available at the author’s website: adrianhopgood.com. Whether you are building your own intelligent systems, or you simply want to know more about them, this practical AI textbook provides you with detailed and up-to-date guidance.
