Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IMS Application Developer's Handbook gives a hands-on view of exactly what needs to be done by IMS application developers to develop an application and take it "live" on an operator's network. It offers practical guidance on building innovative applications using the features and capabilities of the IMS network, and shows how the rapidly changing development environment is impacting on the business models employed in the industry and how existing network solutions can be moved towards IMS. Elaborating on how IMS applies basic VoIP principles and techniques to realize a true multi-access, and multimedia network, this book ensures that developers know how to use IMS most effectively for applications. Written by established experts in the IMS core network and IMS service layer, with roots in ISDN and GSM, with experience from working at Ericsson, who have been active in standardisation and technology development and who have been involved in many customer projects for the implementation of fixed mobile converged IMS network and service. The authors of this book bring their in-depth and extensive knowledge in the organizations involved in the IMS standardization and its architecture. - Clear, concise and comprehensive view of the IMS and Rich Communication Suite (RCS) for developers - Written by established experts in the IMS services layer, who have been involved in many customer projects for the implementation of fixed mobile converged IMS network and service - Covers potential service and operator scenarios for the IMS architecture; it is significantly more than merely a description of the IMS standards

This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A key experiment in biomedical research is monitoring the expression of different proteins in order to detect changes that occur in biological systems under different experimental conditions. The method that is most widely used is the Western blot analysis. While Western blot is a workhorse in laboratories studying protein expression and has several advantages, it also has a number of significant limitations. In particular, the method is semi-quantitative with limited dynamic range. Western blot focuses on a single protein per sample with only a small number of representative samples analyzed in an experiment. New quantitative tools have been needed for some time to at least supplement, & possibly replace, the Western blot. Mass spectrometric methods have begun to compete with Western blot for routine quantitative analyses of proteins. One of these methods is based on the tandem mass spectrometry technique of selected reaction monitoring (SRM), which is also called multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). Selected reaction monitoring is actually an older tandem mass spectrometry technique, first described in the late 70s, that is widely utilized in the quantitative analysis of small molecules like drugs & metabolites. The use of selected reaction monitoring for the quantitative analysis of proteins has a number of advantages. Most importantly, it is fundamentally quantitative with a wide dynamic range. The output of the analysis is a numerical result that can range over several orders of magnitude. Other advantages include sufficient specificity & sensitivity to detect low abundance proteins in complex mixtures. Finally, selected reaction monitoring can be multiplexed to allow the quantitative analysis of relatively large numbers of proteins in a single sample in a single experiment. This Brief will explain both the theoretical & experimental details of the selected reaction monitoring experiment as it is applied to proteins.

Book excerpt: The symposium "Reaction Kinetics and the Development of Catalytic Processes" is the continuation of the very successful International Symposium "Dynamics of Surfaces and Reaction Kinetics in Heterogeneous Catalysis", held in September 1997 in Antwerp, Belgium. These proceedings contain a unique series of top level plenary lectures mainly focused on• the dynamics of catalytic surfaces• the interaction of the reacting molecules with the solid catalyst• the elementary steps of reaction pathways and molecular kinetics.Surface science techniques, molecular modeling, transient kinetic studies, sophisticated and specific reactors are included to a growing extent in the kinetic modeling and the development of catalytic processes. How this is practiced today and how it will evolve in the coming years, and what benefit can be expected for a more fundamentally based approach is the aim of the symposium.

Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Communications - Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media, grade: 7,3 out of 10 (B), University of Amsterdam (Graduate School of Communicatin), course: Communication Science (Persuasive Communication), language: English, abstract: Online platforms empower consumers to share their negative experiences with a broad public of fellow consumers on the Internet. Complaints expressed as negative electronic word of mouth (nWOM) have a great potential to damage companies accused in these publicly made complaints. This study investigates upon the most effective means for companies to counter nWOM by means of webcare. The results show that a loss of satisfaction and trust as well as negative eWOM behaviour after a service failure can be positively influenced depending on the content of a webcare response (accommodative vs. notice). These effects appear to be mediated by consumers’ expectations. Furthermore, although webcare communication strategy (proactive vs. reactive) does not influence satisfaction, trust and negative eWOM behaviour of senders of nWOM, the results show an influence of webcare communication strategy on positive eWOM behaviour. The findings of this study are discussed in the light of the potential of webcare to serve as a tool for online complaint management.
