Book Synopsis Nursing and Health Care Ethics by : Winifred Pinch
Download or read book Nursing and Health Care Ethics written by Winifred Pinch and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although thousands of articles and books appear annually in the field of nursing ethics, the sheer volume of scholarly publications points to the need to provide assessment and focus, and that is what this book offers. Nursing and Healthcare Ethics documents the work of nurse scholars in ethics, and goes well beyond a mere documentation of what has transpired and a list of what can be done in the future. It creatively looks back to assess previous accomplishments and forward to find new directions and strengthen future scholarly contributions in nursing ethics. Critical thinking activities, organized by the book s themes (such as vulnerability, care and caring, diversity and disparity, and pain and suffering) are examples of applying these scholarly insights into practice. This book is intended not only for undergraduate and graduate students in academic settings, but also for those in professional development programs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An invitation for all nurses to re-engage with the passion and commitment that originally inspired them! ...represents an act of passion for the profession, a window to a personal journey, and an invitation to view the nursing profession's contribution to healing in a Jungian context....The work's value comes from its integration of scientific, creative, and spiritual philosophies as a core context for the complex nurse-patient interaction involved in the promotion of a healing environment....Recommended."--Choice Nursing is at a crossroads, facing shortages of unparalleled proportion at a time when society is experiencing health care challenges of great magnitude. At the center of professional nursing lies the authentic presence of the nurse, the intention and commitment that brings nurses to the profession in the first place. When there is congruence between who nurses are and what they do, nurses bring their souls to work. This balance is experienced as a healing presence that encourages the patient's self-healing capacity. Throughout this book, JoEllen Koerner explores ways--scientific, creative, and spiritual--of understanding the power and impact of this "healing presence" on both the caregiver and those receiving care. Wisdom from the field is presented in a series of reflections from multiple areas of practice. For all nurses and nursing students, the book offers practical application strategies for integrating the nursing process with the nurse's presence and a framework for personal and professional development.

Book Synopsis The Regulation of Private Schools in America by :
Download or read book The Regulation of Private Schools in America written by and published by Department of Education. This book was released on 1995 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, a parent's right to choose a private education for his or her children is reflected in the statutes of all 50 states. State regulation of private schools, however, is not without limitations. The challenge to state legislators in regulating private schools is to draft legislation that: (1) respects the fundamental right of parents to direct the education of their children; (2) protects the states' interest in an informed citizenry but avoids interference with religious beliefs unless compelling interests are at issue; and (3) avoids comprehensive regulation of private education that would deprive parents of any choice in education. This handbook presents findings of a study, initiated by the Office of Nonpublic Education, U.S. Department of Education, that conducted a state-by-state analysis of state laws regulating private education. The study, which includes all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia, identified the following general areas of regulation advanced by state legislators: recordkeeping and reports, licensing/registration/accreditation, health and safety, curriculum, and public funding. The data show that none of the states regulates private schools in the same way. The report contains comparison charts depicting state oversight of private schools, state-mandated educational requirements, and public assistance to private schools and private school children.
