Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an autobiographical account of my childhood journeys with my parents, 4 older sisters and 2 older brothers. My parents immigrated to America in the first quarter of the 1900s with their families; they met and were married in Arizona and 3 sisters and 1 brother were born there, and I and 1 brother and 1 sister were born in California. A large part of the book deals with the struggles of looking for work in various regions in these two states, and the resulting uprooting of family to go and temporarily live where work was found. There were many sacrifices made to keep family together. The other part of the book reveals the personal struggles I had because of moving to Maneadero, BC, Mexico in 1958 with my mother and attending the local Village School. Struggles? Yes, but soon overcome by the loving friendships developed with the Villagers, Shopkeepers, Teachers and Students. Fun was had, but there were a few God-sent events that became life-changing experiences for me.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: January 1950 - A small boy, his brother, and his father abandon their car in a blizzard near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Evening approaches and he fears being left behind. As they push on towards a distant highway, they hear a vehicle behind them. It stops and the driver offers a lift. They climb in and he returns them to the motel where his mother anxiously awaits them. The experience leaves a deep impression on the boy that stays with him into old age. January 1960 - Now a junior in high school, the young man struggles to fit in. He's attracted to several girls but is too shy to ask them out. Instead, he concentrates on his after-school jobs. His church and membership in Explorer Scouts remind him of obligations when he really wants to enjoy greater independence. He reaches a critical turning point when his French language teacher persuades him to apply for a summer student exchange program. Still struggling to define his identity, he applies and hopes to be accepted. After failing a major French exam he doubts his chances. His teacher offers him a make-up exam, but first he must write an essay about the exchange program and why he would like to live with a host family in another country. He meets this challenge and is accepted but not in France. An exchange of letters with the son of a host family in Germany heightens his desire to escape his hum-drum suburban life and set out on a great adventure. Using his own money, he buys a ticket on a transcontinental bus and heads for Montreal to board a ship for Europe. Along the way he meets several interesting passengers. He embarks with hundreds of other young Americans from across the country on a ten-day Atlantic crossing. The young man soon realizes that he is on a much grander voyage to see a more interesting world than he had ever imagined in his home town. Reaching port in Holland, he and the others board trains for destinations across Europe. He anticipates that the summer will be a turning point in his life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The life story of a physician who defines himself through his recollection of the people he's known. While recognizing the importance of self-fulfillment and hard work to achieve personal goals, he relates a moving tale of encouragement, teaching, and enlightenment provided by those who helped to guide him to where he is today. Through a series of essays and personality profiles he reminds us of the importance of role models and family values in living a rewarding and satisfying life, and his own coming to faith along the way. Now retired from a long career at a major medical center, the author has turned to writing as a second career, consistent with his plan to avoid "leaving without a trace", and becoming a better person and role model as his time shortens. The author hopes this slender volume will serve to inspire those in the afternoon years of their lives, those who recognize the debt they owe to others, and those who wrestle with the desire to leave a gift of recognition and appreciation. The author's spirituality lies at the heart of this effort. The road to faith is a life-long journey, full of doubt at times, but rewarding, satisfying, fulfilling and leaving room for hope.

Book excerpt: This book follows the journey of Donald Leslie Cameron, a Scotsman who left home at seventeen to work in the remote regions of Arctic Canada for the Hudson’s Bay Co. Skipping from island to island in the remotest outposts of the Canadian Arctic, Cameron’s career brings him into contact with the fur traders and fishermen of the Inuit First Nations, with the adventurous men and women who populate the northernmost towns, and eventually, with the love of his life. Along the way, Cameron learns the trade of retailing and fur-buying as a manager for the Hudson’s Bay Co, rising through the ranks of the corporation and traveling half of Canada’s northern expanse. The work was prompted by Cameron’s large family of six children, thirty-eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren to capture the sense of accomplishment, to tell the tale of his adventure, and to preserve his part of the history and geography of Northern Canada.

Book excerpt: "It is our sincere hope that this book will mark a turning point in the spiritual evolution of this planet and its restoration to the galactic lineage of nations to which you belong. Make no mistake, this book has the power to change lives -- and Earth history, if you will let it!" -- The Sirian Council of 12 through Beverley Bright Star Familial Integrity is a series of diverse, exciting stories designed to unlock hidden pathways within the reader to reawaken ancient knowledge buried deep within the group consciousness of humanity. These stories explore in depth the concept of familial integrity, the moral foundation for the inhabitants of many other advanced planets and higher dimensions. This idea does not limit itself to the conventionally conceived family unit, but instead promotes harmony within the entire Earth family. When you learn to see all of humanity as your brothers and sisters, you can no longer let anyone starve or deny them adequate food or housing. You cannot cheat, lie, and steal from anyone -- let alone kill them -- when you fully acknowledge them as your own flesh and blood, the family members they truly are. This book outlines the necessary changes that humankind must make for the coming new age in practical ways that can be applied in our daily lives. When the principles of familial integrity are widely accepted, they will serve as a catalyst for global change among individuals and nations, bringing stability, peace, and love to the entire planet.

This report marks the first-ever time that such an undertaking was performed for the nation's first lady. The report -- designed as a service to assist Mrs Bush in meeting the demands of her new role -- contains advice for the first lady and her senior staff as well as information on the history, challenges, and duties associated with the Office of the First Lady. The contributors include the former first ladies, public officials, and leading historians of the first ladyship. The Office of the First Lady is arguably the most intriguing and demanding 'unpaid job' in the country. The president's wife is in the unique position to wield significant power and influence as she presides over White House social affairs and important social projects, while serving as the president's most trusted confidante and one of the country's most celebrated women.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book creates beauty out of your everyday moments. This disquieting yet emotionally satisfying novel is written for young adults but a pleasure for any reader. The surprise is not in how two soulful spirits are connected but in the way they weave together to the book's finely spun ending. The book is about a young girl who has lost her mother at an early age during 1900s. She's the only girl in a family of seven children. Her mother dies very tragically on a lake when she was only four years old. This is about how a family handles a death of a loved one and still goes on to become a complete family. The sacrifices that families make in order for their children to be successful. Almost like today's world? Annie's mom was a brilliant concert piano player and renowned in many music halls of New York City and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Annie gets all the right scholarships and awards to be able to go to St. Claire's Academy for girls in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Of course, loneliness and fears set in for the fourteen-year-old teenager. In time, she connects with friends and meets a wonderful girl named Rebecca that becomes her lifelong friend. Coincidently enough, Rebecca also has the same family scenario as Annie. No mother, a large family, and a talented mother who also has died. Both moms were piano concert players, beautiful women, and highly respected in their towns. As wealthy as Rebecca's dad was, Richard, Annie's father, was not. Time passes and Annie and Rebecca hear music being played during the night from the forbidden room at the attic as they sleep, but they are awakened. This room has been forbidden from day one, and all were told to never ever go near this room. During many nights, the music plays, and Rebecca and Annie's curiosity leads them to the forbidden room. It was a visit the girls would never forget.
