Book excerpt: From two-time Romance Book of the Year Nominee and bestselling author K.M. Golland, comes a fun, opposites-attract romance with a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets The Hating Game vibe. Like every little girl, I dreamed of becoming a princess. I wanted the prince, the castle, the fairy-tale wedding, and maybe seven dwarfs to call my own. I went to school, studied hard, and graduated to become a teacher while waiting patiently for my Prince Charming to come along and sweep me off my feet. But he never came; Will Butler did instead. Live Trepidation drummer. Rude, crude, obnoxious plumber. Will certainly didn’t fit my perfect Prince Charming mould, but boy did he break it and charm his way into my heart. I’m just unsure if I can let him stay there. And will he even want to when he finds out what I’m hiding?

Now FBI Special Agent Sonora “Sonny” Vasquez has been sent undercover to the elite beach community of La Jolla to make friends with Fortune. With her fierce beauty and take-no-prisoners attitude, she’s more than equipped for the job, and soon she and Ben have collided in an affair that is both intense and irresistible. But for the first—and worst—time in Sonny’s career, her emotions are threatening to get the better of her. Could this sensual, wounded man, who is genuinely anguished over his troubled daughter, really be a killer? And could falling in love blind Sonny to the greatest danger of all?

Book excerpt: This book is a combination of an editorial written by myself for the literary magazine, JAW, co-produced by myself and a friend for 2 years, the beginning of a screenplay, some poetry, and several short stories. I started the book 9 years ago as the thesis for my undergraduate BA degree which I received from Goddard College, VT. Originally it also included a survey of one novelist, Elizabeth Berg, and three famous women poets, in order to place myself in the field of writing and compare/contrast the growth pattern my writing took through the years. I elected to take those out, to avoid any copyright issues, and prove this book is about a 'dream fullfillment' and what I hope to be the beginning of my book publishing career. As a single Mom of three boys now for 8 years I have struggled to succeed and have grown in ways which I never thought possible. I finished my BA in English and Women's History, and moved on to pursue my MA in Teaching, which I graduated with on September 11th, 2007. Although, I 'appear' to be poor, I am filled with 'riches'--spiritual ones! I hope this book serves as an inspiration for all single Mom's--to never give up on your dreams, they are there, waiting for you to find them and if we are to keep 'hope' alive for us and our children, we must not give up.

Book excerpt: Back to the Future meets The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in this original, poignant, race-against-time story about a boy who travels back to 1984 to save his father’s life. My dad died twice. Once when he was thirty-nine and again four years later, when he was twelve. On his twelfth birthday, Al Chaudhury receives a letter from his dead father. It directs him to the bunker of their old house, where Al finds a time machine (an ancient computer and a tin bucket). The letter also outlines a mission: travel back to 1984 and prevent the go-kart accident that will eventually take his father’s life. But as Al soon discovers, whizzing back thirty years requires not only imagination and courage, but also lying to your mom, stealing a moped, and setting your school on fire—oh, and keeping your pet hamster safe. With a literary edge and tons of commerical appeal, this incredible debut has it all: heart, humor, vividly imagined characters, and a pitch-perfect voice.

There are no more cheerleaders in the town of Sunnybrook. First there was the car accident--two girls dead after hitting a tree on a rainy night. Not long after, the murders happened. Those two girls were killed by the man next door. The police shot him, so no one will ever know his reasons. Monica's sister was the last cheerleader to die. After her suicide, Sunnybrook High disbanded the cheer squad. No one wanted to be reminded of the girls they'd lost. That was five years ago. Now the faculty and students at Sunnybrook High want to remember the lost cheerleaders. But for Monica, it's not that easy. She just wants to forget. Only, Monica's world is starting to unravel. There are the letters in her stepdad's desk, an unearthed, years-old cell phone, a strange new friend at school. . . . Whatever happened five years ago isn't over. Some people in town know more than they're saying. And somehow, Monica is at the center of it all. There are no more cheerleaders in Sunnybrook, but that doesn't mean anyone else is safe.
