Book Synopsis Nondestructive Testing Methods and New Applications by : Mohammad Omar
Download or read book Nondestructive Testing Methods and New Applications written by Mohammad Omar and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-03-02 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nondestructive testing enables scientists and engineers to evaluate the integrity of their structures and the properties of their materials or components non-intrusively, and in some instances in real-time fashion. Applying the Nondestructive techniques and modalities offers valuable savings and guarantees the quality of engineered systems and products. This technology can be employed through different modalities that include contact methods such as ultrasonic, eddy current, magnetic particles, and liquid penetrant, in addition to contact-less methods such as in thermography, radiography, and shearography. This book seeks to introduce some of the Nondestructive testing methods from its theoretical fundamentals to its specific applications. Additionally, the text contains several novel implementations of such techniques in different fields, including the assessment of civil structures (concrete) to its application in medicine.

Book Synopsis Improving the Effectiveness and Reliability of Non-Destructive Testing by : W.E. Gardner
Download or read book Improving the Effectiveness and Reliability of Non-Destructive Testing written by W.E. Gardner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the two most important aspects of the use of non-destructive testing. Firstly, the effectiveness of procedures to detect and size the defects present irrespective of the geometry, materials involved or environment. Secondly, the reliability of instrumentation and personnel to perform the specified procedures. Validation and certification techniques required for the justification of safe operation of a plant are also discussed. Experts in industries where safety and defect detection are of paramount importance have made valuable contributions drawn from their experience to make this book essential reading for anyone responsible for safety of plant operation. Illustrated throughout, the book is also of interest to mechanical and structural engineers, researchers and inspectors as well as being a useful reference tool for graduate students.

This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 2266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume (Parts A and B) contains the edited papers presented at the annual Review of Progress in Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation held at the University of California - San Diego, La Jolla, CA, on August 1-5, 1988. The Review was organized by the Center for NDE at Iowa State University and the Ames Laboratory of the U. S. Department of Energy in cooperation with the Air Force Materials Laboratory, the Office of Basic Energy Sciences, USDOE, the Office of Naval Research, the NASA-Langley Research Center, and The Metallurgical Society (TMS). Yith a total of over 450 participants from the US and nine foreign countries who presented a record 325 papers, this conference has grown into the largest, most significant gathering of NDE researchers and engineers anywhere in the Yest. The meeting was divided into 36 sessions with as many as four sessions running concurrently. All stages of NDE development from basic research investigations to early engineering applications and all methods of inspection science from ultrasonics to x-ray tomography were covered. Following a pattern now familiar to regular attendees of the Review and readers of the Proceedings, the editors have organized the papers in the Proceedings according to topical subject headings rather than the original order of presentation. This rearrangement yields a more user friendly reference work. Part A of the Proceedings treats NDE technique development whereas Part B is organized around the theme of materials.

Book Synopsis Concise Reliability for Engineers by : Jaroslav Menčík
Download or read book Concise Reliability for Engineers written by Jaroslav Menčík and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2016-04-13 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our life is strongly influenced by the reliability of the things we use, as well as of processes and services. Failures cause losses in the industry and society. Methods for reliability assessment and optimization are thus very important. This book explains the fundamental concepts and tools. It is divided into two parts. Chapters 1 to 10 explain the basic terms and methods for the determination of reliability characteristics, which create the base for any reliability evaluation. In the second part (Chapters 11 to 23) advanced methods are explained, such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and Fault Tree Analysis, Load-Resistance interference method, the Monte Carlo simulation technique, cost-based reliability optimization, reliability testing, and methods based on Bayesian approach or fuzzy logic for processing of vague information. The book is written in a readable way and practical examples help to understand the topics. It is complemented with references and a list of standards, software and sources of information on reliability.
