Book excerpt: Nominated for ten UK book awards, Theresa Breslin's hit novel tells of how two young boys - one Rangers fan, one Celtic fan - are drawn into a secret pact to help a young asylum seeker in a city divided by prejudice. Now adapted for the stage by Martin Travers, the play has already been produced to great acclaim at Glasgow's Citizens Theatre. Graham and Joe just want to play football and be selected for the new city team, but a violent attack on Kyoul, an asylum seeker, changes everything when they find themselves drawn into a secret pact to help the victim and his girlfriend Leanne. Set in Glasgow at the time of the Orange Order walks, Divided City is a gripping tale about two boys and how they must find their own way forward in a world divided by difference. Book Synopsis Pedagogical Leadership in Early Childhood Education by : Mona Sakr
Download or read book Pedagogical Leadership in Early Childhood Education written by Mona Sakr and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pedagogical leadership views leadership as something separate from formal authority or qualifications, seeing educators' understanding, interpretation and passion as the key lever for continuous improvement in early childhood education (ECE). This book shows how effective pedagogical leadership can create the right conditions for quality ECE provision, to increase motivation and engagement among staff, and impact positively on staff recruitment and retention. Written by a team of international experts based in Australia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Greece, Finland, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the USA, this book explores pedagogical leadership in ECE in-depth and through an international lens. The chapters address questions including: what is pedagogic leadership?; what does it look like?; what impact can pedagogic leadership have on the everyday work of nurseries and other ECE providers? The contributors cover a range of topics including trauma-responsive pedagogy, child-initiated pedagogies, conflict management, change management theory and social leadership theory.

Book Synopsis The Place Names of Stirlingshire (Classic Reprint) by : James Brown Johnston
Download or read book The Place Names of Stirlingshire (Classic Reprint) written by James Brown Johnston and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Place Names of Stirlingshire The first edition of this little book was very limited, and was all sold out within six weeks. The writer is grateful for the very kindly and appreciative way in which it was received both by the press as a whole, and by private readers. But the first edition had many imperfections, and the writer is glad to have the Opportunity of presenting his work in this much enlarged and improved form. The Introduction has been carefully revised, but the chief alterations and additions will be found in the appended List of Names. In its revision the writer has drawn largely from the Valuation Roll, and has enjoyed the skilled assistance of Mr. John Cameron, of Ullapool, a Gaelic scholar of repute, who has helped him to adjust not a few grammatical nice ties, which vexed the righteous soul of the scholarly Gael; but for all Opinions expressed in this book the writer alone is responsible. It should also be understood that sometimes, of set purpose, he has not spelt Gaelic names as they would be spelt to-day, because it seemed evident that, in some cases, things have changed in the 500 or 600 years which have passed since Gaelic ceased to be spoken in the most of Stirlingshire.
