SA CAPACITE A TRADUIRE LA CONNAISSANCE D'UN OPERATEUR HUMAIN EN REGLES D'EXPERTISE ENONCEES DANS UN LANGAGE SIMPLE EN FAIT UNE TECHNIQUE TRES PROMETTEUSE. NEANMOINS, LORSQUE LE NOMBRE DE VARIABLES ENTRANT EN JEU DEVIENT TROP IMPORTANT, LA BASE DE REGLES EXPLOSE TRES VITE, ET DES PROBLEMES LIES A SA REALISATION PRATIQUE EN DECOULENT. CETTE THESE S'INSCRIT DANS LA MOUVANCE DES TRAVAUX ACTUELS SUR LA COMMANDE FLOUE ET S'ATTACHE AU PROBLEME DE L'EXPLOSION COMBINATOIRE DU NOMBRE DE REGLES. DANS UNE PREMIERE PARTIE, LES PRINCIPES DE BASE DE LA LOGIQUE FLOUE ET DE LA COMMANDE FLOUE SONT RAPPELES. DANS UNE DEUXIEME PARTIE, DES SOLUTIONS VISANT A SIMPLIFIER LA SYNTHESE D'UN CONTROLEUR FLOU SONT PRESENTEES. DEUX CAS SONT CONSIDERES : LA BASE DE REGLES EXISTE DEJA, LA BASE DE REGLES N'EST PAS DISPONIBLE ET LA SYNTHESE D'UN CONTROLEUR FLOU DE COMPLEXITE REDUITE EST A REALISER. DANS LA PRATIQUE, ON NE DISPOSE GENERALEMENT PAS DE CETTE BASE DE REGLES, AUSSI, ON INSISTE DAVANTAGE SUR LE DEUXIEME CAS DE FIGURE. UNE FOIS LA STRUCTURE DU CONTROLEUR FLOU DEFINI, LE NOMBRE DE PARAMETRES A REGLER POUVANT ATTEINDRE UN NOMBRE IMPORTANT, IL EST INTERESSANT D'UTILISER DES TECHNIQUES D'APPRENTISSAGE AFIN D'AUTOMATISER LA MISE AU POINT DU CONTROLEUR FLOU. LES PARAMETRES DE CE DERNIER (GAINS ET FONCTIONS D'APPARTENANCE, EN ENTREE ET EN SORTIE) SONT ICI REGLES A TRAVERS LA METHODE, TRES SIMPLE, DE DESCENTE DU GRADIENT. DANS UNE TROISIEME PARTIE, LA DEMARCHE PROPOSEE DANS CE MEMOIRE EST APPLIQUEE AVEC SUCCES A LA COMMANDE DE DEUX PROCESSUS MULTIVARIABLES : UN BAC MELANGEUR ET UN PROCEDE BIOLOGIQUE DE TRAITEMENT DES EAUX-USEES.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'ETUDE PRESENTEE DANS CETTE THESE EST UNE TENTATIVE DE FORMULATION DU CHOIX DES PARAMETRES DE CONTROLEURS FLOUS. POUR ACCOMPLIR UNE TELLE FORMULATION, NOUS AVONS MENE NOS TRAVAUX DE RECHERCHE SUR TROIS NIVEAUX DE COMPLEXITE DIFFERENTS, TRAITES SOUS LE CADRE THEORIQUE DES SYSTEMES FLOUS APPROXIMATEURS UNIVERSELS DE FONCTIONS NUMERIQUES. NOS OPINIONS SUR CES QUESTIONS CONSTITUENT LA FONDATION DE NOTRE PROJET DE RECHERCHE. NOTRE VISION DE DIMENSION UNIVERSELLE EST RAREMENT INTEGREE DANS LES TRAVAUX DE RECHERCHE SUR LA COMMANDE FLOUE. C'EST POURQUOI NOUS AVONS ELABORE CINQ ETAPES DIFFERENTES DANS LEURS CONCEPTIONS, MAIS CONSTITUANT UNE METHODOLOGIE GENERIQUE APPLICABLE A N'IMPORTE QUEL SYSTEME DE SECOND ORDRE. LA PREMIERE ETAPE, PROPOSE UN CODAGE DES LOIS DE COMMANDE SOUS FORME DE REGLES FLOUES SUIVIE D'UNE PHASE D'OPTIMISATION DES PARTITIONS DE SOUS-ENSEMBLES FLOUS A L'AIDE DES ALGORITHMES GENETIQUES. DANS LA SECONDE ETAPE, EN REDUISANT L'ESPACE DU CHOIX, NOUS AVONS EFFECTUE UN APPRENTISSAGE A L'AIDE D'UN RESEAU DE NEURONES SUR LES PARAMETRES PRECONISES PAR LE PROCESSUS DE REDUCTION. BIEN QUE LA GREFFE DES TECHNIQUES D'INTELLIGENCE ARTIFICIELLE SOIT AU DETRIMENT D'UNE CERTAINE LISIBILITE, CES OUTILS NOUS ONT SERVI A LA CONSTRUCTION D'UNE MULTITUDE DE CONTROLEURS FLOUS POUR LA SIMULATION, D'AUTRE PART, A LA MISE EN EVIDENCE DE L'INTERDEPENDANCE DE PARAMETRES, NOTAMMENT ENTRE LES PARTITIONS DES SOUS-ENSEMBLES FLOUS ET LES IMPLICATIONS, EN UTILISANT UNE DEFUZZIFICATION PAR CENTRE DE GRAVITE. LA TROISIEME ETAPE ETABLIT UN LIEN ENTRE CES DEUX PARAMETRES. DU POINT DE VUE DU CONTROLE, CE LIEN FOURNIT DES JUSTIFICATIONS THEORIQUES SUR LE CHOIX DES IMPLICATIONS, UNE CARACTERISATION DES BASES DE REGLES SPECIFIQUES A L'OPTIMISATION DES CRITERES DE RAPIDITE ET DE PRECISION, DES RESULTATS PRECISES SUR LE COMPORTEMENT DES T-IMPLICATIONS ET DES S-IMPLICATIONS EN REGIME TRANSITOIRE ET EN REGIME PERMANENT ET UNE METHODE PROCEDURALE POUR LE CALCUL DU CENTRE DE GRAVITE. LA QUATRIEME ETAPE SE FOCALISE SUR UN PASSAGE DE LA FORME TOPOLOGIQUE D'UNE BASE DE REGLES FLOUE EN SA FORME NUMERIQUE. DU POINT DE VUE INFORMATIQUE, CE PASSAGE MET EN RELATION DES INFORMATIONS SYMBOLIQUES ET DES INFORMATIONS NUMERIQUES AFIN D'EVALUER NUMERIQUEMENT UNE BASE DE CONNAISSANCES FLOUE, NOTAMMENT LA PARTITION DES SOUS-ENSEMBLES FLOUS. LA SPECIFICITE DE NOTRE DEMARCHE EST L'ELABORATION D'UNE STRUCTURE D'ESPACE VECTORIEL DE RELATIONS ENTRES CES SOUS-ENSEMBLES FLOUS. COMPTE TENU DE CE RESULTAT, NOUS PROPOSONS EN DERNIERE ETAPE UNE METHODE PERMETTANT DE DECOUVRIR LES PRINCIPAUX REGROUPEMENTS DE CONTROLEURS FLOUS AYANT LE MEME COMPORTEMENT VIS-A-VIS DE CERTAINS CRITERES DE PERFORMANCES. CETTE METHODE UTILISANT ALGORITHME DE REGROUPEMENT NEURO-FLOU OFFRE UNE MEILLEURE LISIBILITE POUR JUGER DE LA PERTINENCE ET L'INTERET RELATIF DE CHAQUE PARAMETRE VIS-A-VIS DES CRITERES DE PERFORMANCES. FINALEMENT, NOUS DIRONS QUE LA COMMANDE FLOUE SE CHERCHE ENCORE UNE IDENTITE ET QUE CE TRAVAIL POURRAIT SERVIR DE SUPPORT A L'ANALYSE ET A LA RECHERCHE D'UNE METHODOLOGIE DE CONCEPTION.

Book excerpt: In the late 1950s, like tens of thousands of young men of his generation, Pierre Bourdieu, having recently passed the agrégation in philosophy, found himself immersed in the Algerian war. Motivated by an impulse that, as he himself says, ‘was civic rather than political’, nothing seemed more important to him than to understand the Algerian situation and provide the elements that would enable others to come to an informed judgement about it. In extremely tough conditions and along with a small group of students, Bourdieu undertook a series of studies across an Algeria that was tightly patrolled by the army, leading him to discover the shocking reality of the resettlement camps and to analyse the mechanisms of destruction of Algerian society of which they were emblematic. To achieve the objectives he had set himself, Bourdieu had to carry out a genuine intellectual conversion, acquiring an ethnographic understanding of Algerian society, learning sociological analysis at a breakneck pace and inventing new instruments - both theoretical and empirical - that would enable him to understand the relations of domination specific to colonialism. These new tools also enabled him to analyse the nature of the crisis that the war had both produced and manifested. This unique volume brings together the first texts written by Bourdieu in the midst of the Algerian conflict, as well as later writings and interviews in which he returns to the topic of Algeria and the decisive role it played in the development of his work.

Book excerpt: Contemporary Criminological Issues tackles some of today’s most pressing social issues, from the criminalization of Indigenous peoples to interpersonal violence, border control, and armed conflicts. This book advances cutting-edge theories and methods, with the aim of moving beyond the scholarship that reproduces insecurity and exclusion. The breadth of approaches encompasses much of the current critical criminological scholarship, serving as a counterpoint to the growth of managerial and administrative criminologies and the rise of explicitly exclusionary and punitive state policies and practices with respect to ‘crime’ and ‘security.’ This edited collection featuring two books, one in English and one in French, includes important contributions to knowledge and public policy by eminent experts and emerging scholars. This book is published in English.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations: Finite Difference and Finite Volume Methods focuses on two popular deterministic methods for solving partial differential equations (PDEs), namely finite difference and finite volume methods. The solution of PDEs can be very challenging, depending on the type of equation, the number of independent variables, the boundary, and initial conditions, and other factors. These two methods have been traditionally used to solve problems involving fluid flow. For practical reasons, the finite element method, used more often for solving problems in solid mechanics, and covered extensively in various other texts, has been excluded. The book is intended for beginning graduate students and early career professionals, although advanced undergraduate students may find it equally useful. The material is meant to serve as a prerequisite for students who might go on to take additional courses in computational mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, or computational electromagnetics. The notations, language, and technical jargon used in the book can be easily understood by scientists and engineers who may not have had graduate-level applied mathematics or computer science courses. Presents one of the few available resources that comprehensively describes and demonstrates the finite volume method for unstructured mesh used frequently by practicing code developers in industry Includes step-by-step algorithms and code snippets in each chapter that enables the reader to make the transition from equations on the page to working codes Includes 51 worked out examples that comprehensively demonstrate important mathematical steps, algorithms, and coding practices required to numerically solve PDEs, as well as how to interpret the results from both physical and mathematic perspectives

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much orthodox economic theory is based on assumptions which are treated as self-evident: supply and demand are regarded as independent entities, the individual is assumed to be a rational agent who knows his interests and how to make decisions corresponding to them, and so on. But one has only to examine an economic transaction closely, as Pierre Bourdieu does here for the buying and selling of houses, to see that these abstract assumptions cannot explain what happens in reality. As Bourdieu shows, the market is constructed by the state, which can decide, for example, whether to promote private housing or collective provision. And the individuals involved in the transaction are immersed in symbolic constructions which constitute, in a strong sense, the value of houses, neighbourhoods and towns. The abstract and illusory nature of the assumptions of orthodox economic theory has been criticised by some economists, but Bourdieu argues that we must go further. Supply, demand, the market and even the buyer and seller are products of a process of social construction, and so-called ‘economic' processes can be adequately described only by calling on sociological methods. Instead of seeing the two disciplines in antagonistic terms, it is time to recognize that sociology and economics are in fact part of a single discipline, the object of which is the analysis of social facts, of which economic transactions are in the end merely one aspect. This brilliant study by the most original sociologist of post-war France will be essential reading for students and scholars of sociology, economics, anthropology and related disciplines.

While scholars have long examined the texts and images on rolls, they have rarely taken the manuscripts themselves into account. This volume readdresses this imbalance by focusing on the materiality and various usages of rolls in late medieval England and France. Researchers from England, France, Germany and Singapore demonstrate in 11 contributions how this approach can increase our understanding of the rolls and their contents, as well as the contexts in which they were produced and used.
