This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book MRI of the Body written by Daniel Vanel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As with the introduction of x -ray computed tomography, much of the initial development of magnetic resonance applications tended to focus on the central nervous system. The development of magnetic resonance imaging applications to other organ systems such as the chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities has lagged somewhat behind, awaiting technical improvements, and a broader user base. The past two years have seen a marked increase in imaging applications throughout the body, most notably the musculoskeletal system. It is in this regard, that MRI of the Body is a welcome arrival as a text which describes both basic principles of magnetic resonance ima ging and surveys the current status of magnetic resonance imaging applications throughout the body. The volume is concise, focused, clinically oriented, and abun dantly illustrated. In each organ system, the appropriate technical approach is discussed, the normal anatomic features are reviewed, and the range of pathologic appearances which may be encountered are described. The authors of the chapters provide a balanced overview of MR applications and describe both present limitations and future potential of magnetic resonance imaging applications in the organ system described.

Book Synopsis Contrast-Enhanced MRI of the Breast by : Sylvia Heywang-Köbrunner
Download or read book Contrast-Enhanced MRI of the Breast written by Sylvia Heywang-Köbrunner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-10-08 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the first edition of Contrast-Enhanced MRI of the Breast was published in 1990, further progress has been made in the field and interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as an additional tool in the diagnosis of breast disease has increased. However, further questions have arisen concerning the best choice of technique, the most appropriate way to interpret MR images, and the role which MRI might play in the work-up of breast disease. In this edition we give an overview of the latest technical possibilities and present knowledge, which today is based on a much greater range of experience gained by various excellent research groups. It is our aim to help the interested reader in choosing an appropriate technique and in finding those applications which promise the greatest benefit for the patient. The particular advantages and limitations of MRI have been pointed out and the currently known capabilities and still existing limitations of other imaging modalities, including transcutaneous biopsy, discussed. Finally, a chapter concerning the use of MRI in the diagnosis of implant failure, a new situation, has been added. Acknowledgements. Since the first edition was published, much further work and research has been necessary. This would not have been possible without the continuous support of many colleagues, coworkers, and advisors.

Book Synopsis Information Theory in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition by : Francisco Escolano Ruiz
Download or read book Information Theory in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition written by Francisco Escolano Ruiz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-14 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information theory has proved to be effective for solving many computer vision and pattern recognition (CVPR) problems (such as image matching, clustering and segmentation, saliency detection, feature selection, optimal classifier design and many others). Nowadays, researchers are widely bringing information theory elements to the CVPR arena. Among these elements there are measures (entropy, mutual information...), principles (maximum entropy, minimax entropy...) and theories (rate distortion theory, method of types...). This book explores and introduces the latter elements through an incremental complexity approach at the same time where CVPR problems are formulated and the most representative algorithms are presented. Interesting connections between information theory principles when applied to different problems are highlighted, seeking a comprehensive research roadmap. The result is a novel tool both for CVPR and machine learning researchers, and contributes to a cross-fertilization of both areas.

Book Synopsis PET/CT in Prostate Cancer by : Gary Cook
Download or read book PET/CT in Prostate Cancer written by Gary Cook and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-24 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This pocket book explains the significant and well-documented impact that PET/CT can have on the management of prostate cancer through the provision of high-quality evidence regarding function and structure. Up-to-date information is supplied on the relevance of PET/CT to diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy, including the emerging role of PET/CT with PSMA. Readers will also find clear explanation of the relation of the clinical and pathological background to imaging and the value of PET/CT compared with conventional radiological imaging. The book will be an excellent asset for referring clinicians, nuclear medicine/radiology physicians, radiographers/technologists, and nurses who routinely work in nuclear medicine and participate in multidisciplinary meetings. It is published within the Springer series Clinicians’ Guides to Radionuclide Hybrid Imaging, which presents contributions from professionals worldwide who share a common purpose in promoting nuclear medicine as an important imaging specialty for the diagnosis and management of oncological and non-oncological conditions.
Book Synopsis Imaging in Nephrology by : Antonio Granata
Download or read book Imaging in Nephrology written by Antonio Granata and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a wide-ranging guide to current and emerging applications of ultrasonography within nephrology that aims to provide readers with a sound understanding of the rationale for the use of ultrasound techniques in various disease settings, for example, complications following renal transplantation, arteriovenous fistulas, renal artery stenosis, nonstenotic renal artery pathology, renal vein pathology, aortic disease, and acute renal failure. Particular emphasis is placed on newer applications, such as those involving elastosonography, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, and color Doppler imaging. There is no doubt that ultrasound techniques can improve the standard of care in nephrology, from vascular access planning to management of uremic complications. Nevertheless, many nephrologists continue to delegate the performance of ultrasonography to radiologists or other colleagues, which is especially regrettable given the advent of affordable, portable ultrasound scanners. This book will be of value for all clinicians interested in the role of ultrasound techniques in nephrology and will be especially useful for nephrologists seeking to incorporate ultrasonography into their practice.
