Book excerpt: This carefully researched and provocative treatment of the two most influential persons in world history sets aside the cultural prejudices that often hamper open, honest comparison of Muhammad and Jesus. Phipps begins with a thorough biographical investigation of the early lives of the Meccan and the Nazarene and a thoughtful assessment of their later contributions as statesman and reformer. He then debunks many of the invidious myths about Jesus and Muhammad during the course of a careful exploration of the ways in which they interpreted Hebrew Scriptures, their prescriptions for moral conduct, and their attitudes toward rewards and punishment on earth and in the afterlife.

Book excerpt: Jesus and Muhammad lived in different times and in different contexts. An absolute comparison of the careers of these two men is not a satisfactory method in understanding the similarities and differences between their teachings. This book approaches this topic from a different perspective. The time that Muhammad preached in Mecca is compared to the time Jesus spent preaching throughout Palestine. This improves the similarities in contexts between them and makes a comparison more valid. The number of similarities outweighs the number of differences when looking at the four books of the Gospel and the chapters of the Qur'an revealed in Mecca. On issues related to prayer, the Oneness of God, charity, the Hereafter and forgiveness the teachings in these two books are practically the same. A number of core theological issues surfaced in the Book of John do clash with Qur’anic teachings about the person of Jesus. These differences and the possible reasons for them are explored in this book. The conclusion of this book is that Muslims and Christians have more shared values and even theological similarities than differences. It is recommended that Muslims and Christians should spend more time understanding these commonalities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mohammad Al Ghazoli was raised a Muslim. But the more he read the ancient literature of Islam, the more convinced he became that Allah could not be the True God. And the more he studied the life of Muhammad, the more obvious it became that Muhammad was not God's prophet. Then one day, someone placed a Bible in his hands and said, "Read." Soon Ghazoli had found the True God, and forgiveness through His Son. This book isn't just Ghazoli's testimony. It is much more than that. It contains the facts from the literature of Islam that shows why Allah can't possibly be the True God. It gives proof from Islam itself that whenever Muhammad wanted more wives, or riches, or when he had a problem, Gabriel was always standing by, ready to give another verse to exempt Muhammad from the law and morality. How convenient! Many of the stories in the book will be unfamiliar to the Western reader, but very familiar to Muslims. It is this inside view of things that makes the book so powerful as a witnessing tool for Muslims. Over and over again, Ghazoli asks, Is this the behavior of a prophet who was sent by God? What kind of god would send a prophet like that? The arguments contained in this book will give you powerful evidence you can show to Muslims you may try to witness to. Because it is written by a respected Arab writer, who was an advisor to the Arab league and even to Libyan ruler Qhadaffi, you can give the book to a Muslim and tell him, "Read." Learn about: The 220 contradictions in the Quran. Verses which reverse and replace prior verses. Did Allah make a mistake? The verses used to justify terrorism. Even the Quran admits Jesus was crucified! Then it denies it. Muhammad's 23 marriages, including one to a little girl.

Book excerpt: Islam within Judaism and Christianity is a truth, truth that is clear and bright in the midst of a dark world that has lost its way through misunderstands that are guided by Satan. This book will remove the veil off of God's concealed messages, and it will impact the twisted long life of preaching that was used for indecent political power and financial gains, causing billions of innocent lives lost throughout history. Through "Islam within Judaism and Christianity" I would like to introduce you to the messages of God from the holy Bible and The Quran so that you can discover that we are all followers of Moses, Jesus and Mohammed. We are one nation that belongs to the same one God, so we may consider changing our attention from striking one another to striking our one enemy, Satan! This is a book that assists you in better understanding one another in pursuit of making our world a better place and doing it together. Ahmed S. Yousef, PT. Ph.D.

It's the start of one of the most important conversations in today's world. Can you be a committed Christian without having to condemn or convert people of other faiths? Is it possible to affirm other religious traditions without watering down your own? In his most important book yet, widely acclaimed author and speaker Brian McLaren proposes a new faith alternative, one built on "benevolence and solidarity rather than rivalry and hostility." This way of being Christian is strong but doesn't strong-arm anyone, going beyond mere tolerance to vigorous hospitality toward, interest in, and collaboration with the other. Blending history, narrative, and brilliant insight, McLaren shows readers step-by-step how to reclaim this strong-benevolent faith, challenging us to stop creating barriers in the name of God and learn how affirming other religions can strengthen our commitment to our own. And in doing so, he invites Christians to become more Christ-like than ever before.

Book excerpt: Many religions came into existence while many are dead. Among existing religions Islam and Christianity occupy top positions. These religions are followed in countries around the world. These two religions have different ideologies but share some common faith. Christianity believes Jesus was born without male intervention this faith is also shared by Islam. Christianity believes before Christ many prophets of God appeared. They were given revelations by God, Islam too accepts this. Islam believes Jesus as the mighty messenger of God. Christianity believes in after life. They believe their life in earth should be according to God’s laws .This will decide their eternal life, people will be rewarded heaven or hell. Islam seriously stresses on after life. These are some faith common between Islam and Christianity. But in some faith Christianity and Islam differs. Basic Christian faith is “Jesus was born of God”. Basic faith of Islam is: Allah was not begotten, nor does he beget, he does not have female companions, nor does he have relatives. Islam severely condemns this. Jesus was not the son of God in literal sense. Abraham, Moses and Jesus were prophets of God. Islam says Jesus was not the son of God but he was a prophet of God. “Adam sinned by disobeying God as a result his descendants were born sinners”. This is the basic belief of Christianity. Islam believes Adam sinned by disobeying God, But his sin was not passed to his descendants; a new born child does not inherit sin. This is another faith where Christianity differs from Islam. As humans are born sinners it becomes essential to sacrifice. Christianity believes that Jesus sacrificed himself for the sins of mankind. Bible says Jesus was unwilling to be sacrificed. But he was captured by his enemies and punished. Jesus cries “My God My God why have you forsaken me”. It clearly contradicts Bible’s view of Jesus self-sacrifice. Islam too takes this stand. Even if Jesus self-sacrificed himself, it would only be atonement for his sins and not the sins of mankind, this is Islam stand. No country will punish a son for his father’s crime. When men are intelligent enough to stop such laws is it reasonable to believe God would give such a law? Is God less intelligent than Man? This logical question is raised by Islam. These are major differences between Christianity and Islam. Islam believes revelations were given to the prophets of God but were manipulated by men. Islam believes some words of God are still retained in the Bible. There are many verses in the Bible which prophesies the arrival of Prophet Muhammad. These prophecies are found in Old Testament and New Testament of the Bible. The goal of this book is to prove prophet Muhammad (saw) was prophesized in Bible and he was a prophet sent by God to all mankind. If Christians read this book with an open heart they would inevitably conclude that Prophet Muhammad (saw) was a messenger sent by God. We pray that you might be guided into the truth.

Book excerpt: For the world's one billion Muslims, Jesus is a prophet. A highly respected prophet, but one of many throughout history. For Christians, Jesus is more than a prophet. He alone is God incarnate, Lord and Savior. And therein lies the most profound difference between the two faiths. Based upon the authors' extensive dialogues and debates with skeptical, angry, and interested Muslims, liberal Christians, and mainstream journalists, More Than a Prophet answers nearly 150 questions about Islamic and Christian faith. Sympathetic to Muslim concerns yet uncompromising in its portrayal of historic Christian truth, More Than a Prophet is an indispensable handbook for Christians who want to share their faith with sensitivity and intellectual honesty. It is also a helpful introductory resource for those seeking to understand Jesus. - Back cover.

During the course of this journey, each reader is presented with numerous themes and topics that were excellently addressed by Jesus in the New Testament and that were also superbly addressed by Muhammad in the Quran, thus illustrating profound similarities, complements, and parallels. Providing ample food for thought and reflection, the book provides numerous examples where the teachings of Jesus and Muhammad clearly demonstrate continuity, balance, and congruence. An excellent analysis is made of The Sermon on the Mount, also entitled The Beatitudes, from Jesus while on the mountain compared to The Farewell Sermon, also entitled The Final Sermon, of Muhammad, also delivered while on a mountain. The critical insights and synergy is compelling and indeed thought-provoking, as well as inspirational. The book brilliantly explores the subject of religious interfaith, providing scriptural support from Jesus, as per the New Testament, and from Muhammad, as per the Quran, as an unbiased platform. The book does an excellent job of identifying numerous examples where the teachings of Jesus and Muhammad do indeed portray them as two rays of the same light!

The author wrote this book to serve as a bridge between the Islamic and Christian worlds. Some scholars claim that Islam and Christianity are on a collision course, with no chance for harmony due to immense cultural differences. This book proclaims the exact oppositethat common threads between these worlds are so strong that we can appreciate our differences. States that Jesus and Mohammed belong next to each other, as opposed to one (no matter which one) being above the other. If equal recognition could occur then mutual respect would result. This book can contribute important ideas of harmony and respect between faiths.
