Book excerpt: Christianity has become a global phenomenon, but how could a religion signed into effect by Roman Emperor Constantine gain so many followers, especially since biblical scriptures instruct against the teaching of knowing God? For centuries, theologians have marveled over the scriptures within the Bible, yet none have been permitted to point out the biblical scriptures opposing the worshipping of Jesus. But this truth and other countless discoveries are just a brief insight to what Bradley has compiled for you. Bringing these discoveries to light provokes the need for Christianity to be examined more thoroughly, beyond its traditional teachings. Bradley soars high with this mind-boggling study, after spending more than four years researching the Bible. His own yearn for spiritual freedom helped him unlock the biblical confusion, exposing a great deal of hidden secrets that should make you question the validity of todays Christian church and its followers.

Jesus’ beautiful and terrible death on the cross is central to the story of that scarlet thread, but there is more to the story. To understand the scarlet thread fully, we must look at the sanctuary: the holy ground that offers a glimpse of God’s character and His plan of redemption. Mysterious and often misunderstood, the sanctuary is at the very heart of biblical theology. Where God and I Meet will help you achieve greater understanding of the heavenly sanctuary, the Israelite sanctuary, the pre-Advent judgment, and Christ’s sacrifice and high-priestly ministry. You’ll come to grasp how the sanctuary interconnects with salvation, prophecy, and mission. But most important, you will see how the precious scarlet thread weaves a message of hope and redemption throughout every page of the Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arthur W. Pink (1890-1953) launched his yearly publication, Studies in the Scriptures in 1921. These continued until his death, altogether 33 volumes of 288 pp. each. Most of Pink's books are taken from these yearly books (written monthly in 24 page format). This title is one of the many taken from eight of those monthly magazines. Readers will find thorough consideration of all the facets of this Biblical Doctrine of Reconciliation. Pink covers: Its Arrangement; Its Need, Its Effectuation; Its Meaning; Its Scope; and Its Reception. There are Scriptures galore cited. Undoubtedly the reader will grow rich in knowledge and in the grace of Christ. The pages are full, with probably 400 words to a page, so buyers will get their moneys worth. As an example of what a master workman like Pink does, note that he cites Romans 12:1, 2: [This verse] ''supplies an interpretation of the rites of the Law and of the reasonable part of the O. T. order of things. Thus, he who would make a covenant with God is required to give up himself wholly unto God with a sincere and firm resolution unto a new life of obedience to Him. If there is any reservation the covenant is marred in the making of it: ''Their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant'' (Ps. 78:37). Goodwin's Reconciliation by the Blood of Christ is a sermon he preached on Colossians 1:20, in which He describes the seeming impossibility of reconciling totally depraved men to a holy God. Who is sufficient for such a task? He proves that only Christ Jesus had the fitness to fill this role of perfect obedience to the Law, together with an acceptable sacrifice to propitiate the wrath of God toward men.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can an orthodox Christian, committed to the historic faith of the Church and the authority of the Bible, be a universalist? Is it possible to believe that salvation is found only by grace, through faith in Christ, and yet to maintain that in the end all people will be saved? Can one believe passionately in mission if one does not think that anyone will be lost forever? Could universalism be consistent with the teachings of the Bible? In The Evangelical Universalist the author argues that the answer is ‘yes!’ to all of these questions. Weaving together philosophical, theological, and biblical considerations, he seeks to show that being a committed universalist is consistent with the central teachings of the biblical texts and of historic Christian theology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our world is broken and cries out for reconciliation. But mere conflict resolution and peacemaking are not enough. What makes real reconciliation possible? How is it that some people are able to forgive the most horrendous of evils? And what role does God play in these stories? Does reconciliation make any sense apart from the biblical story of redemption? Secular models of peacemaking are insufficient. And the church has not always fulfilled its call to be agents of reconciliation in the world. In Reconciling All Things Emmanuel Katongole and Chris Rice, codirectors of the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School, cast a comprehensive vision for reconciliation that is biblical, transformative, holistic and global. They draw on the resources of the Christian story, including their own individual experiences in Uganda and Mississippi, to bring solid, theological reflection to bear on the work of reconciling individuals, groups and societies. They recover distinctively Christian practices that will help the church be both a sign and an agent of God's reconciling love in the fragmented world of the twenty-first century. This powerful, concise book lays the philosophical foundations for the Resources for Reconciliation, a new series from InterVarsity Press and the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School which explores what it means to pursue hope in areas of brokenness in theory and practice.

Book excerpt: In several places, Scripture testifies to the idea that there is a reality in which everything is very good (Gen. 1:31); a reality in which all things are made new (Rev. 21:5); where "every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them," praises God and the Lamb that was slain (Rev. 5:13); a place where Jesus, the Light, fills all things (Eph. 4:10 ) and every knee bows and every tongue gives praise (Rom.14:11, Phil. 2:10-11, Isa. 45:23). Well, if that's the case-and Jesus said, "Scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35)-then where the hell is Hell? I mean, how do we reconcile Scripture with "popular" notions of "Hell" ...an endless Hell? That question comes as a surprise for many; for we've been told that the popular view of Hell-a place where God tortures people or allows people to be tortured forever without end-is a biblical idea. The more I've studied it, the more I've become convinced that this "doctrine" is a very unbiblical idea... perhaps it's even a satanic idea.In the following pages, I'd like to just offer some assistance in constructing this new mental paradigm-a biblical paradigm that allows for an eternal day in which everything is good. In the first section, "Exegetical Paradigms," I'll examine the three leading views of Hell in light of Scripture and offer a set of ideas that has led me to embrace the idea of redemption for all. In the next section, "Theology," I'll suggest a few ways in which the idea of redemption for all may relate to one's current theological system. In the last section, "Pastoral Care," I'll suggest some reasons as to why I think all of this matters.-Peter Hiett

Book excerpt: Sarcasm. Hurt feelings. Misunderstanding. Alienation. When hurt people connect with other hurt people, relationship breakdowns are sure to occur. Why is it so hard to patch things up? Who should make the first move? This 96-page book on reconciliation tackles how to forgive the “unforgivable,” how to move past the hurt, and how to restore relationships by restoring trust. What is Reconciliation? Forgiving someone is not the same as reconciliation. Unforgiveness is the root of unresolved conflict. Reconciliation is a restored relationship based on restored trust. Even when there are valid reasons to feel hurt and even when the other person is undeserving, the spirit of reconciliation reflects the heart of God. With God there is no relationship that cannot be restored. Bible stories (David, Joseph and his brothers, Abigail, and Jesus) show God’s heart and desire for reconciliation and forgiveness. Reconciliation gives helpful relationship advice on reconciliation and how to heal broken relationships. Steps to reconciliation include preparing our heart, forgiving others, showing love, reflecting the character of Christ, entering into His peace, and seeking mediation if needed. This helpful, easy-to-understand mini-book will help you prepare your heart to resolve differences and it shows that the road to reconciliation—although difficult—is possible with God. Look for more titles in the Hope for the Heart series. These mini-books are for people who seek freedom from codependency, anger, conflict, verbal and emotional abuse, depression, or other problems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.
