ABOUT THE ACT Who Takes the ACT and What is It Used for? The ACT is usually taken by high school juniors and seniors. The exam is used by college admissions officers as a way to fairly judge all the students who apply to their school. You should try to take the exam early in your junior or senior year so that you will have another opportunity to take it if you are not satisfied with your performance.
