It includes new results and constructs a new and very wide inclusion relation for various non-linear dynamical systems. After establishing some features of discrete-time dynamical systems it presents results concerning systems which are proposed by the authors for the first time. They introduce General Dynamical Systems, Linear Representation Systems, Affine Dynamical Systems, Pseudo Linear Systems, Almost Linear Systems and So-called Linear Systems for discrete-time and demonstrate the relationship between them and the other dynamical systems. This book is intended for graduate students and researchers who study control theory.

Book excerpt: This monograph deals with control problems of discrete-time dynamical systems which include linear and nonlinear input/output relations In its present second enlarged edition the control problems of linear and non-linear dynamical systems will be solved as algebraically as possible. Adaptive control problems are newly proposed and solved for dynamical systems which satisfy the time-invariant condition. The monograph provides new results and their extensions which can also be more applicable for nonlinear dynamical systems. A new method which produces manipulated inputs is presented in the sense of state control and output control. To present the effectiveness of the method, many numerical examples of control problems are provided as well.

This book was released on 2009-09-30 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph deals with approximation and noise cancellation of dyn- ical systems which include linear and nonlinear input/output relationships. It also deal with approximation and noise cancellation of two dimensional arrays. It will be of special interest to researchers, engineers and graduate students who have specialized in ?ltering theory and system theory and d- ital images. This monograph is composed of two parts. Part I and Part II will deal with approximation and noise cancellation of dynamical systems or digital images respectively. From noiseless or noisy data, reduction will be made. A method which reduces model information or noise was proposed in the reference vol. 376 in LNCIS [Hasegawa, 2008]. Using this method will allow model description to be treated as noise reduction or model reduction without having to bother, for example, with solving many partial di?er- tial equations. This monograph will propose a new and easy method which produces the same results as the method treated in the reference. As proof of its advantageous e?ect, this monograph provides a new law in the sense of numerical experiments. The new and easy method is executed using the algebraic calculations without solving partial di?erential equations. For our purpose, manyactualexamplesofmodelinformationandnoisereductionwill also be provided. Using the analysis of state space approach, the model reduction problem may have become a major theme of technology after 1966 for emphasizing e?ciency in the ?elds of control, economy, numerical analysis, and others.

Book excerpt: This book is a collection of contributions defining the state of current knowledge and new trends in hybrid systems – systems involving both continuous dynamics and discrete events – as described by the work of several well-known groups of researchers. Hybrid Dynamical Systems presents theoretical advances in such areas as diagnosability, observability and stabilization for various classes of system. Continuous and discrete state estimation and self-triggering control of nonlinear systems are advanced. The text employs various methods, among them, high-order sliding modes, Takagi–Sugeno representation and sampled-data switching to achieve its ends. The many applications of hybrid systems from power converters to computer science are not forgotten; studies of flexible-joint robotic arms and – as representative biological systems – the behaviour of the human heart and vasculature, demonstrate the wide-ranging practical significance of control in hybrid systems. The cross-disciplinary origins of study in hybrid systems are evident. Academic researchers and graduate students interested in hybrid and switched systems need look no further than Hybrid Dynamical Systems for a single source which will bring them up to date with work in this area from around the world.

Book excerpt: This volume is the first of the three volume publication containing the proceedings of the 1989 International Symposium on the Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems (MTNS-89), which was held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, June 19-23, 1989. The International Symposia MTNS focus attention on problems from system and control theory, circuit theory and signal processing, which, in general, require application of sophisticated mathematical tools, such as from function and operator theory, linear algebra and matrix theory, differential and algebraic geometry. The interaction between advanced mathematical methods and practical engineering problems of circuits, systems and control, which is typical for MTNS, turns out to be most effective and is, as these proceedings show, a continuing source of exciting advances. The first volume contains invited papers and a large selection of other symposium presentations on the general theory of deterministic and stochastic systems with an emphasis on realization and modelling. A wide variety of recent results on approximate realization and system identification, stochastic dynamical systems, discrete event systems,- o systems, singular systems and nonstandard models IS presented. Preface vi Also a few papers on applications in hydrology and hydraulics are included. The titles of the two other volumes are: Robust Control of Linear Sys tems and Nonlinear Control (volume 2) and Signal Processing. Scatter ing and Operator Theory. and Numerical Methods (volume 3). The Editors are most grateful to the about 300 reviewers for their help in the refereeing process. The Editors thank Ms. G. Bijleveld and Ms.

Regarding digital images as special input/output relations in the authors’ previous book in the series Lecture Notes in Control and Information Sciences, the description problem of digital images is transformed into the realization problem of digital images. This book is intended for researchers and graduate students who specialize in image processing and system theory.

Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to the theory of linear systems and control for students in business mathematics, econometrics, computer science, and engineering. The focus is on discrete time systems, which are the most relevant in business applications, as opposed to continuous time systems, requiring less mathematical preliminaries. The subjects treated are among the central topics of deterministic linear system theory: controllability, observability, realization theory, stability and stabilization by feedback, LQ-optimal control theory. Kalman filtering and LQC-control of stochastic systems are also discussed, as are modeling, time series analysis and model specification, along with model validation. This second edition has been updated and slightly expanded. In addition, supplementary material containing the exercises is now available on the Springer Link's book website.

Book excerpt: The conference "Analysis of Controlled Dynamical Systems" was held in July 1990 at the University of LYON FRANCE. About hundred participants attended this conference which lasted four days : There were 50 speakers from departments of Engineering and Mathematics in east and west Europe, USA and USSR. The general subject of the conference was system theory. The main topics were optimal control, structure and control of nonlinear systems, stabilization and observers, differential algebra and systems theory, nonlinear aspects of Hoc theory, rigid and flexible mechanical systems, nonlinear analysis of signals. We are indebted to the scientific committee John BAILLIEUL, Michel FLIESS, Bronislaw JAKUBCZYCK, Hector SUSSMANN, Jan WILLEMS. We gratefully acknowledge the time and thought they gave to this task. We would also like to thank Chris BYRNES for arranging for the publication of these proceedings through the series "Progress in Systems and Control Theory"; BIRKHAUSER.
