This self-contained book provides an up-to-date description of plasma etching and deposition in semiconductor fabrication. It presents the basic physics and chemistry of these processes, and shows how they can be accurately modeled. The author begins with an overview of plasma reactors and discusses the various models for understanding plasma processes. He then covers plasma chemistry, addressing the effects of different chemicals on the features being etched. Having presented the relevant background material, he then describes in detail the modeling of complex plasma systems, with reference to experimental results. The book closes with a useful glossary of technical terms. No prior knowledge of plasma physics is assumed in the book. It contains many homework exercises and serves as an ideal introduction to plasma processing and technology for graduate students of electrical engineering and materials science. It will also be a useful reference for practicing engineers in the semiconductor industry.
Book Synopsis Plasma Electronics by : Toshiaki Makabe
Download or read book Plasma Electronics written by Toshiaki Makabe and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-03-27 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Without plasma processing techniques, recent advances in microelectronics fabrication would not have been possible. But beyond simply enabling new capabilities, plasma-based techniques hold the potential to enhance and improve many processes and applications. They are viable over a wide range of size and time scales, and can be used for deposition, etching, and even process monitoring and diagnosis. Plasma Electronics: Applications in Microelectronic Device Fabrication explains the fundamental physics and numerical methods necessary to bring these technologies from the laboratory to the factory. Beginning with an overview of the basic characteristics and applications of low-temperature plasma, preeminent experts Makabe and Petrovic explore the physics underlying the complex behavior of non-equilibrium (or low temperature) plasma. They discuss charged particle transport in general and in detail as well as macroscopic plasma characteristics and elementary processes in gas phase and on surfaces. After laying this groundwork, the book examines state-of-the-art computational methods for modeling plasma and reviews various important applications including inductively and capacitively coupled plasma, magnetically enhanced plasma, and various processing techniques, while numerous problems and worked examples reinforce the concepts. Uniquely combining physics, numerical methods, and practical applications, Plasma Electronics: Applications in Microelectronic Device Fabrication equips you with the knowledge necessary to scale up lab bench breakthroughs into industrial innovations.

This book was released on 1996-11-04 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of its high cost and technical importance, plasma equipment is still largely designed empirically, with little help from computer simulation. Plasma process control is rudimentary. Optimization of plasma reactor operation, including adjustments to deal with increasingly stringent controls on plant emissions, is performed predominantly by trial and error. There is now a strong and growing economic incentive to improve on the traditional methods of plasma reactor and process design, optimization, and control. An obvious strategy for both chip manufacturers and plasma equipment suppliers is to employ large-scale modeling and simulation. The major roadblock to further development of this promising strategy is the lack of a database for the many physical and chemical processes that occur in the plasma. The data that are currently available are often scattered throughout the scientific literature, and assessments of their reliability are usually unavailable. "Database Needs for Modeling and Simulation of Plasma Processing" identifies strategies to add data to the existing database, to improve access to the database, and to assess the reliability of the available data. In addition to identifying the most important needs, this report assesses the experimental and theoretical/computational techniques that can be used, or must be developed, in order to begin to satisfy these needs.
Book Synopsis Burning Plasma by : National Research Council
Download or read book Burning Plasma written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2004-05-01 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Significant advances have been made in fusion science, and a point has been reached when we need to decide if the United States is ready to begin a burning plasma experiment. A burning plasmaâ€"in which at least 50 percent of the energy to drive the fusion reaction is generated internallyâ€"is an essential step to reach the goal of fusion power generation. The Burning Plasma Assessment Committee was formed to provide advice on this decision. The committee concluded that there is high confidence in the readiness to proceed with the burning plasma step. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), with the United States as a significant partner, was the best choice. Once a commitment to ITER is made, fulfilling it should become the highest priority of the U.S. fusion research program. A funding trajectory is required that both captures the benefits of joining ITER and retains a strong scientific focus on the long-range goals of the program. Addition of the ITER project will require that the content, scope, and level of U.S. fusion activity be defined by program balancing through a priority-setting process initiated by the Office of Fusion Energy Science.
Download or read book Source plasma pour la décontamination microbiologique des liquides written by Ibtissam Courti and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
