Certain aspects of rattan development and morphogenesis are discussed in the present paper. The rattan palms offer a variety of structures that can be used as explants in tissue culture work. Some preliminary observations on tissues developed under in vitro are made. A comparative account of leaf morphogenesis is given. [Authors' abstract].
