Book Synopsis Weather Radar and Hydrology by : Robert J. Moore (Hydrologist)
Download or read book Weather Radar and Hydrology written by Robert J. Moore (Hydrologist) and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Weather Radar and Hydrology combines developments in weather radar technology with advances in hydrological application. It concerns the monitoring and forecasting of rainfall over space and time, and how the pattern of rainfall is transformed by a varied landscape into surface water runoff and river flow across a city, region or country. Thus it has significant practical application across water resource functions, including flood forecasting and warnA-ing, flood design,"
Book Synopsis Applications of Weather Radar Systems by : C. G. Collier
Download or read book Applications of Weather Radar Systems written by C. G. Collier and published by . This book was released on 1996-12-24 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to the ways in which radar is used to address practical problems in meteorology, hydrology, and the environmental sciences, this book supplies sufficient theory to explain how radars function. The emphasis is on the characteristics of the data obtained from radar and how this data can aid an understanding of specific real life applications. Applications include the accurate forecasting of rainfall and other severe weather, the use of radar data as an input for forecasting models, the understanding of the problems of airborne pollution, and how to specify and install radar systems at remote sites.

Book Synopsis Remote Sensing in Hydrology and Water Management by : Gert A. Schultz
Download or read book Remote Sensing in Hydrology and Water Management written by Gert A. Schultz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides comprehensive information on possible applications of remote sensing data for hydrological monitoring and modelling as well as for water management decisions. Mathematical theory is provided only as far as it is necessary for understanding the underlying principles. The book is especially timely because of new programs and sensors that are or will be realised. ESA, NASA, NASDA as well as the Indian and the Brazilian Space Agency have recently launched satellites or developed plans for new sensor systems that will be especially pertinent to hydrology and water management. New techniques are presented whose structure differ from conventional hydrological models due to the nature of remotely sensed data.
Book Synopsis Radar Polarimetry for Weather Observations by : Alexander V. Ryzhkov

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph offers a wide array of contemporary information on weather radar polarimetry and its applications. The book tightly connects the microphysical processes responsible for the development and evolution of the clouds’ bulk physical properties to the polarimetric variables, and contains the procedures on how to simulate realistic polarimetric variables. With up-to-date polarimetric methodologies and applications, the book will appeal to practicing radar meteorologists, hydrologists, microphysicists, and modelers who are interested in the bulk properties of hydrometeors and quantification of these with the goals to improve precipitation measurements, understanding of precipitation processes, or model forecasts.
Book Synopsis Flash Flood Forecasting Over Complex Terrain by : National Research Council
Download or read book Flash Flood Forecasting Over Complex Terrain written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2005-01-28 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nation's network of more than 130 Next Generation Radars (NEXRADs) is used to detect wind and precipitation to help National Weather Service forecasters monitor and predict flash floods and other storms. This book assesses the performance of the Sulphur Mountain NEXRAD in Southern California, which has been scrutinized for its ability to detect precipitation in the atmosphere below 6000 feet. The book finds that the Sulphur Mountain NEXRAD provides crucial coverage of the lower atmosphere and is appropriately situated to assist the Los Angeles-Oxnard National Weather Service Forecast Office in successfully forecasting and warning of flash floods. The book concludes that, in general, NEXRAD technology is effective in mountainous terrain but can be improved.
Book Synopsis International Weather Radar Networking by : C.G. Collier
Download or read book International Weather Radar Networking written by C.G. Collier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992-04-30 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Weather Radar Networking covers all aspects of the subject in a collection of contributions drawn from all over the world. Of particular interest are the papers describing work in Eastern Europe and papers reviewing of the achievements of the Commission of the European Communities COST-73 project. During the last twenty years there has been a rapid growth in the number of digital radars deployed for operational use in Western Europe. There are now around 100, of which about half have a Doppler capability, providing wind as well as reflectivity information. The international exchange of the data from these systems promises a great enhancement of the benefits to weather forecasting and commercial users. This volume reports work being undertaken to realize those benefits and points the way to future developments of radar technology.
