Book Synopsis Do not punish me for the words I write by : S.C Elaine
Download or read book Do not punish me for the words I write written by S.C Elaine and published by Booktango. This book was released on 2012-08-29 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about me talking to God, or rather being mad at him, trying to figure out what is the point of him allowing me to suffer? Just things I think or are going through, even when I'm reading something and it rubs me the wrong way, I question it, I just write it out to God, and really tell him what I am thinking and feeling, he knows are thoughts already, so you might as well be upfront about it and get it all out, I feel he wants us to be upfront and honest about it, I think like this all the time, then I have the nerve to pray and say how much I Love him? And in the back of my mind, I'm thinking you were just talking bad about him now you all bowed down before him talking about how much you love him? Writing it out has helped me a lot in understanding him, or I should say him helping me to know who I am in him, all he wants is us to love/trust in him that's it nothing else, when we get to that level in him, when these kind of thoughts come up, we can just brush them away like swatting at a fly!

Book excerpt: Stolen and abducted… yet in the same stroke, saved. On one hand, I escaped certain death at the hands of people who have already hurt me. On the other, now I’m trapped with him. The rival of my abuser, who is every bit as terrifying. Dark and sinfully handsome, he wants me. He wants me to turn my back on the religion that has raised me. He wants me to spread my legs for him and him alone. He wants to punish me. He wants to teach me to like his lessons. Or else he’ll kill my little sister and turn me over to the men who controlled me before. Either way, I will have to make sacrifices. Sacrifices that have lasting consequences. I walk on the knife’s edge between falling prey again and completely losing myself. And if I’m not careful, I may end up worse than dead...

Book Synopsis Why Punish? How Much? by : Michael H. Tonry
Download or read book Why Punish? How Much? written by Michael H. Tonry and published by Oxford University Press on Demand. This book was released on 2011 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Punishment, like all complex human institutions, tends to change as ways of thinking go in and out of fashion. Normative, political, social, psychological, and legal ideas concerning punishment have changed drastically over time, and especially in recent decades. Why Punish? How Much? collects essays from classical philosophers and contemporary theorists to examine these shifts. Michael Tonry has gathered a comprehensive set of readings ranging from Kant, Hegel, and Bentham to recent writings on developments in the behavioral and medical sciences. Together they cover foundations of punishment theory such as consequentialism, retributivism, and functionalism, new approaches like restorative, communitarian, and therapeutic justice, and mixed approaches that attempt to link theory and policy. This volume includes an accessible introduction that chronicles the development of punishment systems and theorizing over the course of the last two centuries. Why Punish? How Much? provides a fresh and comprehensive approach to thinking about punishment and sentencing for a broad range of law, sociology, philosophy, and criminology courses.
