Download or read book Measurements of Hadronic Decays of Z° Bosons written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Z° bosons have been produced by collisions of longitudinally polarized electrons with unpolarized positrons at the SLAC Linear Collider and their decays have been recorded by the SLD experiment. We present preliminary measurements of the properties of the resulting Z° decays into multi-hadronic final states. We find good agreement with the predictions of perturbative QCD and fragmentation models.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a compilation of the most important experimental results achieved during the past 60 years at CERN - from the mid-1950s to the latest discovery of the Higgs particle. Covering the results from the early accelerators at CERN to those most recent at the LHC, the contents provide an excellent review of the achievements of this outstanding laboratory. Not only presented is the impressive scientific progress achieved during the past six decades, but also demonstrated is the special way in which successful international collaboration exists at CERN.

Download or read book The Physics of the Z and W Bosons written by Roberto Tenchini and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the memorable theoretical work that motivated the construction of the electron-positron accelerators at CERN and SLAC, and the monumental experimental effort that led to a verification of the main theoretical expectations at these laboratories and at Fermilab. The aim is to provide a description of the theoretical work, as well as a synthesis of the experimental effort, which makes interesting reading for both theorists and experimentalists. In particular, the experimental measurements, discussed in the second part of the book, are systematically related to the theoretical quantities discussed in the first. The topics still to be investigated, unsolved problems, and the perspectives at future giant accelerators conclude this fascinating text.

Book Synopsis Searches for New Particles Produced in Z Boson Decay by :
Download or read book Searches for New Particles Produced in Z Boson Decay written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Searches for events with new particle topologies in 455 hadronic Z decays with the Mark 2 detector at SLC are presented. 95% confidence level lower limits of 40.7 GeV/c2 for the top quark mass and 42.0 GeV/c2 for the mass of a fourth generation charge - 1/3 quark, regardless of decay mode, are obtained. For a fourth generation sequential Dirac neutrino?4 mass up to 43 GeV/c2. Decays of the Z boson to a pair of non-minimal Higgs bosons (Z → H{sub s}°H{sub p}°), where one of them is relatively light ({approx lt} 10 GeV/c2), are also considered. Limits are obtained on the ZH{sub s}°H{sub p}° coupling as a function of the Higgs boson masses. 11 refs., 2 figs., 2 tabs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time, this invaluable book shows how cardiac perfusion and pumping can be quantified and correlated. Self-contained and unified in presentation, the explanations in the compendium are detailed enough to capture the reader's curiosity and complete enough to provide the background material to explore further into the subject. Mathematically rigorous and clinically oriented, the book is a major resource for cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and clinicians. For students, it is an ideal textbook for senior-level courses in cardiovascular engineering.

Book Synopsis Measurements of Higgs Boson Properties in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s =7, 8 and 13 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider by : Ulascan Sarica
Download or read book Measurements of Higgs Boson Properties in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s =7, 8 and 13 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider written by Ulascan Sarica and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-26 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis documents the measurement of lifetime, width, mass, and couplings to two electroweak bosons of the recently-discovered Higgs boson using data from the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Both on-shell (at the mass of around 125 GeV) and off-shell (above 200 GeV) Higgs boson production is studied and an excess of off-shell production with significance above two standard deviations is observed for the first time. The latter is a qualitative new way to study the Higgs field, responsible for generation of mass of all the known elementary particles. In addition, phenomenological tools have been developed with the Monte Carlo event generator and matrix element techniques for an optional analysis of LHC data. Optimization of the CMS data with careful alignment of the silicon tracker is also presented.
