The selection also highlights the capabilities of transistors as linear-amplifiers. The stability and neutralization of transistors; measurement of power gain; transistors with complex base resistance; and point contact transistors at low frequencies are discussed. The text also looks at the maximum ratings of transistors, including maximum voltage and current, cooling by natural convection, and thermal runaway. The book is a vital reference for readers wanting to study transistors.

This book was released on 2020-01-03 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polyaniline (PANI) is one of the most common and widely studied conducting polymers due to its excellent electro-chemical and electrical properties and its various applications in areas such as solar cell technologies, drug delivery, organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), field-effect transistors (FETs), sensors, electro-chromic display, etc. PANI thin films play an important role in energy storage and conversion devices and show great potential in the supercapacitors owing to their high specific capacitance, high flexibility, and low cost. However, no in-depth information about this emerging PANI thin film technology is available. Properties, Techniques, and Applications of Polyaniline (PANI) Thin Films: Emerging Research and Opportunities is an essential publication that focuses on high-throughput synthesis of PANI thin films and their characterization techniques. The book also covers promising applications of PANI thin films and applications including solar cells. Featuring research on topics such as solar cells, post-synthesis treatments, and physiochemistry, this book is ideally designed for scientists, industry practitioners, engineers, managers, academicians, researchers, and students seeking coverage in the areas of polymeric applications.

Book excerpt: Junction Transistors explains the operation and characterization of junction transistors to a point from which detailed circuit analysis and design can be undertaken. This book highlights three features. First, this text analyzes the behavior of semiconductors, pn junctions, and all types of bipolar transistors from the standpoint of classical physics. The validity of this approach and the link with quantum physics is discussed in an appendix. Second, the high-speed operation of transistors is analyzed and explained in terms of base charge. Finally, the analysis of transistor behavior in terms of the movements of holes and electrons can only be carried out explicitly with the aid of simplifying assumptions, not all of which can be fully justified. In this selection, an attempt has been made to justify these assumptions wherever possible, to show where they break down, and to remove the assumptions altogether in one or two instances and obtain more rigorous solutions. This publication provides material of interest not only to undergraduates but also to those more familiar with the properties and use of transistors.

Book excerpt: This new book by M Levinshtein and G Simin tells the readers about the design and work of the most important and most interesting semiconductor devices — the transistors. The book is written in a friendly and easy to read manner and is meant primarily for young people, high school students, freshmen and sophomores. However, the original approach to semiconductor physics makes this book attractive to physics teachers and professors as well. The book consists of 3 parts:Part I: The section on semiconductors describes the main properties of semiconductors, explains the difference between the semiconductors, metals and dielectrics. We find here the explanation of the appearance of those wonderful properties of semiconductors which underlie their numerous applications. This part also contains a vivid and detailed description of the main types of motion of the charge carriers in semiconductors: thermal motion, motion in the electric field and diffusion.Part II covers Barriers and Junctions. In order to understand the principles of the work of the most important semiconductor devices, it is not sufficient just to get to know the properties of semiconductors. It is also quite essential to study certain specific and interesting phenomena — the so-called junctions. This part of the book contains a detailed and vivid description of those properties and in that view of the properties of the p-n junctions and diodes: photodiodes, varicaps, light emitting diodes, solar cells and rectifier diodes.Part III covers Transitors. It describes the basis of the work of the Bipolar and Field Effect Transistors. Without making use of rather complicated equations or notions of quantum mechanics the authors give a clear and simple explanation of the cause of ability of those devices to amplify and generate electric signals. They tell the readers how transistors are manufactured and describe the work of the transistor's simplest circuits. The last chapter of the book is devoted to the ideas underlying the transistors: integrated circuits. It is these integrated circuits which are the foundation of modern electronics: from telephone apparatus to supercomputers, from medical instruments to cosmic communication systems. In conclusion, the authors make an attempt to foresee and imagine, together with the reader what other devices may come to substitute the transistor in the future.

Book excerpt: Transistors play a central role in many electronic circuits, where they usually function as either a switch or an amplifier. This book reviews research in the field of transistors including a new class of transistors whose channels are made from semiconducting carbon nanomaterials; the evolution of these designs and the highlights of the work that has driven their development. Also discussed, herein, are the electronic properties and self-consistent simulations of carbon nanotubes in transistor technology; the future developments in the nanowire field-effect transistor research area; the implementation of chaotic oscillators by using transistors designed with CMOS integrated circuit technology and others.
