Book Synopsis Recent Advances in Plasticizers by : Mohammad Luqman
Download or read book Recent Advances in Plasticizers written by Mohammad Luqman and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-03-21 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plasticizers are used to increase the process-ability, flexibility, and durability of the material, and of course to reduce the cost in many cases. This edition covers introduction and applications of various types of plasticizers including those based on non-toxic and highly effective pyrrolidones, and a new source of Collagen based bio-plasticizers that can be obtained from discarded materials from a natural source; Jumbo Squid (Dosidicus gigas). It covers the application of plasticizers in plastic, ion-selective electrode/electrochemical sensor, transdermal drug delivery system, pharmaceutical and environmental sectors. This book can be used as an important reference by graduate students, and researchers, scientists, engineers and industrialists in polymer, electrochemical, pharmaceutical and environmental industries.

Book Synopsis Point Processes and Product Densities by : S. Kidambi Srinivasan
Download or read book Point Processes and Product Densities written by S. Kidambi Srinivasan and published by Alpha Science Int'l Ltd.. This book was released on 2003 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Point processes are random processes that are concerned with point events occurring in space or time. A powerful method of analyzing them is through a sequence of correlation functions, called product densities, introduced by Alladi Ramakrishnan. In view of their wide applicability, there is a spectacular development of the theory and applications of these processes in the recent past. Most of the books and monographs in this area are not easily comprehensible to non-mathematically oriented readers, because of their abstraction and generality. In addition, the best way to learn a subject is to study the original papers. Hence it is considered worthwhile to reprint some of the most significant contributions of Alladi Ramakrishnan and his associates to serve as a ready reference volume. While a good working knowledge of elementary probability theory is a must, some acquaintance with Markov processes will be helpful to read these papers. This volume will be useful to young researchers working in the broad area of stochastic point processes and their applications and in particular indispensable to those working in stochastic modeling with special reference to problems of queues, inventory, reliability, neural network etc. It will also be useful to those working in the conventional areas of statistical physics, fluctuating phenomena and communication theory and control, where point processes are extensively employed.
Book Synopsis Dehydrogenases by : Rosa Angela Canuto
Download or read book Dehydrogenases written by Rosa Angela Canuto and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-11-14 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book takes in consideration some dehydrogenases, enzymes with different functions in the cells by using different substrates, such as hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases, aldehyde dehydrogenases, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, glutamate dehydrogenase, succinate dehydrogenase. They are examined from the following points of view: biochemistry, physiological functions and role in some diseases and in the development of tumours. For these reasons, the book is divided into three sections: 1. Dehydrogenases and cancer 2. Dehydrogenases and some diseases 3. Dehydrogenases and physiological role

Book Synopsis Biogeochemistry of Marine Systems by : Kenneth D. Black
Download or read book Biogeochemistry of Marine Systems written by Kenneth D. Black and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-02-03 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marine systems vary in their sensitivities to perturbation. Perturbation may be insidious - such as increasing eutrophication of coastal areas - or it may be dramatic - such as a response to an oil spill or some other accident. Climate change may occur incrementally or it may be abrupt, and ecosystem resilience is likely to be a complex function of the interactions of the factors and species mediating key biogeochemical processes. Biogeochemistry of Marine Systems considers issues of marine system resilience, focusing on a range of marine systems that exemplify major global province types. Each system is interesting in its own right, on account of its sensitivity to natural or anthropogenic change or its importance as an ecological service provider. Each contributing author concentrates on advances of the last decade. This prime reference source for marine biogeochemists, marine ecologists, and global systems scientists provides a strong foundation for the study of the multiple marine systems undergoing change because of natural biochemical or anthropogenic factors.
Book Synopsis Archaeological Survey in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley, 1940–1947 by : Philip Phillips
Download or read book Archaeological Survey in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley, 1940–1947 written by Philip Phillips and published by University of Alabama Press. This book was released on 2003-10-08 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Documents prehistoric human occupation along the lower reaches of the Mississippi River A Dan Josselyn Memorial Publication The Lower Mississippi Survey was initiated in 1939 as a joint undertaking of three institutions: the School of Geology at Louisiana State University, the Museum of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, and the Peabody Museum at Harvard. Fieldwork began in 1940 but was halted during the war years. When fieldwork resumed in 1946, James Ford had joined the American Museum of Natural History, which assumed co-sponsorship from LSU. The purpose of the Lower Mississippi Survey (LMS)—a term used to identify both the fieldwork and the resultant volume—was to investigate the northern two-thirds of the alluvial valley of the lower Mississippi River, roughly from the mouth of the Ohio River to Vicksburg. This area covers about 350 miles and had been long regarded as one of the principal hot spots in eastern North American archaeology. Phillips, Ford, and Griffin surveyed over 12,000 square miles, identified 382 archaeological sites, and analyzed over 350,000 potsherds in order to define ceramic typologies and establish a number of cultural periods. The commitment of these scholars to developing a coherent understanding of the archaeology of the area, as well as their mutual respect for one another, enabled the publication of what is now commonly considered the bible of southeastern archaeology. Originally published in 1951 as volume 25 of the Papers of the Peabody Museum of American Archaeology and Ethnology, this work has been long out of print. Because Stephen Williams served for 35 years as director of the LMS at Harvard, succeeding Phillips, and was closely associated with the authors during their lifetimes, his new introduction offers a broad overview of the work’s influence and value, placing it in a contemporary context.
