Book Synopsis Reconfigurable Cellular Neural Networks and Their Applications by : Müştak E. Yalçın
Download or read book Reconfigurable Cellular Neural Networks and Their Applications written by Müştak E. Yalçın and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how neural networks can be designed to analyze sensory data in a way that mimics natural systems. It introduces readers to the cellular neural network (CNN) and formulates it to match the behavior of the Wilson–Cowan model. In turn, two properties that are vital in nature are added to the CNN to help it more accurately deliver mimetic behavior: randomness of connection, and the presence of different dynamics (excitatory and inhibitory) within the same network. It uses an ID matrix to determine the location of excitatory and inhibitory neurons, and to reconfigure the network to optimize its topology. The book demonstrates that reconfiguring a single-layer CNN is an easier and more flexible solution than the procedure required in a multilayer CNN, in which excitatory and inhibitory neurons are separate, and that the key CNN criteria of a spatially invariant template and local coupling are fulfilled. In closing, the application of the authors’ neuron population model as a feature extractor is exemplified using odor and electroencephalogram classification.
Book Synopsis Cellular Neural Networks, Multi-scroll Chaos and Synchronization by : M?tak E. Yalin
Download or read book Cellular Neural Networks, Multi-scroll Chaos and Synchronization written by M?tak E. Yalin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For engineering applications that are based on nonlinear phenomena, novel information processing systems require new methodologies and design principles. This perspective is the basis of the three cornerstones of this book: cellular neural networks, chaos and synchronization. Cellular neural networks and their universal machine implementations offer a well-established platform for processing spatial-temporal patterns and wave computing. Multi-scroll circuits are generalizations to the original Chua's circuit, leading to chip implementable circuits with increasingly complex attractors. Several applications make use of synchronization techniques for nonlinear systems. A systematic overview is given for Lur'e representable systems with global synchronization criteria for master-slave and mutual synchronization, robust synchronization, HV synchronization, time-delayed systems and impulsive synchronization.

Book excerpt: This book deals with new theoretical results for studyingCellular Neural Networks (CNNs) concerning its dynamical behavior. Newaspects of CNNs' applications are developed for modelling of somefamous nonlinear partial differential equations arising in biology, genetics, neurophysiology, physics, ecology, etc. The analysis ofCNNs' models is based on the harmonic balance method well known incontrol theory and in the study of electronic oscillators. Suchphenomena as hysteresis, bifurcation and chaos are studied for CNNs.The topics investigated in the book involve several scientificdisciplines, such as dynamical systems, applied mathematics, mathematical modelling, information processing, biology andneurophysiology. The reader will find comprehensive discussion on thesubject as well as rigorous mathematical analyses of networks ofneurons from the view point of dynamical systems. The text is writtenas a textbook for senior undergraduate and graduate students inapplied mathematics. Providing a summary of recent results on dynamicsand modelling of CNNs, the book will also be of interest to allresearchers in the area.

Book Synopsis Focal-Plane Sensor-Processor Chips by : Ákos Zarándy
Download or read book Focal-Plane Sensor-Processor Chips written by Ákos Zarándy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-02-26 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focal-plane sensor-processor imager devices are sensor arrays and processor arrays embedded in each other on the same silicon chip. This close coupling enables ultra-fast processing even on tiny, low power devices, because the slow and energetically expensive transfer of the large amount of sensory data is eliminated. This technology also makes it possible to produce locally adaptive sensor arrays, which can (similarly to the human retina) adapt to the large dynamics of the illumination in a single scene This book focuses on the implementation and application of state-of-the-art vision chips. It provides an overview of focal plane chip technology, smart imagers and cellular wave computers, along with numerous examples of current vision chips, 3D sensor-processor arrays and their applications. Coverage includes not only the technology behind the devices, but also their near- and mid-term research trends.

Book Synopsis Smart Adaptive Systems on Silicon by : Maurizio Valle
Download or read book Smart Adaptive Systems on Silicon written by Maurizio Valle and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-10-18 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intelligent/smart systems have become common practice in many engineering applications. On the other hand, current low cost standard CMOS technology (and future foreseeable developments) makes available enormous potentialities. The next breakthrough will be the design and development of "smart adaptive systems on silicon" i.e. very power and highly size efficient complete systems (i.e. sensing, computing and "actuating" actions) with intelligence on board on a single silicon die. Smart adaptive systems on silicon will be able to "adapt" autonomously to the changing environment and will be able to implement "intelligent" behaviour and both perceptual and cognitive tasks. At last, they will communicate through wireless channels, they will be battery supplied or remote powered (via inductive coupling) and they will be ubiquitous in our every day life. Although many books deal with research and engineering topics (i.e. algorithms, technology, implementations, etc.) few of them try to bridge the gap between them and to address the issues related to feasibility, reliability and applications. Smart Adaptive Systems on Silicon, though not exhaustive, tries to fill this gap and to give answers mainly to the feasibility and reliability issues. Smart Adaptive Systems on Silicon mainly focuses on the analog and mixed mode implementation on silicon because this approach is amenable of achieving impressive energy and size efficiency. Moreover, analog systems can be more easily interfaced with sensing and actuating devices.
