Book Synopsis The Stability of Elastic Systems by : S. J. Britvec
Download or read book The Stability of Elastic Systems written by S. J. Britvec and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-03 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Stability of Elastic Systems presents some of the most important aspects of the stability and the non-linear behavior at finite deformations of several types of structural elastic systems, which are important for a more precise understanding of the static performance of such systems. This book is divided into eight chapters that aim to complete parts of classical, eigenvalue, theories of buckling and to demonstrate the important role played by finite deformations in the theoretical analyses of stability. Other chapters discuss the properties of prismatic members and the post-buckling behavior of plane frameworks. A chapter describes the elastic buckling and stability of statically determinate space frameworks. The remaining chapters cover the elastic buckling of statically indeterminate pin-jointed systems and space frameworks. These chapters also examine the non-conservative aspects of structural systems. This book will be of great value to practicing engineers and students.

Download or read book Stability of Dynamical Systems written by and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the analysis and synthesis of contemporary systems, engineers and scientists are frequently confronted with increasingly complex models that may simultaneously include components whose states evolve along continuous time and discrete instants; components whose descriptions may exhibit nonlinearities, time lags, transportation delays, hysteresis effects, and uncertainties in parameters; and components that cannot be described by various classical equations, as in the case of discrete-event systems, logic commands, and Petri nets. The qualitative analysis of such systems requires results for finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional systems; continuous-time and discrete-time systems; continuous continuous-time and discontinuous continuous-time systems; and hybrid systems involving a mixture of continuous and discrete dynamics. Filling a gap in the literature, this textbook presents the first comprehensive stability analysis of all the major types of system models described above. Throughout the book, the applicability of the developed theory is demonstrated by means of many specific examples and applications to important classes of systems, including digital control systems, nonlinear regulator systems, pulse-width-modulated feedback control systems, artificial neural networks (with and without time delays), digital signal processing, a class of discrete-event systems (with applications to manufacturing and computer load balancing problems) and a multicore nuclear reactor model. The book covers the following four general topics: * Representation and modeling of dynamical systems of the types described above * Presentation of Lyapunov and Lagrange stability theory for dynamical systems defined on general metric spaces * Specialization of this stability theory to finite-dimensional dynamical systems * Specialization of this stability theory to infinite-dimensional dynamical systems Replete with exercises and requiring basic knowledge of linear algebra, analysis, and differential equations, the work may be used as a textbook for graduate courses in stability theory of dynamical systems. The book may also serve as a self-study reference for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners in applied mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics.

Book Synopsis Approximation of Stochastic Invariant Manifolds by : Mickaël D. Chekroun
Download or read book Approximation of Stochastic Invariant Manifolds written by Mickaël D. Chekroun and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-20 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first volume is concerned with the analytic derivation of explicit formulas for the leading-order Taylor approximations of (local) stochastic invariant manifolds associated with a broad class of nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations. These approximations take the form of Lyapunov-Perron integrals, which are further characterized in Volume II as pullback limits associated with some partially coupled backward-forward systems. This pullback characterization provides a useful interpretation of the corresponding approximating manifolds and leads to a simple framework that unifies some other approximation approaches in the literature. A self-contained survey is also included on the existence and attraction of one-parameter families of stochastic invariant manifolds, from the point of view of the theory of random dynamical systems.
Book Synopsis Differential Geometry Applied to Dynamical Systems by : Jean-Marc Ginoux
Download or read book Differential Geometry Applied to Dynamical Systems written by Jean-Marc Ginoux and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to present a new approach called Flow Curvature Method that applies Differential Geometry to Dynamical Systems. Hence, for a trajectory curve, an integral of any n-dimensional dynamical system as a curve in Euclidean n-space, the curvature of the trajectory OCo or the flow OCo may be analytically computed. Then, the location of the points where the curvature of the flow vanishes defines a manifold called flow curvature manifold. Such a manifold being defined from the time derivatives of the velocity vector field, contains information about the dynamics of the system, hence identifying the main features of the system such as fixed points and their stability, local bifurcations of codimension one, center manifold equation, normal forms, linear invariant manifolds (straight lines, planes, hyperplanes). In the case of singularly perturbed systems or slow-fast dynamical systems, the flow curvature manifold directly provides the slow invariant manifold analytical equation associated with such systems. Also, starting from the flow curvature manifold, it will be demonstrated how to find again the corresponding dynamical system, thus solving the inverse problem.
Book Synopsis Linear Continuous-Time Systems by : Lyubomir T. Gruyitch
Download or read book Linear Continuous-Time Systems written by Lyubomir T. Gruyitch and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-28 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to help the reader understand the linear continuous-time time-invariant dynamical systems theory and its importance for systems analysis and design of the systems operating in real conditions, i.e., in forced regimes under arbitrary initial conditions. The text completely covers IO, ISO and IIO systems. It introduces the concept of the system full matrix P(s) in the complex domain and establishes its link with the also newly introduced system full transfer function matrix F(s). The text establishes the full block diagram technique based on the use of F(s), which incorporates the Laplace transform of the input vector and the vector of all initial conditions. It explores the direct relationship between the system full transfer function matrix F(s) and the Lyapunov stability concept, definitions and conditions, as well as with the BI stability concept, definitions, and conditions. The goal of the book is to unify the study and applications of all three classes of the of the linear continuous-time time-invariant systems, for short systems.
Book Synopsis Stability and Convergence of Mechanical Systems with Unilateral Constraints by : Remco I. Leine
Download or read book Stability and Convergence of Mechanical Systems with Unilateral Constraints written by Remco I. Leine and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-29 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the stability theory for systems with bilateral constraints is a well-established field, this monograph represents a systematic study of mechanical systems with unilateral constraints, such as unilateral contact, impact and friction. Such unilateral constraints give rise to non-smooth dynamical models for which stability theory is developed in this work. The book will be of interest to those working in the field of non-smooth mechanics and dynamics.
